full first overall team with a few second overalls
I would put RNH over Lafreniere at this point.
*Edit - my bad, just saw RNH on the roster

I think it’d be better if PIT moves POJ than Pettersson. Marcus is very good and proven.

Yes he’s still good. But STL should try to get RNH + 1st. I think he’ll explode under a good coach.

Man a few years ago I would’ve said Pettersson but now not so sure. I guess you can never judge a player based on their first few seasons, which is why we should be more patient with Lafreniere as well.

That's going to happen if the player is reading the play but doesn't have the skill or confidence to execute his decision. I think NYR need to make a decision with him cuz if the coach can't find ways to help, then he needs to be sent down or traded.

Not that I've noticed. His defensive metrics are right about average this season. I think he plays extremely physical, finishes checks and digs for loose pucks. My only observation is he has the tendency to panic and defer when he gets the puck in high traffic areas, but it's not going to get better if he doesn't play.

The Rangers basically use 11 forwards every night cuz the coach will bench Lafreniere after the 1st period. It happens every game.

Honestly its Schneider or nothing from the Rangers but he's untouchable apparently.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tsyls</b></div><div>If we could get Laff + Schneider in a package that would be ideal. Rangers fans have him as untouchable but I think it’s pretty clear from an organizational standpoint that he’s not untouchable. I think jets would be better off targeting like a top prospect from a team. Like florida could work if they can figure out the cap, imagine getting lundell from florida somehow.</div></div>
I'm not sure how good WPG's coach is but my understanding of the Lafreniere situation is he just needs to play. The NYR coaching staff will play him for the 1st period and if the team is losing, he will only see 1-2 more shifts the rest of the game. But when he plays, he has been extremely physical, winning puck battles and able to make clean passes into the slot or through the middle.

I'm a neutral party here but I have to admit, I never really liked Scheifele . He just looks like a really mean and inconsiderate person, some of the things he has said and done like the Evans hit really made him difficult to like.

Do the Penguins want out of the Zucker contract
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Imagine875948</b></div><div>Thats a no from PIT. We shouldnt have to pay to get rid of him. He started picking up his game before he got injured again</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>I'm definitely beating a dead horse here, but the Pens aren't paying to get out of Zucker's contract. They really don't need to. Yeah, his scoring hasn't been great and he's not worth his $5.5M, but he's been playing very good hockey and only has one year left.
Plus, coming from our very own GM, he's not paying for teams to take our players, so there's that. Also he said he's only interested in hockey trades, not cap dumps.
That said, I think this would be a smart move for the Pens, but it won't happen.</div></div>
I think this is just a cap dump cuz Ferland is on LTIR, so it’ll be a move worth considering since PIT needs to resign Geno, Letang, Rust, Rodrigues & Heinen.

Homerism? If Matthews needed a new contract at this age and achieved the same as Geno, I bet you’d want to keep him as a Leaf for the remainder of his career.
Also, age has not effected Geno. Sharing the ice with Jack Johnson and Covid was the only thing that got in his way, he has been fantastic.

Come on man. Erod has only played a few games with Sid this season. Also, Sheary is on pace for 50 points this season playing with Eller. Seems to be the Penguins are simply good at player development unlike your stinking team.

Also OP, I think Kapanen is not a great fit for PIT, I would try to trade him for Lafreniere or another struggling prospect with top 6 potential. The Penguins organization is great at developing prospects and I think Lafreniere fits the type of player that'd work in their system.

I think while it is concerning that Shane hasn’t put up much production, it’s not the same situation as Yakupov. I would say Shane is similarly to Lafreniere, more of a 2 way player who does the little things right but can’t get on the scoresheet enough. Nail was an off the board pick but has more skill & transition ability than both Shane & Laf. I think he and Nick Ritchie are similar. Have the ideal talent and build for a winger but extremely lazy & clumsy.

I don’t think Laf is worth much but if he were in the Pens system he’d develop excellently. He’s a very intelligent and hardworking player like Sheary & Hornqvist, it’s only a matter of developing the puck skills to rise to the next level.

Fair enough. But I heard the Sabres refused to accept Lafreniere as part of the package for Eichel, so his value may not be so high.
