don't think Leafs would want to take on that contract. Would be trying for Trouba/Parayko-type ideally.

An aging overpaid Brent Seabrook doesn't fit what the Leafs are trying to do like get younger.

I'd rather take Chicago, Carrick and the 1st out of the deal and just trade JVR for Vatanen.

Seabrook isn't waiving for the Leafs. Leafs would only traded for Seabrook (or a similar player) if the Leafs had a long term contract they wanted to shed (which they don't have). Ducks can't afford or probably don't even want JVR long term. The Leafs would be 100 time better off just making the Vatanen for JVR that you proposed and leaving the Hawks (and Seabrook) out of it.
