Yeah about $2m/year too much for Reinhart, and he hasn't played much center for a few years. When he did, he wasn't very good there.

Playoffs for Eichel
I would not give up this year's 1st for Hertl unless we drop back a few spots because of the lottery. Having his 3rd knee surgery in 7 years and missing 1/2 of 3 seasons because of the injuries would be risky. When healthy he's great, but you have to wonder if he's going to slow down from the damage to his knees. Also, only two years left before he needs a new/ bigger contract. Building for the long term with the pick is a better idea. Besides, pretty sure we're not on his 3 team trade list.
Not adding a 2nd in the JP trade. A 2nd or TT. If they want a 6th or 7th, then perhaps. Edm is dealing a guy that they don't want and that doesn't want to play there. That should lower the return a bit.
Would rather sign a guy like Dillon than resign Montour. Don't want to ask a RD to play LD again.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MadLin27</b></div><div>
Matthews isn't inflated by anything Marner or Nylander does for him. He produced playing with Hyman and Brown when all of them were (basically) rookies.
Matthews led the league to start 2018/19 playing with Kapanen.
</div></div>
He is though. What those other guys did and still do to help Matthews is they give teams more than one line that they have to worry about. Jack's never had that opportunity.

</div></div>
Never can prove/disprove it, but I would almost guarantee that if Eichel was playing for Toronto all along his point totals would go up a lot and Matthews would take a huge hit if he'd been playing in Buffalo the whole time.

Buffalo also only has had Eichel's line that other teams had to worry about, whereas teams had multiple lines to worry about in Toronto.

Yes, you're 100% correct. The guys in front of the goalie has 0% relation to if a goalie has a good SV% or not. In fact, you could probably throw 5 forwards out there all the time, because the goalies SV% won't be affected. Defenders don't really have any purpose I guess.
At least that has been Toronto's philosophy for years.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>what? he had a 47.0% CF%, 47.4% FF% and an even wors expected goals against%. You also realise PDO isnt player controlled right? It's simply a tool to measure, for lack of a better term, luck. a 100 PDO basically means that they were neutral in luck (its shooting% + Save %) and anything over 100 is 'good' luck and anything under is 'bad' luck. So, you're basically arguing that Zadorov was benefiting from a higher than average on ice shooting percentage and/or save percentage.
as far as hits, lol, yeah that's an utterly meaningless number and no one who knows anything about stat cares about that.
You should really understand what stats mean before you use them</div></div>
Over 50% for both at EV. And both goalies had a higher SV% when Zadorov was on the ice short handed. Also he was on the ice for the 4th best SV% among the dmen on the team, which puts him right around the 2nd pairing that I inferred to originally. If you think PDO is just luck, then I don't know what to tell you.

Positive Corsi and Fenwick, PDO over 100, about 70 more hits than the Leafs highest checker all while starting 55% in the Dzone. This year on the ice for 3 SH goals for and 11 against with a remarkable 108 PDO while shorthanded.
You should really watch these guys play before commenting on them.

I don't think that Kane is worth more than Nylander either tbh. I definitely think Nylander would be a much better fit in SJ, but I'm not sure if the Leafs would ever contemplate trading Nylander. Nylander is also 4 years younger with a much higher ceiling which than Kane. I would LOVE to have this trade done, but I don't think Toronto would go through with it.</div></div>
Does Nylander add anything to the Leafs that they don't have in the other guys? Kane definitely adds a different element that they loss when they traded Kadri away. The age thing isn't a big issue to me, because 4 of the top 6 are still 25 or under with JT the only other guy approaching 30.
Being a Sabres fan, I would much more rather face Nylander than Kane and wouldn't think twice about it.

In any case, do you think Zadorov + 3rd for Kapanen is a fair trade in isolation? Their salaries are roughly similar so I suppose it could work.</div></div>
Really depends. Is a second pairing LD that is a shutdown guy and hits everything in sight worth as much as a 2RW 50 point winger that is a good PK guy. Don't think Toronto needs a LD, but I don't think Colorado needs a RW either. The only reason that the original 3 way trade worked is because Toronto needs to shed salary. Perhaps the better trade is Zadorov for Zacha. NJ could use a big, strong LD and have a lot of center depth and cap space to offset the difference in salary.

NJ already has $15m tied up in RD, unless you think they CBO Subban, it doesn't make sense.
Sabres aren't trading Risto for that garbage offer.
Don't think Greiss is an upgrade from Hutton. His numbers playing outside of Trotz's system are bad.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RawZuccSauce420</b></div><div>Sorry, I have to disagree here. Kapanen ≠ Labanc 1 for 1. Kapanen is better. Also it has to be him or Sorensen because I'm tired of both of them and they both need a change of scenery. I'm also not sure SJS would be willing to trade top 6 talent (Meier, Couture, Hertl, Kane) because we're already so short on high end offense. Toronto would never trade Nylander and Kapanen for Kane, Sorensen and picks I don't think. If you wanted that trade to have a chance of going through, you'd probably have to change the 2nd to a 1st rounder.</div></div>
Kapanen 202 gp 41g 49a
Labanc 284 gp 50g 99a
Labanc has better PP numbers and has better playoff numbers while Kapanen has better PK ability.
Also, Kane is more valuable than Nylander, but Nylander may be a better fit long term in SJ than Kane would. Especially with the team being older up front and Toronto being relatively younger.

Only conditions are that Kapanen goes to SJ and Labanc and/or Sorensen goes to TOR. You can decide what the other pieces are.</div></div>
Would think Kapanen for Labanc straight up would be fair. Don't know if SJ would do that after Labanc gave them that cherry $1m/1yr deal to help them out.
Not sure why it has to be him or Sorenson?
I would try a bigger deal involving Nylander and Kane. Salaries are very similar and Kane would bring back what you loss when you traded Kadri. Even more.
Nylander and Kapanen for Kane, Sorenson, a 2nd and a 3rd.

Lets not pretend like he doesn't have unreal speed and plays on the pp and pk.</div></div>
No, pointing out contradicting statements. Some say he's stuck on the 3rd line behind all this depth, and that he would do better on a higher line. Yet a lot of his points came with the 1st and 2nd liners. Some say he doesn't get much PP time, but you lauded his PP and PK ability. Yet, he's 8th in TOI for both the PP and PK.
It seems that Leaf fans don't even know what his role is, but still want a kings ransom for him.

Quit trying to raise their value then. He had 13 goals and 5 were set up by Tavares or Marner, 23 assists (13 of which were secondary) and 8 of them were on goals by Tavares, Nylander and Matthews. Let's not pretend he played with a bunch of scrubs all year.

This is hilarious. Stick to Buffalo if you can't understand hockey</div></div>
Closest comparables at the draft that were traded last summer are:
Burakovsky for Kosmachuk a 2nd and a 3rd
Haula for Nicolas Roy and a 5th
That offer is more than fair, if not an overpay. Kapanen won't be as good getting traded to a less talented offensive team.

Buffalo would never offer that. Potentially two players that could be as good or better and would be cost controlled for a while, a 3C and a 2D.
Also, not leaving enough money to sign our RFAs looking for big raises next summer.
