The idea that I got was a three-team trade between Colorado, Montreal and Carolina. Given how badly Montreal needs a #1 centerman and the lack of assets that they have, it seems like the most realistic way to acquire him. This is the trade.

This is a pretty good idea but MTL would not end up giving Chucky, Scherbak, 2018 1st for essentially Duchene.

Agreed.1st should be dropped and Fleury switched to Hanafin to even value out perhaps?

Well @krakowitz something very similar to this happened but I'm glad it happened to Ottawa and not Montreal.
