DNVR my preferred deadline
Provy is lighting it up right now in the ahl. Hopefully with a season down there he can come back next year with full confidence and basically be kaapo. I'd rather keep him. With that being said i don't think kaapo would be a terrible idea for a backup. I just don't think it makes sense to give away provy when the goalie pipeline is pretty thin.

They could have grabbed kuzy for free if they really wanted him, that's a major waste of girard.

Manson is really up and down right now with his play, so i wouldn't mind getting tanev. If we could resign one of them i'd be fine with moving both 1sts but that might be tough especially if landy comes back.

Need more than just players
I think a big thing right now is our lack of captain. Obviouly macks skill is unmatched and everyone respects that but I don't know if players respond well to Macks intensity and basically yelling at them when he's starting to get heated and mistakes happen. He holds himself to a higher standard which some guys just can't get to and i think landy was perfect at bridging that gap. Landy kept a cool head and had the maturity we need in a leader and without him i think we're a ship without a captain. after this year hopefully we can know if he's coming back or not and if he's not we can move the C to someone else, although i don't know who can handle mack like landy could.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NMAvsFan</b></div><div>Honestly, I think Avs fans need to give up trying to trade this team to SC contention; it almost never works and is typically extremely wasteful; they have very few assets and need to commit more to drafting and developing well. Is Morgan Frost going to put this team over the top? Adding Mitts by trading Byram? Those options are unlikely to work the way people want them to and it just puts them further behind.
The core still has a lot of years of strong play left but they need to remake the team a bit more organically. Gotta see what's going to happen with Landy, going to have to figure out the G position after next season, probably going to have to shed at least one D (Manson is the most likely to go and he <em>should</em> be the one traded). Ultimately, they're going to have to be patient and work their way back to top contender. I can see it being a situation like Pittsburgh: win a Cup the have to wait several more years to get back to the final but win a few in a row or within a couple years of each other.</div></div>
I know what you mean but i think with the current core group we've basically past the point of drafting and developing. Unless we move byram for draft capital we won't be drafting anywhere near the beginning of the draft so odds are the earliest we would see any new prospects nhl ready is 3 years. We're gonna be a completely different team in 3 years from right now. We missed on a few of the higher picks which could have helped out right now (newhook, jost, kaut).
You're right on the money with the point about landy though and with that being said i think you basically have to trade for a temp 2C or else you're basically throwing in the towel on this year and after last years disappointment i think burning 2 years of the cores prime years would be a mistake.
I agree we could be like pits since the guys are still prime right now but we'd need the 2C. Crosby malkin could have average wingers and they'd produce because of the center skill. While Mack can do that we don't have anyone on 2C that can carry that load and give us another top scorer against 2nd line D.

i thought he was fine at 4C. outside of his speed he's really the ideal 4C good at draws, and grinds. Between cogs and parise he'd be fine for this run. Plus if anahiem eats half henrique we can fit him without worrying

I mean that was basically a playoff game. High intensity, physical and emotions were running high. It was a good game on both sides. Nice to see annunen play really strong as well. I think you throw in a temp 2C and nichuskin and we probily generate a few more chances. I don't think a game like that calls for trading away byram.

i think henrqiue makes a lot of sense. He's producing this year and can slot in 2C. There's no commitment next year if landy decides to play again, and if landy doesn't play i think you could squeeze another year out of him at a much cheaper rate.

Offseason
a 4 mil 2C is hard to beat value wise, the price seems steep but i assume thats what they would ask for him though. i think it might be better to not do the joshua signing and break that into 2 4th liners as kovalenko could play 3w and we've seen LOC do it for most of the season as well. Gives you an extra skater for a cap strapped team.

i'd be fine with the johansen roslovic swap, i don't really know what the values are on them but the 2nd seems high to trade .i don't think we can afford a back at 2.5 the next 2 years though 1.5 is probily the max.

Laughton Comrie TDL
i don't think it's really a 2C solution. I think this would be better suited for next year. Personally i'd like to see colton move to 2nd wing and then laughton could slot 3C. still leaves us with a hole at 2C for next year but that would all depend on what landy decides to do for cap.

it really only becomes an issue if landy comes back. outside of that kovalenko basically slots in for drouin and you've got pretty much the same top 9 including nelson.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xqb15a</b></div><div>The reported price of a 1st rd pick. It is decidedly bad business to pay a 1st rd pick for a 4th line guy. He has zero 30pt seasons and he isn’t going to be the 3C with Colton in place. Throw in Bednar plays the 4th line less than 10 minutes and you know that goes down in the playoffs. Throw in COL needs a guy to drive play, at least with guys like Monahan and Henrique they have a history of it.
I think it would be poor asset management, I mean he played 17 minutes last night and I didn’t notice him.</div></div>
i don't think you really watched the game if you didn't notice him. He was +1 with 17mins of ice time had an apple in a 6-3 game with 65% faceoffs, while throwing more hits than anyone on the avs roster. He was noticeable to say the least.

I personally wouldn’t do either, I’d roll the dice on some one like Roslovic or pony up and try and get Frost or Mittlestadt.</div></div>
when we won the cup in 2022 we traded our 1st, 2 2nds, 3rd, jost, helleson, barron and timmins. no one even bats an eye after because we won. I'd say i have less going out right now and if we win the cup this year no one thinks twice about whats going out. Plus to get mittlestadt or frost you'd have to give up atleast what i've got going out so i don't really see your argument about the amount.
Roslovic and henrique is a pretty lateral move i'd say except you have a better idea of the player you're getting with henrique. plus dowd looked really good last night and is a big step up from our current 4C and with retention is a great deal for two years.
