Maybe I'm being too serious, but why trade Sekera for picks? It's not liek you are using the cap for someone else, and Edmonton needs him this year. Maybe in the summer a cap dump will be necessary (Sekera is a high-level NHL defenseman, not a cap dump quality), but during this season when they're expected to challenge for the Cup they don't need nearly $16M in cap space.

I thought Sekera would be worth more at deadline, rather then the summer. Room will need to be made for Nurse and Benning. Hopefully the 80 mill cap rumours next year are true.

Detroit would be well advised to take that at this point. ARI trade isn't even at all and OTT trade doesn't make sense from their perspective imo

Nope have no interest in Benson and Betker we could get a 2018 2nd round pick on an offer sheet don't want or need scrubs have far too many of them as it is.

You'd probably have to take one contract anyhow, as Edmonton is basically at the 50-man limit. A second and a Betker-ish prospect?

What's uneven with the Arizona trade?

Wood is expected to be a NHL defenceman and was a rather good pick. they want to keep him around and the offer does nothing for them
