I actually agree. I'm not even convinced that Gibson is a good idea at all due to what Anaheim's ask will be along with his recent struggles + his contract. If they made a trade similar to the one here though without moving a first or one of the "big four" forward prospects I think that I'd probably be good with it

everybody will probably yell at me for these trades, <strong>but why not instead say what the teams would be looking for in return for each player? </strong>Can a framework be made around the players in the deal?
Has it not been rumored that Calgary could be looking to move a defensemen? With Tanev being 33 going on 34 with 1 year left to UFA would he be a candidate to move or no?

Buffalo Fans
A big problem with moving either of these players for Buffalo is contract however. Cozens is locked in to a very reasonable contract for a 2c for the next 7 seasons. And Owen Power was a No 1 OA pick 2 years ago who hasn't been disappointing in any way.
Cozens being so young would mean that they would need to acquire a new legit 2C that has a comparable contract. Boldy isn't a C, but similar in value I believe for Minny and Zegras for Anaheim (who will likely bring in a higher AAV).
I don't believe that BUF would include Cozens in any deal for a comparable player though, because of his intagibles and the fact that he's a known commodity to them so they would need to be acquiring a player of a significantly higher tier (with term) to even consider moving Cozens.
Much of the same can be for Power, the value of the player to the franchise likely outweighs his value league-wide so they would have to be acquiring a player who is young, with term, and of a higher level of player.
Being strong down the middle and on D is extremely important (IMO) to winning in the playoffs so moving a young talented second line center and a defensemen who can already provide top 2 dman minutes for you is unnecessary

Think what you want man, but since I'm the GM in this ACGM I'm not giving up a ton to go and get Carter Hart. I don't have access to his analytics, but his numbers have been below league average or hovering right at it for 3+ years in a row now. It was nice that he had that really good playoff run 4 years ago, but its a what can you do for me now league and I simply don't believe that he has "franchise goaltender" potential. That's my opinion. I'd be happy to see him prove me wrong, I like the player a lot, I just don't see it that way. And TK had a really good season, don't get me wrong on that, I think that he's a really good player, but he's not a franchise winger or something.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sk540</b></div><div>I think that's still a little bit too much on the PHI side. I think BUF would have to add something more. Maybe a prospect like Rosen and another mid level pick. Hart and TK alone are probably worth at least 2 firsts, a 2nd, and 2 prospects. For their age, cap hits, and performances thus far, that would be a steal. And the prospects you included, one who has nose dived since a solid first half as a rookie, and another goalie prospect of which we have several of, doesn't really tip the scales for me.</div></div>
I can see adding a bit more from Buffalo, but in reality I think that Carter Hart is more valuable to Philly and their fans than league wide (at least probably to me). He's been a solid goaltender since coming into the league with a really strong start and then some struggle and since then he's bounced back, but I wouldn't say that he is all-world or a franchise changing goalie. I like the idea of Buffalo acquiring him because he can be a reliable option to tandem with Levi as Levi begins his career. IMO Konecny is a good top 6 winger and a high end middle six winger on a good contract. I don't think that he is one of the best players in the league or anything though. That's why I didn't add more to the deal.
13OA is significant IMO along with 39OA (opposed to a late 2nd, they aren't all created equal). VO 1/2 retained is easily worth a 2nd and a 3rd to a contender and if you retain again you can probably get a first in the range of 22-32 from a contending team next year as a rental. UPL is to give you another goalie who has played a decent amount of NHL games. obviously a downgrade from Hart, but serviceable and hey maybe in a different system than wide open buffalo and another year of development he can be flipped or retained as a tandem vet for your future.
I do think that you are probably right that a prospect could be added, but I wouldn't go so far as Savoie, Kulich, Rosen, Ostlund, or Levi. I understand that those are the players you would like to add I just don't see you acquiring those types of assets in a trade for either or both of these players.

