Have to agree. 26year old right winger that is not contributing at the NHL level for the flyers' best D prospect... How does this make any sense?

Mega giga trade
Imagine thinking Kase has more value than Voracek. Kase has never been able to stay in the lineup and has broken 20 goals and 30 pts once in his career. Kase's career high matches Voracek's career low - his rookie year. Makes no sense for the Flyers to get worse on the ice and give up picks.

Price is 56th in the league when looking at goals saved above average over the past three seasons. If he is locked in, he's amazing, but he's been mostly average at best since signing his extension.

I don’t get it. Is this the player other teams hate or that the team’s fans hate? Either way, how did you end up with Sanheim for the flyers?

Anaheim rebuild
Your trade values are way off... Getzlaf can still play and would be a great addition to a contender looking for a boost. Retain half and get some real assets. Flyers aren't trading for a bottom lineup winger. They have seven top-6 wingers and three more guys that are best suited for bottom six roles. Does not fit the need there.

Agreed. It’ll be a big jump in salary for 4 extra goals last year... people on here were proposing packages like Laine is Ovechkin; I’d argue he’s closer to Simon Gagne. He can score but he’s not a world-beater.
End of the day I’d rather have TK at 5.5 for 5 more seasons than whatever 8-figure monstrosity Laine is going to be looking for next year.

I'll burn the rink down and accept the offer. Crosby is one of the best all-time and immediately gives us an elite weapon to contend now.

Sure, if Toronto is playing the long game, there is an argument that KK, Fox and picks would be preferable. Depends if you want to take a win-now approach or play more patient. I'd still love to see a blockbuster, three-way trade like the proposal. As an hockey fan there isn't enough major roster shaping through trade.

Pulock is worth every bit of $5million and I truly appreciate the two year deal that allows for a big raise when he gets closer to UFA status.

I have been thinking about this trade and I love everything about it... NYR get a superstar 1C. Tampa gets cap space, young talent and picks. Toronto gets scoring center and young Dman that completely changes the makeup of the blue line. I think all three fan bases will feel robbed which means the value is probably close to fair. Excellent stuff.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jetman</b></div><div>What?? Pionk is better than Myers and Laine is better than Konecny...</div></div>
I’d rather have TK than Laine. 3 less goals this season, locked up on an affordable deal. Plays a complete game. Laine is a great shooter but to date he’s more Simon Gagne than Alexander Ovechkin.
I am super high on Myers so it doesn’t hurt my feelings to agree on no deal here.

Flyers
Okposo is half the production that JVR provides and is signed for 1m less for equal. Value is heavily weighted toward JVR
Risto is one of the truly overrated dmen in the league. He would benefit greatly from playing second pair minutes instead of being leaned on as the guy. He puts up points, but gets buried in expected outcomes. Ghost had a down year and may or may not provide much value, Both guys have potential for top 4. Risto is worth more but it's a pick your poison scenario.
Hagg is a serviceable 6-7. He is young enough that a second makes sense.
Value is probably close, but I don't touch this as the Flyers because Okposo is truly dead weight in a flat cap and I don't trust Risto to step into what we need on our top pair.

All three of those trades heavily favor the Sabres, but the worst is that Raanta trade.
Raanta is a fine rental for anyone looking at an injury or wanting an upgrade/depth as the playoffs approach. Hutton is a severly overpaid, subpar backup and Pilut signed a multi-season deal in the KHL so who knows if he every comes back to North America. So for Raanta Arizona gets a 3rd round pick, a KHL player, and has to take back salary for a player that only improves your chance of winning the draft lottery.

I have to imagine that 31 teams call him if he hits free agency. I cannot imagine Ovi getting less than 8 figures if that is truly what he wants. It’s worth it at that price for the Caps to keep him for the career goals chase alone.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skyraider112</b></div><div>Overpay for Ghost and you undervalue Risto</div></div>
How is that an overpay?
Pilut signed a multi-year deal in the KHL. His NHL days are most likely behind him. No value.
Tage Thompson - of 21 career pts, plays bottom six minutes for a bad Buffalo team and is coming off of a season ending shoulder injury. Every team has a guy that can produce comparable numbers with equal or less question marks. No value.
Ghost is penciled in to the top four in this scenario for two never-was players and 30 spots in the draft. We’ll keep him instead.

Sound decision making all around. Love the AA signing. Nearly 5 mil for 4 years to bring in a guy that has a track record of producing big results on contending teams.
I’m sure if we don’t want to trade our top scorer and our Selke center, other teams will line up to take on 22 million of cap hits.

The Flyers hardly need a bottom-6 winger for two draft picks. We already have more than enough talent on the wings and plenty of guys ready to call up.

Is there a Blockbuster Out There
Chuck Fletcher stated publicly that he believes that the Flyers are deeper than almost any team at the wing and would not be adding a winger without making other changes to the position.... so can we finally kill Gaudreau coming to the Flyers because the Flames want to move him and he's from NJ.
Also, Myers is our only RHD. No interest in making our depth chart worse in positions of weakness to add a luxury item at a position of strength.

Niskanen is still on the site because he hasn't officially filed his paperwork. He will ride out his contract and be suspended without pay. This leaves the door open for him to return to the team at some point this season if he decides he wants to play however unlikely. The situation is comparable to the situation with the Jets and Buff last season.

The Only League Wide Laine Trade of Sense
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wqrrior</b></div><div>At this point I think we have to view JVR as a pure cap dump. He was a scratch some games in the playoffs. Essentially moving that 1st just to dump the two years after of JVR to make the trade work. Patrick is probably capped at a 2nd liner. Clearly a risk, but as a flyers fan I think the time to move Patrick is now.</div></div>
JVR at 5.5m is pretty much fair value for a 25 goal scorer. The playoff roster was a mess, so I caution against using a handful of games after a long delay to measure who is able. JVR was most likely a victim of a complete lack of bottom six talent at center. With someone like Patrick or Frost stepping in, JVR’s game will fit much better than trying to put a scorer out with grant or Thompson.
Also I’m in the minority that says Laine is over-rated for what he currently provides. He had 3 more goals than TK this season but people act like he is a perennial Richard favorite. Add in the lack of any other aspect in his game and the moody behavior and the player screams high-risk.
