Jets go full tank modetrade for future Does this help them long term or not
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AceCane</b></div><div>Phi trade was to acquire slightly younger dman and taking JVR for 1 year helps lower his price.
Min trade is for a potential 1st pair ofd and taking 50% of Wheelers contract for 2 years makes the deal more ideal for the Wild.
Vgs trade is for a potential #1/#2 center and another good prospect while filling Vegas need for a goalie
Think you forgot in this thread that the Jets go full tank mode for 1-2 years for a faster rebuild</div></div>
No I understand that you're trying to do full tank mode. But when you do that you try to trade your players for good young players or picks not garbage. Like the Montreal trade for example.
You're going about it in a half assed way. Trading good players for far less than their worth, taking back older, worse players and then trading away a first to move Wheeler and then taking back a cap dump in JVR. You just didn't stick to your plan.

Depending in who you ask, Holtz is a top 10-20 prospect in the entire league. Meanwhile, at absolute best, those would be the #4 and #5 prospect on Winnipeg (and that's probably pushing it). Obviously, the Devils would not be interested.

Love Connor, but with Columbus already having Gaudreau and Laine, they don’t have a huge need to pay they type of price to add Connor. Maybe a price like Laine and a 2024 1st for Connor or a 3 team trade that end up with Columbus getting Connor, team 3 getting Laine and Winnipeg getting a 1st from Columbus and picks/prospect from team 3.
Columbus needs a top line center and Johnson is the only one we have that might fit that description and with having top line wings in Gaudreau and Laine already, Conner isn’t a major need for us.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AceCane</b></div><div>You could prob take away pick from Jets but to fill goalie need i created and acquire another 1st rd pick amd help the team “tank” essentially for a top 5 pick</div></div>
That first is late and tender probably not that much greater than a waiver wire pick up in season. Even a two year rental of Dubois probably brings back a larger haul.

Jets Blow it up
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AceCane</b></div><div>I can see DK taking another team friendly contract 2-3yr 2-3mil/swayman 3-4yr 2-3mil/Zacha 2-3yr 3.5-4.5mil/ Fredrick 1-3yr 2-3mil/ Pasta 7yr 8-8.5mil(21mil) but given expiring contracts like Craig Smith, Chris Wagner, and Connor Clifton you would have more than enough to resign depth players and if you want given Bergeron signs another very friendly team deal, and at the end of the day you could still sell Wheeler if hes producing still for good price given Jets hold 50% of contract</div></div>
DK is 37. He’s not signing 2-3 year deal.
Pasta wants 8 years100m. That’s 12.5. Market has been set. He does not come in at less than 9.5 per.
Those expiring contracts are a non factor. They were already gone and off the books.
It just not feasible.
I created an ACGM for next year.
Signed Pasta-10. Zacha-5. Sway-4. Frederic-2. Brought up Lysell, Beecher, Studnicka, Greer for cheap options to fill roster.
At that point they were 1m under the cap with a 21 man roster and no allowance for bonus overages.
They will have to move contracts in order to sign Bergy and DK if they choose to continue and make improvements , like Reilly, Forbort, Coyle, Ullmark as possibilities.
Taking on extra to this mess is just not an option.
Good talking to you. 👍🏻 I gotta get to bed, long day tomorrow.

What Shouldve Happened
It did not appear Fitzy put a full court press on Gaudreau. It sounded to me like we made an offer and didn’t call him back when he wanted to say “yes”. Once Fitzy had boxed out Philly and NYI, it sounded like he bailed. Or maybe he just felt obligated to kick the tires due to he personal connection to Gaudreau family. Who knows?
Gaudreau is one of my favorite non-Devils and it would be awesome to see him in Newark. But I also subscribe to the belief that signing him may not be the best long-term move.

Morrow would also be a non-starter. I think this is probably a little much with Drury. I think Suzuki would get the Canes to bite the bullet, but I think Drury is a bridge too far. He's the only NHL ready forward prospect right now, and they already need him to fill the 4C role. I can't see Drury being used.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AceCane</b></div><div>Well given he had 17G-43A-60P in 65 games played last season and boston would be acquiring him already at 4.125mil for 2 years if you count this season would be very easy for boston to retain another 50% on his 4.125mil contract and still come up on top of a deal next season if they were to get Wheeler then trade him on his last year of contract . That being said if boston were to retain 50% of his contract next year he would only have a cap hit of 2.06mil against boston and any team involved</div></div>
You obviously have not looked at their cap situation next season.
The reason they did not buyout Foligno was they could not carry his dead cap hit next year. They sure as hell are not retaining anything.

He has a 16 team no trade list, he can be moved. Boston is also 2.5M over the cap right now with one extra player on the roster according to this site. Also seems like the majority of Boston fans want to dump Foligno and Reilly and this gets them both off the roster while also making them cap compliant. Don't forget about the 6'5" almost ppg player the Bruins get.

4th/Glendening-Steel-Kiviranta
Other than that only thing id change is taking the 3rd round pick away from MTL trade. A 2nd rd 2023 picl alone would prob get the trade dome but as far as Faska goes idk much about him either, to me with what ik he would just be a sweetner to the deal</div></div>
I'd said the trade is actually fine. 3rd for Allen, 2nd for taking Faksa. Or vice-verse.

Not too awful, just my personal preference.
