Whats the cost for Savard
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Viqsi</b></div><div>Then they'd have to pay extra. Muzzin cost a 1st and two depth prospects. If we have to retain, improve the quality on one of those prospects. No LDs permitted, by the way.</div></div>
I figured when everyone said savard was worth picks like 2nd's and 3rd's it was too good to be true lol, 2nd pair RHD's are usually worth some quality, add in retention with the way the cap is and you need to pay for that luxury. thanks for the good insight here

definitely would be funny to watch and see how keefe and him got along, but in the tight cap road ahead, retained salary will come at an absolute premium for everyone. just a thought for future agm's with player retentions

Robertson has the Value of a Top 10 Pick in this Years Draft
I mean, if dubas is good at drafting, he doesnt necessarily need those 15-30 spot picks if he can bang on guys like robertson in 45-60. the first to get muzzin and first to get rid of the marleau deal are things im greatful that happened. hes not giving them away like candy like contract money. sure i wouldve liked to draft at 22 and get a defenseman like bjornfot, but where would that *Defense* be right now without muzzy... id rather not think abt it.
edit: left to defense

Dermott takes the QO
with the contracts that dubas gives out, you think dermotts agent/himself will settle for a QO? they gave ceci more than his QO and im assuming they like dermott more. he gets a bridge probably close to 2x2 but i could see him getting closer to 1.5 cause of flat cap.

shortened bench if theyre down a goal and id really like
Mikheyev-Nylander-Hyman as the 2nd line, has scoring ability but also tough to face. get a goal and not have to worry about the bottom 6 but having kerfy kapanen as the 3rd line isnt shabby either. gonna be a fun series and a game of chess

Edit: also not a great comparable considering draft pedigree. one top 10, one low 20's.

Lines for Playoffs
they ran Rielly-Ceci today, but im also praying that next practice they switch pairs up and run Rielly-Barrie. Keefe really likes Sandin and he will give Ceci a run for his money to get in, but I dont see how Ceci doesnt start game one unfortunately.
robertson will be interesting but i think engvall will have 3LW and if robertson does get in, maybe robertson-spezza-clifford. they prob trust gaut as a PK'er more just bc he hasnt been in this role before but hey, ya never know.

Leafs
i like the idea of getting a cheaper defensive 3C like zacha on retention and moving kerfy, but swapping firsts doesnt make much sense there. if kapanen dermott and a first are involved in that deal, id suspect severson would be a part as well. as for the caps, we already have Holl whos been great with muzzin as well as liljegren almost ready, we really dont need a 2/3 pair RHD. I can see johnsson going out west to an up and coming team with future cap space like ducks but i dont see the caps taking on 3 mill for a middle/top 6/ complement winger

and 2 forgotten that the 30 other GMs are aware you are done if you don't make a trade.
You're going to be losing any trades you make to get under the cap, if you don't accept that you will be very dissapointed.</div></div>
once the list gets past 4 on either side, i think its safe to say you can ignore them or take it with a grain of salt lol

How It WILL BE Without Change
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>Johnsson is a young 40+ point forward with speed and is good defensively. Despite his injury he has value. May be hard to get a 2nd for him but but a couple of 3rds or a 3rd and a longer term project player with upside that could benefit from the Leafs immense player development department would be an easy ask for what he brings to the table. With a flat cap, a lot of guys who were looking to make 4+ million or are making that kind of money are going to price themselves out of the league. Then young guys on team friendly deals will really become attractive depth players.</div></div>
like you said with regards to development, it makes me want to get Lias andersson or a similar player if the values not as high as their draft spot. i think that would be a great grab especially if he develops soundly

How It WILL BE Without Change
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>one or two of Johnsson, Kerfoot and Kapanen will get moved likely for futures or ELC's. That is literally all it'll take to make the cap work, and if Dubas and Pridham can work their magic to find a LTIR contract, they may not even need to move anyone. With a flat cap, a lot of vets and FA's are going to get squeezed hard. Which will make TO's depth guys on team friendly contracts even more attractive.</div></div>
its certainly gonna be interesting with free agents like clifford and what he gets if the cap stays flat for 2 years and goes up minimally. i dont doubt dubas and pridham for making it work and taking on a hossa or similar guy. i hope johnsson is available for the playoffs and can build his value up especially for having to trade either him, kerfy or kappy.

New series CBO Flat Cap Cabbie91
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jack_</b></div><div>Ahhhhhh I see you havent read the article about them wanting to cut salary</div></div>
A lot of people think there wont be CBO unfortunately, but id assume they dont want to retain anything on ekblad (7.5 million over the course of 5 yrs) . with hoffman, dadanov, haula, and pysyk gone, thats ~14 million off books right there (including 1 mill increase of darling buyout). if Bob is somehow moved, id assume it would have to be 50% retention along with incentive pieces and he'd have to prove himself to be a stable/serviceable enough goalie for that price point anyways. this is more likely if/when the cap goes up following this upcoming season.

ah yes, i did not forget about him but i provide no information regarding him in the original post. ingenious. Mikh at close to 2 million or vlad at 5.6.... hmmmm i cant seem to choose. if you can sign clifford for a million, id assume mikheyev makes what, 650k based on your "thought" process? also, players have come back from worse injuries, and you trading johnsson after a major knee surgery seems hypocritical. id mention dermott but youd also tell me "dont see how we sign" even though you drop 5.6 on vlad as if hes nylander 2.0. my brain aches. please consider all factors or mention your thoughts/decisions. having players vanish in thin air doesnt exactly help much.

LOL, the kid forgets mikheyev, i insert him in. i consider getting more cap space, switch lines up to make more sense regarding the trades and signings HE made, and i made them worse? i like robertson but I think most people agree he wont be thrown to the wolves, or even be ready for that. but yeah, i am the one who made them worse. i forgot about engvall, if i put him in will that break the camels back for you?

brassard not enough, clifford not enough, vlad too much, 21 man roster here.
rather have mikheyev at 2RW over vlad at that price,
move kerfoot to LW and give brassard 3C assignment assuming hes bounced back and spezza at 4C
rather get full cap relief for johnsson instead of just a ~1 mill, put barabanov at 3LW, and korshkov 4RW.
I dont agree with any of this but i think this allows the lines to at least make *some* sense with actual cap space.
