Lottery Winners:
  1. Logo of the Buffalo SabresBuffalo Sabres
  2. Logo of the Ottawa SenatorsOttawa Senators
  3. Logo of the Arizona CoyotesArizona Coyotes
ROUND 1TEAMORIGINALPLAYERDETAILS
1Logo of the Buffalo Sabres-With the first overall pick, Botterill would be out of his mind not to pick Dahlin.
2Logo of the Ottawa Senators-Still in search of a top defenseman but Svechnikov is hard to pass up, they can pick a defenseman with the 21st pick.
3Logo of the Arizona Coyotes-Tough choice between Boqvist, Zadina, and Tkachuk but the 'Yotes won't miss out on the family connection.
4Logo of the Montreal Canadiens-Still without a top forward prospect, Zadina fills the gap for the Habs. Boqvist could be taken too but Juulsen and Mete just broke the NHL barrier.
5Logo of the Detroit Red Wings-Finally, Detroit gets the defensemen steal in the draft they need. Also gives Cholowski more time to develop.
6Logo of the Vancouver Canucks-Pettersson and Gaudette showed a ton more skill than expected last year letting the Canucks pick a defenseman. As for picking Bouchard over Hughes, often compared to an underrated Ekblad, Bouchard has put up crazy points for a defenseman in the OHL.
7Logo of the Chicago Blackhawks-Jokiharju doesn't fill the defensive gap in the Hawks system, Hughes should do the trick.
8Logo of the New York Rangers-Lias Andersson and Filip Chytil fill the prospect forward hole for the Rangers along with Howden. Dobson can help the Rangers push a new wave of defense with Hajek and DeAngelo.
9Logo of the Edmonton Oilers-Oliver Wahlstrom would give the Oilers another first round forward which may not be ideal for them, Smith fits the bill it is just a little high to pick him. Therefore the Oilers decide to trade down to the Isles pick and take Ho-Sang. The Isles pick Wahlstrom with this pick and choose to pick a defenseman with their other 1st.
10Logo of the New York Islanders-Oilers pick Smith with their newly acquired pick because they could use a top defenseman.
11Logo of the Carolina Hurricanes-
12Logo of the New York IslandersLogo of the Calgary Flames
13Logo of the Dallas Stars-
14Logo of the Philadelphia FlyersLogo of the St. Louis Blues
15Logo of the Florida Panthers-
16Logo of the Colorado Avalanche-
17Logo of the New Jersey Devils-
18Logo of the Columbus Blue Jackets-
19Logo of the Philadelphia Flyers-
20Logo of the Los Angeles Kings-

26Logo of the Washington Capitals-

K'Andre Miller, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, and Rasmus Kupari will all be 1st round picks. Sampo Ranta, Adam Ginning, and Jay O'Brien are all overvalued here

I have to disagree Kupari and Kotkaniemi are overvalued so often that they have grown into that position in the draft, scouts will not fall for this and will draft accordingly. As for K'Andre Miller, he could easily swap places with Adam Ginning, but Detroit does favor European players. Sampo Ranta's points may not show his actually skill Blues take high risk-high reward Ranta even just in case he is the exceptional player he has shown glimpses of. Jay O'Brien is a great player but the fact that he is still in high school has lowered his projected rank, he may turn out to not be much but Chicago has shown that they are willing to take chances as shown by Tim Soderlund and Dylan Sikura. I would like to hear though what you think would be a fairer trade for the Isles to move down a spot.

Kotkaniemi and Kupari are the two best Finnish players in this draft. Kotkaniemi has top-6 potential with outstanding two way ability. His playmaking ability is off the charts and he can easily maneuver his way out of his own zone, and across neutral ice, because of his hands and his intelligence. He makes near impossible passes look easy, and can usually read plays before they unfold. He is an extremely smart two-way player that has the potential to be the next David Backes or Frans Nielsen.

Kupari is one of the few prospects in this draft that have legitimate top-line potential. His stickhandling is arguably the best in the entire draft class, and his lateral agility is incredible. He is an offensive threat in all aspects of the game. He has the sight, and the hockey sense, to find the open man instead of holding on to the puck for too long and his passes are sharp and crisp. He might have couple of question marks regarding his defensive play, but his dynamic offensive play will ensure that he goes top-20 overall.

All of this was true at the beginning of the season... not as much anymore
