I think Detroit wins this here. I've always liked Wilson and don't know why Pittsburgh is taking on the extra 1.5M salary, yea the rumours were hot and he covers the 3C role, but it's not like Sheahan is a God or anything.

Not a terrible deal. Wilson lost his fourth line spot to Kuhnackl, and the Pens have many wingers in the system who can replace him. Sheahan is not an optimal 3rd line center, but he should be given a chance. He could have more success with better wingers in Pittsburgh, where he could be playing with a combination of Hagelin, Rust, and Hornqvist. Best case scenario, Sheahan gets moved to 4LC when the Pens trade for a better guy at the trade deadline, possibly Galchenyuk as Darren Dregger mentioned the other day

I think Pittsburgh won this deal player wise. they got a really good 3rd line center who should help scoring a little bit and defense... Pick wise, wasn't the greatest, i mean a 3rd??

Hopefully for Pittsburgh Sheahan will start producing more in Sullivan's hands. I call it a fair deal.

Makes sense for both teams. Just curious if Pittsburgh can revive Sheahan. Good deal for both teams.

I like the deal from both sides. DET - A little bit of money off the books, higher pick in a fairly solid draft, and he wasn't a real impact for DET. PIT - Doesn't really have a #3C so this will give RS another chance. PIT has a ton of forwards that can fill/have filled Wilson's role. They have the cap space to do it. To me this is just a sign of continued rebuild for DET to help in the long run and PIT wants to take the risk for winning now. Good trade.

Win for Detroit. Both players are garbage but they get the higher pick.

Before making this trade, Pittsburgh needed a third line center. After making the trade, Pittsburgh still needs a third line center. Doesn't make a ton of sense just because of the picks.

Want to keep in mind that Sheahan took 80 games to score all his goals last year, and he has no points so far this year. Sheahan is, at best, a mediocre 4th line center. Wilson is similarly useful and Detroit moving up ~50 spots is the best asset moved.

Detroit wins its first trade of the year in my book.
