Chevy missed his big swing
Looking at the Seattle Expansion Draft, I'm kind of glad that Chevy didn't pick up players with term or any players that would be RFA's after the season, as it would create complications for the expansion draft, so I'm not too unhappy with the fact that we only got Benn, maybe he can regain his form here and be an X-factor for the playoffs?

Sure the Jets need defense but shouldve also made this move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tsyls</b></div><div>I might be in the minority, but I think what Chevy did was fine. It sucks we didn’t get more but that’s okay. Saw what’s Toronto was doing and saw the high prices and didn’t overpay to make a trade. Yes I would’ve loved to see Oleksiak or Manson, but they would’ve had to pay a pretty penny.
Now on the other hand, if Chevy doesn’t do something this offseason to really improve the team, I’d be pissed at that point. I’m okay with rolling with what we have now, but if it doesn’t work out, he’s gotta make something happen this summer.</div></div>
At least in the Benn deal, we get a veteran defensive D-man that could play top-4 or top-6 minutes, without giving away any futures. If the Jets D isn't vastly improved and doesn't look like this:
Morrissey-UFA RD (Hamilton?)
Heinola-Pionk
Stanley/Samberg-Poolman
Then we might as well just admit that we don't like defence and don't want to win a cup next season.

Next Year With This Years Trades
Idk if the Jets want to pick up a D-man with term after the end of this season. I would love to protect Stanley and maybe have Seattle pick Demelo, while maybe getting Oleksiak or Goligoski this year as rentals. I just really like Stanley's game and am excited for his potential.

Assuming Bryan Little Returns Next Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tsyls</b></div><div>I think there’s like a 10% chance that he comes back. I’m rooting for him, but obviously health comes first. With the issues he’s dealing with, there’s little chance he’s back but I’m hoping for the best. I think Chevy makes 1-2 trades at this TDL, but likely just pure rental moves.</div></div>
See, the issue with getting rentals this year for the Jets is that there is a clear problem for the Jets (defence) and every team that has rental defensemen is going to take advantage of the fact that we are desperate for better D and will bump up their prices, but lets hope that the Jets find a way to make some smart moves, would love to see a long play-off run this year!

He can step up in the lineup if he's playing with a very mobile partner. Z thrives in a zone strategy not a man defensive.</div></div>
I feel as if Morrissey is fairly mobile and would be best suited with a bigger, defensive D-man like Zadorov, thats kind of what I was going for, but who knows if the two would click

I like his size and has some playoff experience, not as old as some of the other defensive options (Savard, Ekholm) and could be signed for a decent price tag long term, only issue is expansion draft protection with both Stanley and Zadorov being available, wouldn't want to lose either :(

Defense Upgrade
I think we should put him on the first defensive line with Morrissey, as Morrissey needs some help defensively, whereas Forbort and Pionk have been consistent together, and Stanley with Demelo worked nicely last few games in Calgary.

sabres offloading at the deadline
As a jets fan, I dont think the Jets make that trade, as they need that extra top-4 defensemen now, and not next season (as Jake McCabe is injured), but if the Jets make a splash for Ekholm, then this is an interesting trade for next season.

SEA from the expansion draft simulator
I do feel like Lowry will be left exposed, because he will be a UFA at the end of the season, but it doesn't make sense for the Kraken to pick him up, as he could just sign with another team and it would be a waste of a pick on him. I think the Kraken would be better off choosing someone like Demelo or Beaulieu from the Jets, and flipping him to a team like the Pens for a pick or a prospect.

If we could get Ekholm with just Niku and a first, I would go for it, but I feel Nashville will be asking for more. I like picking up Hamonic, but it would be sad to see Harkins go, although he deserves to be playing consistently.

I like the trade targets. If we did end up pushing for these trades before the deadline, then I would put forward the following for Ekholm:
Kristian Vesalainen, Logan Stanley, a 2nd from this year and Columbus' third from next year. (Jets would not want to give up a first round pick, especially with Vesalainen and Stanley on the board).

I don't think the Jets do this deal, as Ehlers has always been a lethal threat and as a fan, as well as through the eyes of management, I wouldn't want to lose him for a second round pick.

From some of the mock drafts I have seen, it feels like Seattle is going to be stacked on D, and have some good picks at goalie, as well, though. I honestly wouldn't mind losing Harkins and adding Beaulieu to the deal? The Jets have a lot to consider for this expansions and this could all change come trade deadline if there are some moves to be made, so who knows :/

Maybe Hamilton does stay on the east coast, but what team is competitive and can afford his contract on the US East coast?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tsyls</b></div><div>This is very good for your first post!
I like a lot of what you did, the top 9 looks unreal. I agree that Perfetti gets the Connor treatment (one good thing about Pomo). Hamilton likely costs 8.5-9m like others have said for 6 years, stastny I could see taking that deal. While yes it’s a pay cut, he loves it here and he gets to play with unreal wingers. Even if you give him 4 or 4.5m it’s still reasonable. I hate saying this, but I think pionk is going to go to arbitration. Unless the Jets give him what he wants, I think it could be another trouba situation only due to the $ factor.
Also, poolman back for 1.5m, while sending Beaulieu to the moon would be ideal to shore up that 3RD spot.</div></div>
I like the Poolman idea, he has been pretty solid, I assume we trade Beaulieu for a pick to a team like Pittsburgh who needs some grit and some D help?

Thats fair. With the extra cap space the Jets have, they could outcompete other competitors for Hamilton, but I think that the way he is playing and at his age, I agree with you, he would be looking for 6-7 years, 8.5-9 mill.

How much do you think Hamilton would ask for? Similar to Pietrangelo, 8.5-9 mill? and Stastny would hopefully take a pay cut to stay on the team, but if Pionk could be signed for less I would put that money into Stastny with some of the extra cap space that is available
