Same could be said about Chiarot, yet Yzerman inked him with big contract. Dumba is, despite his shortcomings, a fit for Detroit. They need a Top4 RHD and he's one of the better ones in the market

I get the point you are making but with Vrana in the Player's Assistance Program it is absolutely classless to include him in the post. No Wings fans said anything like that when Drouin entered the Player's Assistance Program.

Thread:
Unloading to tank
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy739</b></div><div>This post is going to get rough when DET and LAK fans show up
LAK is trying to Publicly trade Walker one of the 5/6 RD they had skated with Edler out leaving only Mikey Anderson i believe it was left.
I've done many trades with LAK and with this deal no LD can leave only Sean Walker who is just as sketchy with his injury history as Edmundson so value isnt far off.
I just dont see any Context where a team with the NHL's Largest Surplus of NHL D all the way to the AHL level has to over pay for a mediocre Defensman
I mean i love Eddy for reason like last night him arguing on the Anderson Ejection turning it into a Power Play for MTL in which Suzuki scored.
If that was Suzuki or Gallagher there then the games over and you're not convincing the Ref's that as bad as the hit was trying to 5 v1 a guy while successfully 3v1 him cant go unpunished via the NHL's 2nd man in rules from 30 years ago implemented to stop Line Brawls and Bench Brawls. He can make arguments like that while Suzuki can learn from them Gally really just barks at the Ref's trying to bully them into submission which rarely works. (the Brad Marchand Approach)
Eddy's Value is as a leader
On ice his offensive upside is in serious decline as his back gets worse each year the torque required for a big shot just isnt there without causing damage.
That said his Veteran Presence to a Rebuilding team is worth it as worst case he goes on IR best case he educates the youth.
Matheson for Walker really would make the most sense
MTL could likely squeeze a 2nd round pick out of the trade without Retaining , more if they do retain.
They get turn Petry's return into a 2nd and 4th round pick while acquiring a RD who is lesser but plays at the same 2nd pair level.
Its a loss sure but no where near the loss that MTL is holding in their hands now.
If Matheson was a RD we wouldnt consider trading him for a lesser player in Walker
But the reality is that he's not and if Savard goes down our D core will be chasing its tail and Allen's barely acceptable NHL numbers become unacceptable through no fault of his own.</div></div>
As a Detroit fan I see this and think why in the world would Montreal waste draft picks to tank. That's it.

:laugh :laugh An injured Norris who's more than likely out for the season, 3 worthless scrubs that add 0 value to our team. And a 1st and 2nd round pick for our Captain and high end elite RHD in Seider. Yeah when hell freezes over and Arizona actually becomes relevant.
You'd need to offer us a 1st round pick just for us to take your scrubs off of your hands in Joseph, Hamonic and Zaitsev. Let alone adding 2 more 1st round picks one for both Larkin and Seider.
Larkin with an extension = Norris+Ottawa's 2023 1st round pick+Ottawa's 2024 2nd round pick at the very worst.

Well this does not get it done. Sorry.
1st rumors are that they are looking for a 1st round pick a tip prospect and a good cost controlled NHL player. You deal does not have that.
2nd Arizona does not have to trade him unti they get wan them want, because ehe is signed to a contract and their term. They might change their minds as his contract nears.
Lastly, in this deal where is the top prospect? Yes good propsects but nothing blows them away. And adding Hol to make the deal work for you is a non starter no matter what unless you pay to make it work
Come on you ha e tonunderstand that.

No no no, there is a clear difference between Matthews and Mcdavid. Matthews definitely got closer this year, but the gap is still so far apart between the two.

New Trade Idea
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>Barrie is a perennial 50 point RHD making just $4.5M. If he is indeed overpriced and a cap dump as you guys claim, then please list out all the RHD in the league that can put up as many points while also being cheaper than $4.5M annually.
Foegele has similar stats to Hagel and Goodrow. He's got value to any playoff team. I can understand why Detroit wouldn't be interested as they aren't a playoff team, but don't discount his ability to contribute to a Cup Contender.</div></div>
First, Tyson Barrie is not a "perennial" 50 point defenseman. He's crossed the 50 point threshold three times in 10 seasons. And not in 4 years. Second, he's 31. Third, he has no idea where his own zone is. Also, If Foegele was so easy to trade you would have done it already.
The value in this trade is horrible for Detroit anyway you look at it. Hronek is 7 years younger, has 3 more years of team control, scores at a similiar pace and yes; he costs less...

DAL gets cap while DET gets xp
Dallas receives
- a 23 year old center coming into his own and has improved in each of his first three seasons and is RFA protected
- an offensive second pairing D at 24 who two years ago led the team in points, while also a RFA in two years
- a b/b- prospect…
Detroit receives
- a 28 year old center who is more expensive and less productive than the 23 year old center heading to Dallas
- a 36 year old goalie who played 9 games last year and would be the third goalie making 3 million on The Wings
- a defenseman who turned the wings down right before the decline (choosing Minnesota which actually saved DET a lot of money)
- 2024 2nd doesn’t mean much
- 2025 4th makes less sense
Title should be “Jim Nill tries to Yzerman Yzerman”
