New idea thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jacketsman61</b></div><div>Ok apparently you never paid attention this season at all. Korpisalo was selected as an all star this year. But got hurt and couldn’t play. So yeah, it wasn’t just the playoffs, although he really took his game up a notch. Korpisalo is probably the most under rated goalie in the trade or UFA market. The only reason Columbus is considering moving him is because Elvis is just as good and the pipeline is full of more good goalies coming.</div></div>
Do you really think I would say he was mediocre without stats and facts to back me up? In the playoffs, he was great, that's just a fact, but he wasn't that good in the season. Playing behind one of the best defensive teams in the league, he had a save percentage of only 0.911. His -8.94 GSAx was one of the lowest in the league as was his dFSv% of -0.64. He was worth 1.2 WAR which was only 36th in the league and he struggled with medium danger shots. The only reason he was an All-Star was because of a bunch of wins he got leading up to the game and the fact that CBJ didn't have anyone playing lights-out at the beginning of the season. He's still somewhat young and the playoffs showed that he could become a good goalie, but he just wasn't great this season.

Why are people obsessed with trading for Korpisalo? I get that Andersen could be traded and I understand why, but Korpi isn't a great option. He's 26, only has 2 years left on his deal and was honestly pretty mediocre this season. His trade value has gotten way too high and he's become overrated because of the playoffs.

Making smart trades your thoughts
I know that Niskaken is a great player, but you don't trade a 15th overall pick in a good draft, a solid d-man and a solid prospect for 33-year-old with one year left on his deal. There are better ways to get a defenceman.

Crawford would never sign that deal. He's definitely getting older, but with the season he had this year, he should be a able to sign a multiple-year deal (with a pretty big number) with a team that desperately needs a starter.

Realistic Leafs
I've always liked the idea of getting Lyubushkin and I like that trade. I don't think Zadorov would be a great player to play with Rielly (he's not a great defender).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jambo</b></div><div>Montour can play and steps in as 1RHD on the leafs right now...could play with Reilly or Muzz...to say he'd be third pairing in Toronto is just blind loyalty...this is what teams do, they address weaknesses by dealing strengths. they get Kahun back who gets points and has decent potential too. Could see BUF still doing it still if they put Mittelstadt in the deal.</div></div>
The problem is that Montour isn't what the Leafs are looking for as a top-pairing guy. We need a shutdown D-Man with great defense and solid puck-moving to play with Rielly. Montour doesn't have that.

I don't think Brodie and Slavin should be scratches when Ghost and Klingberg are on there. Both better players defensively and not far off offensively (Ghost especially was horrendous this year).

Kapanen is worth more than Montour. Montour just isn't very good and Kappy is a young guy with great potential.

Sandin will most likely end up better than Murphy and Dermott could as well. Johnsson himself is also valuable. The fact that we're the ones adding picks is kind of weird.

I don't know if Demers would be a great fit. He's not amazing defensively. Or offensively for that matter. Even a guy like Lyubushkin on that same team would be a cheaper option.

The best rookie in the league (arguably) and a future Norris winner for a second/third liner and a couple of AHLers. That's gonna work.

Is Morgan Reilly a top 5 dman
Last year you could easily make an argument. This year, he definitely wasn't. Still was one of the better offensive d-men in the league, but his defence was really bad. The fact that he was injured for a while and that he seemed to be playing hurt probably helped that. I think he'll probably be a consistent top 10 to 15 d-man in the league if he can improve his defence a bit.

The 2019-20 All Defensive Team From Each Team
I'm not sure what's going one here. I know for sure that SH points, takeaways and ice time are not the best way to judge a player's defence. If you factor in deployment and take into account the quality of teammate and competition, things are a bit different. Playing on the PK doesn't mean you're a good defensive player. Someone might get played on the PK because of a lack of better options like Zaitsev on the Sens. Overall, stats like xGA and CA and more advanced stats like EVD and the use of RAPM are more useful. If you take things into account and isolate a player, you can really see their defensive abilities. Guys like Risto, Zaitsev and Doughty were at the very bottom of the league in most defensive stats and guys like ZAR were at the top.

I see what you mean. I wouldn’t say he’s significantly better but he probably is a bit. I don’t know how important he is to the Coyotes, but he’s definitely a good player and the way he shoots is a big thing. I think the picks could probably be higher but I don’t know if they’d be willing to give another player.

Honestly, Engvall trade could go anywhere. I just picked a random team since I have no clue who needs him.

I know. Those aren't necessarily the guys I'd be targeting in particular. Just those kind of players.

I'm honestly confused as to why people think he's a good option for our team. He doesn't provide much offensively and is statistically one of the worst defensemen in the league defensively. We could get a more defensive guy that brings similar offensive value for much less (guys like Weegar, McCabe, Oleksiak, etc.).

He still has the potential to be an NHLer. Good signing. Could still make the team if we need a cheap option.

Maybe not a 1st. Burakovsky is a really underrated two-way forward, Jost is probably an improvement on Kerfoot and Werner has some potential. They should add a pick tho.

I really don't think that much would have to be given for LA's first-rounder. Drysdale will be an amazing player, but there's no guarantee he becomes as good as Marner alone.
