Vlad needs to play to be worth anything of real value. He'd be excellent deadline depth deal for some playoff bound team in exchange for a 3rd rounder...but only if he plays and decently.

Don't disagree. :) Just my expectations are that Raymond will start in GR.

My ideal opening night roster
Ras-Velano-Berggren is a great line, but I think too young for Blash to actually play. :) Probably more likely Namestnikov plays on the 3rd line with Stevens centering the 4th line and Berggren in GR.
Only other item is that I don't see them having Lindstrom as the 7th D for a long period of time. Will be interesting to see what DDK looks like this year.

You're $1.3M in the hole cap wise. You're going to have to move a contract off the team to make this work.

Agree with the consensus that more (probably a lot more) needs to go to Detroit for 3 years of Neal. NYR gave up a 2nd for just 1 year of Staal.

2021 Wings - expected lines
I don't see them scratching Smith and Cholowski to bury Fil and Frans, especially with all that cap space. They'll want Fil to play at least somewhat regularly so he can net a 3rd or 4th round draft pick at the trade deadline.
Here's hoping Svech sticks with the team.

Yeah, that's always the trick with NTCs. WIll they or won't they waive them. :)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Wait, why do the Blues take Zetterberg? Or give you a top 4 D for a 3rd?</div></div>
Z is on LTIR. Combine that with moving Faulk and they wind up with almost $10M in salary cap space to sign Pietrangelo and others as needed.

Buyout and Flat Cap Year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>redw1n9s</b></div><div>Those contracts are heinous</div></div>
According to Evolving-Wild, they have Mantha at 8 years x $8.5M per year and Bert at 7 years x $7M per year so I lowered both due to flat cap.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>I dont see lehner going to detroit hes probably going to a cup team or staying with vegas</div></div>
Also agree with the other comments; Vegas most likely can't afford to keep him unless they move out another contract. Detroit could also give him a longer-term/higher-value contract than most teams.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>I don't think a CBO happens unless the cap drops.</div></div>

Let's say he does agree to waive. Hypothetically, what would TOR package up to get rid of him?

If Ericsson was going to be bought it would've happened couple ago and he's not going to be traded either Holland is just going to let him play out his contract and retire. It's another reason why The Wings need a new GM. Holland is just too personally invested with the players. It's not a bad thing as long as it doesn't prevent you from doing what's best for the team.</div></div>
Good thing the Wings have a new GM then. :)

I would have agreed 2 years ago, but with only 1 year left I don't see the point carrying that pain forward for another year. Especially with the health issues he, Daley, and Green all have.

I don't see Kronwall getting traded at all; nor will Nyq fetch the kind of return Tatar got us (maybe more of the prospect and a 2nd). I like the Gardiner signing but think one of the other LD would have to get moved out at the trade deadline.
Can I give 3 1/2 stars? :)

Detroit doesn't need "a top 4" they have plenty of those in Grand Rapids just waiting retirements and contract expirations. A top 2; then call.
