GM Game 2017-2018: Montreal Canadiens

Created by: ricochetii
Team: 2017-18 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 15, 2017
Published: Sep. 15, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Win now mode.

Status: Looking for depth improvements and futures.
I'm listening to anything, but main roster is pretty much set, so offer accordingly.

---------- Available -----------
Schlemko - 3rd/4th or equivalent prospect
Morrow - 6th/7th round prospect, prefer RW/RHD

Offers should include futures without having a negative impact on my roster. (ie: if you want Benn I'd expect a RHD that helps me now as well as a pick or a prospect).
If prices are high it is because I have no NEED to move anyone.

Players currently in the minors are negotiable (view Capfriendly team list: https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/canadiens)

------------ Wants -------------
- Missing picks
- The last 5 years back

----------- Directives ------------
- Build a contender
- Manage cap
- Restock picks

** Ignore lines and roster set up. I'll be playing with it a lot. **

----- Player Rights -------
F: Naatinen Pezzetta Cates Vejdemo Ikonen Trunev Friberg
D: Koberstein Staum Henrikson Tyszka Walford Fleury Brook
G: Hawkey

----- Notes -----
I own the 2nd (WSH - 2018) from the conditional picks in the Drouin/Sergachev trade.

He wouldn't be my first choice, but it might be something I would consider later on.
Still waiting for rules and some other teams to show up so I can evaluate and see who's available.

It's negotiable. At the very least I'd like Lefebvre replaced and Therrien fired (again).
Why those are things I have to ask for is beyond me, but y'know, Bergevin, foxhole, Francophone, etc.

Won't be able to say until I determine if I need him in a package for something else.
Likely a 1st or a 2nd plus. He needs more of a track record to warrant that price, so we'll see.

It...it...its like you read my mind or something!

The worst part of all this is that technically, they iced a good team that won a lot of games so they look like a strong team but fundamentally they're structured horribly and the vision presented by MB and company shown, is that of when MB was still playing in the NHL and Therrien was coaching the Habs the first time.......stuck in the past always trying to copy the leader and thus always being left behind.

maybe we can do a Garrett Sparks + type of deal... But if you need him for a package, I completely understand

Weird. It's almost like it's completely obvious to everyone but the people in charge. Confused
Therrien in the scouting department though, that's next level obliviousness.

I do have a few prospect targets in mind as well (Sparks isn't one of them), but that's a discussion for a later time.

                    Galchenyuk probably isn't moving.
Petry has a NMC, so he can't be traded. (Still waiting for rules to be posted, but I believe that is how it works.)
Turris is also on an expiring deal, so I'd expect the price to reflect that.

Are you building, rebuilding, or trying to win now? (Maybe put some stuff in your description to give people an idea of your direction and what you're looking for.)
My personal take on the Sens is that they are building, so temporary assets should be turned into more permanent ones, and NHL ready players should be your targets.
I have players like Gallagher, Shaw, Hudon, and Lindgren that fit those conditions. Players that will have an impact in 2 or 3 years' time.

If that's the case, it puts us both in the same situation. One of us has to have excess of what the other needs, so we may not be a fit.
I'll take a look later and see if there is such a scenario.

                    You know the Sergachev-Drouin trade?

It had conditional picks in it. Technically, the 2018 2nd WSH is still yours and 2018 6th TBL is mine unless the condition is fufilled

That's more interesting, but I'm in no rush to move either Weber or Hudon. I have more pressing needs up front.
Realistically, I might avoid it simply because it makes no sense to trade the same players back and forth.
I'd love a do-over on that trade, but do-overs just don't happen IRL.

I'll have to seriously think about it, but I'm not making moves quickly.

I don't know what you mean, but I don't wanna. Sticking Out Tongue
                    What's up?

                    You know the Sergachev-Drouin trade?

It had conditional picks in it. Technically, the 2018 2nd WSH is still yours and 2018 6th TBL is mine unless the condition is fufilled

I see that now. If Sergachev plays 40 or more NHL games this season (regular and playoffs), no picks are exchanged.
Strange capfriendly doesn't have the condition listed. Did you report it?

I think the best thing to do might be to trade the picks to each other without taking anything back.
Include a note in the details that if Sergachev plays less than 40 games in the NHL this season, cancel that trade.
By not taking the pick back, we can be sure we leave it in "limbo" so we don't accidentally move them.

                    Sound like a plan?

Yeah. Just trade the picks and add a note in the description. If the condition is fulfilled, just revert the trade.

                    Re: Pavelski

Made an offer of Juulsen + Hudon + 2018 1st with the option of including a cap dump for Pavelski... as of now this is the price and there's not too too much wiggle room for negotiation. If still interested in the future we can revisit.

Okay. I'll take a closer look when I'm ready to make moves and see if it works for me. Thanks for the response.

That'll work then. Thanks for the trade? lol
