Even IF IF. I must preface this that Zegras can return to form and not be a flash in the pan. Hes redundant in Montreal. They already have guys like Caufield, Farrell types in their org. These perimeters players should never be the target on a team that clearly lacks size and punch up front. It’s team building afterall and not the NBA!

There’s a difference between underrating a player and flat out trolling you’ve already been told Harris is a good asset on Montreal so even if it was an honest mistake you arent even trying to show any levity at all but resorting to the lame and played out tribalism with this franchise has a few bad fans which represents the whole fan base
Stick to your lane in Vancouver. You aren’t close to understanding value here.

It's truly sad to see a storied franchise, whose followers were once considered the most knowledgeable in hockey, McDonald's-ed down like this.</div></div>
Oh good Lord get over yourself. Zegras is getting horrible deployment, this is a theoretical trade site so forgive ppl for using the site as intended

And they have 12 picks in first 3 rounds the next 2 drafts. They need actual players RN not more magic beans. They wont have enough contracts to give out. Nothing about this trade makes any sense with zero research.

More off
That Florida trade seems like the baseline. As closer the draft gets and more information gets known about where the Jets pick will be around 22-25OA and the prospects profiles becoming well known.
It's a price each team should be able to live with and follows the Newhook trade model. Florida would be able to sign Reinhart and Montour without having to negotiate the new Lundell deal and use the pick as collateral for an older replacement to Lundell ala Ross Colton.
Then, have their cheap young RHD, Barron, to replace the old vets they brought in over the Summer like OEL, Kulikov.
I have Hutson as the 7th D and PP specialist. The Habs go with 11F and 7D for much of the year.
Dont think you need to bring up Reinbacher so soon. Keep him cooking with Mailloux in Laval.
Keep Xhekaj-Savard.
Get Guhle away from Matheson. Play Harris on the right.

To whoever has 2nd overall
Very doubtful WPG falls to 20th overall as Toronto and Tampa would both need to pass and they play each other multiple times down the stretch. There are only 8-9 games left.
The Jets pick will be between 22-25 if Jets don't get past the 2nd round. Habs arent falling below CBJ and they arent catching the Pens/Sabres. Its Yotes/Sens/Habs at 5-6-7
I really dont think trading up to 2nd overall is worth it. Celebrini is far above the rest. There's a clear fall off tier. There are multiple top6 forwards with size you can find in the low 20's and around 5-7 overall with the Habs pick.
Iginla+Sennecke > Demidov
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JeffGorton</b></div><div>Because Helenius, Eiserman, or Catton arent as good as Demidov and the Habs dont need those 2 extra 1st rounders</div></div>
I think they trade that Jets 1st round pick with a defensive prospect for actual top6 IF they dont get their guy in the draft. Someone like a Lundell.

With the retention it’s interesting. Dvorak is a decent Center that will easily replace Henrique if he doesn’t want to resign cheap and he’s 6 years younger so less risk with a year term left. Ideally not giving up a 2nd but finding a Center of his ilk at a 2M cap hit is a great deal after paying a 1st for Henrique!
We can’t say oh it’s a late 1st so it’s nothing for Henrique at the TDL then flip out over a pushed out 2nd in 2026
It makes no sense

He's easily top2-3 last year. He's right behind Connor with his current scoring clip in NCAA and that toolkit. Comparing Will Smith to him is a wild take. He's world's more explosive over Smith who's game may not translate as well to the NHL.

The Habs are much better off rolling the dice on guys like Demidov, Iginla, Eiserman than another reclamation project like Zegras.
Keep both 1sts while drafting Iginla and Sennecke is my hope. The Jets pick will be around 22-25 unless they go to the conference finals. Both guys look like legit top 6 pieces and will be available around picks 10-25

Give me Iginla on their own pick and Sennecke with the Jets pick then i'm happy. I wanted Benson last year, badly but called they would take Reinbacher. I think if they dont win the lottery they'll target Lindstrom as well. I would hope that they would grab Dean Letourneau with the Pens 2nd if they are really size obsessed.

No Habs fan want any of those players. Harris > Faulk and they dont spend 6.5M AAV for the next 3 years on a position that they need to purge with 8-12 projected NHL'rs they need to fit with 6-8 spots on the backend next season.
They have 12 picks in 1st 3 rounds in the next 2 drafts. They'll be trading for a top6 forward. Nothing like this ACGM but another Newhook/Dach acquisition. Lundell in Florida is almost in the exact same position as Newhook was in Colorado as a potential cap casualty with RFA rights.

Harris is worth a lot more than that. They'll just keep an elite skating puck moving top4 Dman that makes 1.4M.
The Kovacevic price makes more sense.
Harris is above Kovacevic on the depth chart
Zegras isnt worth a top8 pick much less the other pieces added on. Pass.

Anderson isnt a cap dump. Hes human and has had a bad year. Even 30 year old Drouin figured it out this season after years of mental health and consistency problems.
Makes no sense for the Habs to dump Anderson and pay for it. They have 20 million in cap space and arent a contender. You dont wash a car just to wash it yourself after taking it to a car wash. The team has purged what they needed to purge. It has to make sense to pay to dump assets. They are into acquiring assets through trade not giving them away.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>phillyjabroni</b></div><div>I wouldn't expect this to really impact the market for Monahan, as they aren't really comparables other than the sense they are centers and (potential) rentals. Lindholm is a selke, top-six forward compared to Monahan who is a good middle-six pickup for a contending team. VAN is the best team in the league by record and makes more sense to pay a premium for a premium player. Monahan is a nice powerplay/faceoff guy, but I wouldn't really put these two in the same category.</div></div>
Oh yes! I remember when ppl were saying Lindholm was this Uber effective player and Monahan was just a specialist.
Turns out Monahan at PP1 and line 2 is far more effective on the Jets as opposed to 3rd line PP2 Lindholm when he’s in the lineup.
The return keeps growing with the Jets losing streak.
1st rounder from Winnipeg figures to be between picks 22-25 overall as opposed to the Canucks pick to the Flames between picks 26-32
If the Habs can get a Beckett Sennecke type that late. It would be the best asset in either trade.
Kuzmenko has been unreal on the Flames playing with Kadri and was robbed of a hat trick last night with a stoppage on a phantom high stick call.

First, congratulations to Casey going from a bottom feeding totally lost organization to a recent Stanley cup team.
Second, congratulations to Chris MacFarland for filling need and giving up an injury prone LHD.
Third, This is a horrible deal for the Sabres, FIVE left handed defensemen?
Colorado needed a second line center, Buffalo does not need a fifth LHD especially one who is injury prone.
Buffalo should have held out for MUCH more.
Colorado and Casey are the BIG winners in this trade, Buffalo huge loss adding a defenseman when the team is struggling to score goals.</div></div>
After the honeymoon period. This is still on point.
This trade was bizarre and Sabres fans didn't understand overloading the left side while sacrificing their best center.
Byram had a small scoring streak and doubts were put to rest.
Now?!
The trade is looking really bad right now. I just don't get the plan here at all. Why did we need to trade maybe their best forward, certainly their best playmaker, to get a 11.5m defenseman a partner who has pretty much the same strengths and weaknesses?
