Description

Yes. Jake Gardiner is a gifted skater and offensive defenseman, when he wants to be. He continues to be a huge defensive liability. While Jake Gardiner certainly helps the Leafs' speed and transition game, he offers basically nothing in the defensive zone.

So here is what I am proposing:

2. Vegas' 7th string goaltender, who is currently playing somewhere in Junior D, a division of Junior that Vegas created just so that can extend their goalie depth.

First off, this trade was clearly a joke, but as I am sure you know, in every joke, there is at least some truth behind it. Statistics speak for themselves, and there is objective data, beyond what we all watch on TV and see in the news reals or "misplays of the day", that Jake Gardiner is an extremely one-dimension hockey player and defenseman. To say that he is the Leafs second-best defenseman (and if we are talking overall, he is not), then that just goes to show you how bad Toronto's defense is.

Pretty sure that although Morgan Reilly does not have the offensive numbers that Jake Gardiner has, Reilly has been the Leafs best defenseman over the last several years.
