I think you guys are talking about two different types of candies.

RAIF is talking about the chocolate Smarties, similar to M&M's, pictured here:

While Bolts is talking about the tart, chalk-like candy, pictured here:

yeah, i mean the chocolate ones.

They both taste different.

i actually bought some smarties recently, and i tried 2 different colours right after each other and they both tasted the same. The chocolate ones all taste the same, the candy ones taste different.

Very late to this thread.

Idk about my favorite (so hard to narrow down), but I can say with absolute certainty that Wunderbar is the most underrated common chocolate bar on the planet. So overlooked.

Three words - Amarula Liquor Bar. Y'all probably never heard of it, and neither did I until about 2 years ago. Excuse the rant, but there's a whole story behind how I got to try what I claim is arguably the best candy bar out there. So no **** there I was, alone in South Africa on another boring business trip. My company makes industrial management software, and I was sent down to Cape Town to start working some local industrialists into buying our software.

I have a severe sweet tooth. As in, I just can't go without sweets. My metabolism is superfast, and I'm about as lean as a leaf, even though I keep stuffing my face with sugar. So, the first thing I did when I situated myself at the hotel was to look for candy. The first day....no joy. I've managed to find some local stuff that was meh at best. I purposefully stayed away from Mars and other crap since it became too pedestrian for me.

Then, on the second day, my hosts took me out to dinner over at the Grand West Casino. It's a magnificent place that left a great impression on me. Here's what it looks like https://www.gamblingafrica.com/landcasinos/southafrica/grand-west-casino.asp . Anyway, I'm sitting there at the table and I feel a sudden urge for some candy. I ask the waiter if he has any, and after saying no to all of their desserts, he begrudgingly goes to the kitchen and brings back a box of Amarula Liquor Bar. Guys, tasting that candy after 2 days in a foreign country and a total of 4 days without a good sugar rush, felt like heaven. No joke, it was a borderline life-changing experience how good it tasted. If you're ever in South Africa, make sure to get you some.

Really, even Caramilk? Are they not available in the US?

As far as Wunderbars go, they're certainly one of my favorites; the bite size Halloween ones especially. I've heard they're similar to Butterfingers (never had one), but I've also heard Butterfingers are similar to Crispy Crunch, which aren't all that much like Wunderbars, so I can't really comment on that.

I'll have to look more closely. CVS, the health and drug store chain, has a pretty wide selection of confectionary (!!).

interesting. While I'm not familiar with any of the other ones, I can say Take 5s are Hershey products that I've seen at a lot of CVS stores. Maybe its carried more in certain places than others though.

I'm pretty sure that the chocolate Smarties aren't sold in the US, even under a different name. The closest thing would be M&M's, but those are sold everywhere.
