My ideal team for next season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Canucks33</b></div><div>I actually think that it would benefit Byfield more to stay in the OHL than jump to the AHL. He's a 17 year old kid who still has growing to do on and off the ice. Let him feel what it's like to be absolutely unstoppable and physically dominate the competition in the OHL. Gives him a sense of what he can do and then he can slowly work to getting to that level in the NHL.
Stutzle and Lundell both played in pro leagues, but I still don't see the point of keeping them in the NHL next year even if both of them look decent in camp. There's a lot to potentially lose (look at Kotkaniemi's progression) and not nearly as much to really gain given the quality of the teams they'd be playing on. Logically these guys have the best chance to play in the NHL next year and I would probably put them both in the AHL. Playing in the NHL in your draft +1 year means nothing in the 15ish year career you hope these guys have.</div></div>
Byfield cant play in the AHL, the CHL and NHL have an agreement that players can play in the NHL if the team wants to keep them around, but there is no such agreement regarding the AHL or ECHL until the players age out of juniors at age 20.
Which is why players who play for international teams (Zadina for example) are exempt from this ruling.

Yet, after the Cup final, last year he said " There's not any other place that I would want to be " and was an RFA, re-signed for a very good deal. Krug has been in the Bruins organization for eight years now and he loves being here... Alright he was a Red Wings fan but signing now with DET would be stupid since they're in rebuild and it will take couple of years before they're relevant... I mean, good again. Krug will be like 34 then and not much chances to win the Cup.</div></div>

You have a real homer attitude lmao. Krug was born and raised in the detroit area, his family lives there, and he grew up a huge wings fan, played for midget teams in the detroit area and went to Michigan State University. Im sure he'd love to come play for the wings especially if we were gonna give him the money he wants. But i dont think stevie would want him. By the time we're ready to compete he will be declining.

How much of nyquist have you watched? In my opinion he's pretty underrated. He has made the best of what he had around him. We havent been very good, and he's been one of the best players on our team. Hes a very good passer, no stranger to scoring, skates well - not the fastest guy, but hes fairly agile and has good vision. He's not elite, but he's a very good all around playmaker that doesnt get enough credit for what he does playing on our garbage team lol

What do you mean? These trades would be great for detroit, and somewhat address the needs for the teams involved. I think the returns are skewed quite a bit in favor of detroit, but these trades would most definitely benefit detroit.

MCF 2019 TDL and controversial offseason
I dont think 2020 pick is going anywhere. Especially not for kapanen, yeah hes a great player, but with lafrenier, and 2 to possibly 5 other HUGE names in the 2020 draft i dont think its one that should be played with, at least not until we see where were at, at next years TDL. If were in a playoff spot, then yeah we can trade it for a playoff push, but anything short of that will imo will be too valuable to give up. If you think Ottawa probably giving up Hughes to Colorado is bad, imagine if we give up a little Crosby in Lafrenier to Toronto for Kapanen.

Laine for Stone
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>littlejerryseinfeld</b></div><div>It's a wild statement you made and utterly ridiculous</div></div>
You never know man, he's only 20, and has put up 105 goals. After 2.75 seasons that rounds out to roughly 38 goals per year.
Ovi is 33 and has put up 644 goals.
Starting from laine's first season in the NHL, at 38 goals per year, by the time Laine is 33 he should put up roughly 570 goals, if he continues at the pace he is on.
Obviously that is less than 644, but its pretty close. and that assuming he continues at the pace of 38/year, if he goes on a tear for a couple years that number raises quite a bit.
So yes, he has the ability to be close to, or even possibly as good.

I believe i said "probably going to be" not is, so theres no need to be snippy.
He has the potential, its only a matter of whether he has the drive to do so and if the jets can surround him with proper talent to really maximize his goal scoring ability.

I don't think Nyquist makes it to FA, either he'll be dealt at the deadline, or re-signed in DET.
I'd find it incredibly hard to imagine that the wings dont trade him and then walks for nothing.

More like Stone and a 1st for Laine, but even then i dont think its enough.
Laine is ice cold, but you cant just give him up for a good player and a single first.
The kid is going to be (probably) close to or even better than Ovi over the course of his career. I'd imagine he's pretty untouchable unless its for McDavid or something.

With the players going back to Edmonton, i was thinking top 3 protected and nothing more.
Talbot has had a down season but he has the potential, probably wont re-sign and i dont think we'd even look to re-sign him anyways. We probably just bring Howard back in the offseason. Petrovic is just to make the $$ work, he probably is gone in the offseason.
Puljujarvi is a prime canditate for a fresh start. I dont think he's a bust, i just dont think its working out in Edmonton, so we take a chance, same with Svechnikov going back their way.
That leaves us with Jensen and AA for a 1st that could be as high as 4th overall this year, or potential lottery pick the following year.
To me it makes for a decent trade in my opinion.

Its a plausible scenario, but not really what the best for the team.

Yeah, i mean its realistic, and definitely encouraging. You should have thrown the player you most expect us to draft into the lineup (assuming you think they would be ready straight from the draft), and i would personally prefer to not be sticking Karlsson with DDK, if Karlsson comes over, stick the best kid defenseman we have with him on the top line. Not an pylon like ddk

To be fair on all the Voynov hate, his wife seems to think he has changed. So i guess if the victim (one who spends every day, or most days with him) has forgiven him, and said he's changed, i would take her word for it. Of course that does not justify his actions, however i do believe in second chances. I dont necessarily want him on our team, but i think he does deserve a second chance.

Detroit after 2019 Trade Deadline
Idk about drafting Newhook, of course if Jack Hughes is available where we are picking then we go with him. Otherwise i think we should be looking at Bowen Byram, or Anttoni Honka, especially if we trade for Julius. Honka is probably the 2nd best defenseman in this upcoming draft after Byram. After those guys then i would say Newhook if hes available.
