“Is this good?” Well, not for the Rangers. Drury says no even if you took out the draft picks or the players involved.

Wouldn’t be shocked as well. If Georgiev has a poor season him being non-tendered is certainly a possibility. But if he plays well, he’ll have trade value after the season. I personally believe that he’ll play well the rest of the season.

Kravtsov is most certainly worth at least a 2nd because NYR won’t trade him for just a 2nd. If a 2nd is all the Rangers can get, he won’t get traded. He’ll play for the Rangers or no where at all in the NHL.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny7</b></div><div>I don't know...I don't think Edmonton gives up a 1st for those two guys. Overall value is probably reasonable, and going after a below league average goaltender is certainly a very "Edmonton" thing to do, but if they're intent on securing that goaltending position, there's better ways to go than this. Maybe a couple of 2nds instead?</div></div>
I don’t disagree... Maybe Drury instead trades Kravtsov to another team for a prospect or maybe even Kravtsov and Drury work things out and he returns to the Rangers after his KHL season concludes.
I just see Kravtsov putting up lots of points in the immediate future for Edmonton and I could see Georgiev being a good to very above average goaltender with a team that plays him the majority of the games or if he splits the games playing time.

what could have been
The Rangers couldn’t afford Buchnevich’s $5.8 million under next season’s cap. Drury had to trade Buchnevich, his only other option would have been to trade Buchnevich at this year’s trade deadline or lose him with no compensation as a UFA.
Trading Buchnevich at this year’s trade deadline would have been extremely disruptive to the team to say the least, after playing with the team all season long. While losing Buch to free agency without any compensation would have been a complete disaster.
Yes Blais and a 1st round pick would have been more ideal. But Blais and a 2nd round pick when at the time Drury made the trade, was better than waiting to trade Buchnevich in the hope of getting more in compensation.

After trade deadline
I personally like how Namestnikov can play both center and both wing positions. He can also fit in and play well on all four lines. As well as being a good two way forward. I think it would be a great pickup for the Rangers to at the trade deadline.
But looking at his trade history, Namestnikov was recently traded two separate times in exchange for a 4th round pick. So I would have to assume that his trade value would be a 4th.

Might be a lot to give up in the trade, but I could definitely see Kravtsov putting up big scoring numbers for Pittsburgh (more so than other teams). In addition to continuing to develop into a well-rounded two way player.

I love this lineup
I agree that these are probably the best line combinations. But a part of me would like to see Goodrow on a line with Strome and Panarin. Jasper Fast fit in perfectly on that line and Goodrow has a similar style of play as Fast, Except Goodrow is more physical and more skilled.
But I believe Chytil will benefit greatly playing on a line with Goodrow. If Chytil struggles again this season with winning face offs, Goodrow could move to Center in face off situations and Chytil to wing.

Boeser to New York
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div>Vancouver is not going to trade Boeser just to resign Pettersson and Hughes. That doesn't make any sense. IMO
They need just enough cap space to be compliant. Whatever wherever that is/comes from. They can do that by making smaller trades, putting Ferland on LTIR and potentially the Hamonic situation will help them too.
And you don't sell a premium asset at a loss just to make space. Well you can, but its bad management.
The solution to Vancouver's cap situation is not Boeser. There is a easier and less destructive way to get there. Its hard for us to pinpoint how much without knowing how far apart the three camps are. I don't think they are that far off. it'll get done soon enough and it won't cost Boeser being traded to do it.</div></div>
I agree that IF Vancouver doesn’t have to trade Boeser, they shouldn’t. I believe the market value right now would be along the lines of what NYR received for Buchnevich.
Maybe the trade market changers this trade deadline or next offseason. Because I don’t think Vancouver will have the cap space to resign Boeser who becomes a RFA after the season. Even if other players on the roster are traded or bought out.

Most in New York feel the Rangers should have received more in trade as well, but that is the market value. The Rangers have plenty of skilled players to replace Buchnevich. The Rangers were looking for a player like Blais to beat up on players like McAvoy in the playoffs.
Most fans who’ve never played the game only look at offensive production as a measuring stick, so someone like Blais who has a physical element to his game and point production potential are not appreciated.
Regardless, substitute someone else who’s more of a goal scorer than Blais, but much less physical and a 2nd round pick or just hold on to Boeser. Oh that’s right, they can’t afford to hold on to Boeser next season because they won’t be cap compliant after signing Pettersson and Hughes. Assuming no team gives them an offer sheet.
Vancouver is desperate to trade Boeser, much more so than NYR was to trade Buchnevich. To think Vancouver fans are going to be happy with the trade return of Boeser is flat out ignorant.

Vancouver doesn’t have to trade Boeser due to cap considerations? Pettersson and Hughes were resigned?

Regardless of the past, Buchnevich is now a better point producer and a more well rounded player. Thus he’s a better player. The Rangers received market value for Buchnevich. If Van gets more for Boeser, it won’t be much more. If you believe differently, get ready for disappointment.

We have a failure to communicate... Boeser’s trade value is equal to Buchnevich. Buchnevich is just as well rounded as Boeser if not better well rounded. Is Boeser on Vancouver’ number one penalty killing unit, like Buchnevich? Expect Boeser’s trade return to be on par with Buchnevich... Which was Blais and a 2nd round pick.

Rangers get Eichel
Buffalo waited to long to trade Eichel... If he was traded at the draft prior to free agency, a team could have put him on long term IR and signed a player or players up to Eichel’s cap hit. Like what Tampa did when Kuckerov got injured last season.
Now all the UFA’s are already signed. Besides the Rangers are looking like they will extend Zibanejad rather than try to make a deal with the absolutely delusional Buffalo GM.

I believe the Rangers value Blais much more than his point totals. So Van would instead get a player who produced more points, but didn’t bring the physical type element Blais brings. Though Blais might have the talent to evolve into the point producer he once was before the NHL.
But Boeser’s market value is just about Buchnevich’s value.

Looked up the McAvoy trade proposal... I hate trades that involve Strome... Strome has been just about a point per game player the last two seasons playing on a line with Panarin. The season prior to the last two, he was on pace (with NYR) for just about a 45 point season playing on the 3rd line - without Panarin.
But for some reason Strome is considered by most hockey fans, not rooting for the Rangers, to be over rated. Which leads to every trade proposal he’s listed in becoming a debate. Which is hysterical because obviously if he played for any Canadian team, the trade proposals being presented would be Strome for McAvoy straight up.

Thank you for explaining. Regardless of his other trade proposals, this trade is very tilted towards VAN - not NYR. Boeser’s market value right now is a player similar to Blais and a 2nd round pick. Unless you’re insinuating that the Vancouver’s GM is so much better that the Rangers GM, that he would be able to finagle more in trade out of the market value than Drury.