Vanecek when traded to Washington was 26yrs old and had a 2.68 GAA / .908 SV% / 6 SO. Swayman is 24yrs old and has a 2.24 GAA / .920 SV% / 9 SO
^The only comparable of the two is they both play goalie.
As for the OS, Boston easily matches a $4.2 million offer and either moves Ullmark or takes a hit elsewhere.</div></div>
One of them has played behind a historically great team too. Make it UPL and a second MAYBE, but saying a "High-end prospect" or a first + is silly IMO. But again, I'm not an NHL GM and I don't spend all day every day creating valuations on players and scheming trades. I made this on my lunchbreak in 15 minutes as something I'd like to see :tearsofjoy
And I think admitting that fitting in a 4.2 AAV contract will require you to trade the likely vezina winner this year or "take a hit elsewhere" immediately disqualifies it from being "easy to match".

Maybe, but every fan also has unrealistic expectations for a return on their players.
Swayman is a quality 1B goaltender w/o a contract on a historically great team. Andersson is a very nice Top 4 defensemen, but lets not act like he is a franchise level player here. We have to at least be a little honest with ourselves sometimes.
Cant put them both in the same position though..

Seems like that would be an unprecedented return for an RFA goalie with no contract who has never been #1 or even 1A IMO. I looked at Vanacek to NJ as a reference.
Also, I think you would have a difficult time matching a 3x4.2 AAV offersheet which would only net a 2nd. I could be wrong though I'm not an NHL GM haha

Honestly, I think you are giving a bit much in the Meier package based on what other expiring forwards are getting so far.. I could be wrong, I just think that everyone tends to overvalue their own assets just a little..
Blais, RD prospect in the ECHL at 21, a late 23 1st and a 4th for Tarasenko w/ 50% retention and a fringe Top 6 D. I'd personally be a bit disappointed if we gave the full asking price that the Sharks want based on that and the Horvat deal..

I also agree with the players that want to be here, but Reinhart called Kevyn back to apologize for not completing their goal and McCabe was like half in half out at the end it seemed. A lot different then trying to get O'Reilly, Eichel or somebody else who slammed the door in our face on their way out.

Like I said, Boston doesn't care about picks plus with what we are getting isn't that interesting. Make it a top 10 pick minus the 2nd round pick and now we talk. Otherwise, Boston declines.</div></div>
https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/boston-bruins/line-combinations/
We aren't watching the same games, I'm watching the Sabres who I'm pretty confident you aren't watching (and why would you when you are a Bruins fan!), but acting like this is a complete non-offer is silliness.
And fair enough, but I'm confused as to why you'd rather have pick 10 then, picks 12 & 55? Also, acquiring a draft pick doesn't mean that you need to draft somebody, you could also trade those assets to acquire "win-now" assets...
P.S. you should review some of your fellow Bruins fan ACGM's because they are giving Carlo away for a lot less

It's a high first and yes Carlo is a top 4 dman, but they play him on the bottom pair, so downgrading a luxury asset, adding ~3mill in cap space, and boosting one of, if not the, weakest prospect pools in the league isn't as bad as you are making it sound and that doesn't include the second round pick

I understand where you are coming from here, but, like I had said earlier in the comments, I am trying to show Sabres fans that there is cap room over the next couple of years to make a trade or signing of a really high-end player such as Meier!
Also, I think that Rosen is a little slept on being a lottery pick in 2021, Ryan Johnson was a first and could play in the NHL now, but wanted to go back to school (if he doesn't sign he returns a 2nd rounder for comp) so yes I agree that this definitely won't be the final package, a bottom 6 (fringe middle 6) roster player w/ team control, two recent first round picks, and two seconds is not the worst offer you are gonna see on here :)

Also, please note that Savioe would be in Year 1 of his ELC in this season of this example. I don't think that I would mind seeing us go after a guy like Meier (if we can sign him to a decent number) and rolling out:

Krebs-Savoie-Quinn
I think that a top 9 like that has plenty of variety amongst the wingers and the centers, but that is just me
