From a flyers perspective, I actually consider that deal. What does this team look like when Crosby’s contract is up? That 2026 pick has interesting upside potential.

Baras Blues
Krug already declined to waive his NTC to come to Philly. I doubt there’s going to be a change in heart. Also, I don’t think we trade Konecny without some sort of futures with higher upside coming back.

I'd take that deal for Konecny. I don't image Detroit entertains that offer though.

The expectation is Atkinson is back on the ice this year. If you are trying to get a cap hit for LTIR, it should be Ellis. I don’t think he’s lacing them up again.

27 goals, 1.5M cap hit. If the flyers are trading tippet, a team will be willing to send more than a couple of B level prospects.

not gonna happen
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gary_gobbler</b></div><div>I sure hope he does, he makes 7 mil</div></div>
I am not sure the 7 million is relevant give that the trade has half retained. At 3.5 million cap hit, JVR is an asset.
Going back to the original comment, why pay to acquire JVR? Because he will net you 20+ goals playing on limited minutes and if half is retained, he has a reasonable cap hit. You have to pay for assets.

Because he pots 20 goals every season in middle-six ice time.

who gets dumped
As a flyers fan, I would recommend playing with 5 defensemen and 13 forwards all season before dressing keith yandle.

If giving up a first gets Chuck Fletcher fired, I am for the deal. He is toxic to the future of this franchise.

No. The flyers are a bottom 5 team in the NHL. The team should not pay to have someone take JVR. Retain half and ship him out to someone that is looking for 20 goals this season.... but then again, logic and this GM aren't friends.

(PHI/CAR) - 2nd/3rd/4th round pick for Deangelo + 7th round pick
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DoctorBreakfast</b></div><div>This makes no sense for the Flyers. Trade away THREE picks for an offensive defenseman in his prime when you should be rebuilding, AKA trying to <em>acquire</em> picks. And then you only sign him to a two-year deal??</div></div>
If only we had an offensive defenseman that we didn't trade with multiple picks last year to make room for a 7ft parking cone that hits.

Watching GM CF as a flyers fan has to be the closest thing to oilers fans watching Chia work back in the day. You know he is going to ruin the franchise, but it still amazes.

Lightning won the cup with their top end players injured... The point is your top end guys are injury prone and your depth isnt good enough to carry this team. So, yeah injuries are unpredictable, but send us your pick next year with this team. I'm happy to have it.

Cup or Bust
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kjell_Forsman</b></div><div>This clearly isn't a lottery team.</div></div>
This team is not clearly better than Colorado, St Louis or Minnesota, which means they are fighting for their spot and any injury long term injury to DK, JT Miller, or Chychrun (never played 82) and Letang (played 82 once) could dismantle this build. So yeah, there is a chance they miss and send us a top pick. Expectation is looking in the 15-25 range in 2023, the upside is franchise changing talent (which is just too high to turn down).

You don’t trade a top five pick for a bottom five pick and a future first. More realistically you’d be looking at buffalo’s 1st from both years.

It cost us a second round pick to move two years of a contract for a dman that plays 22mins a night and is on a 50pt pace. Seems light to eat two years of a depth forward while sending an RFA along for the ride
