(CAR/PHI) - Rizzo, 2025 5th (CAR) for Kase
This is Don Waddell doing the Flyers a favor imo. Adds context to why Flyers bought out DeAngelo instead of trading him for rizzo like originally thought.
Instead Carolina got him at a cheaper AAV. If I had to guess this was agreed upon when that happened.

Los Angeles Kings signed Anze Kopitar (2 Years / $7,000,000 AAV)
Kopitar is still good an all but I struggle to understand why LA would give out a 35+ contract a year in advance. **** happens and there is no upside for them to do this. It's not like Kopitar is ever going to leave or won't let you sign him around the deadline or offseason

Dude was terrible on Montreal, but the Nostaligia that him and MacKinnon will play together again gives me chills. MacDog and Drouin together again :D

(TBL/COL) - Colton for 2023 2nd (MTL)
Colorado essentially turns Newhook into Colton while also getting a 1st and a prospect.
Nice couple of moves for MacFarland.

(PHI/STL) - Hayes for 2024 6th (STL)
I get it it's a cap dump, but only a 6th? I figured the Flyers might be able to get a bit more than that for Hayes 50% retained.

Neither guy is that good; PHI wins by default by virtue of the 5th.

(EDM/CAR) - Puljujärvi for Puistola
Not gonna lie JP to CAR was the easiest fit to call ever. Kind of surprised it took this long.
I'm a little worried that it doesn't do much for them, but I like the bet on JP so it's hard to not like this for the cost

Look at those numbers. You don't spend $5 million a year for those numbers. You don't give up a 2nd round pick for those numbers.
You usually have to give up assets to get rid of those numbers.

This could turn into one of the best contracts in the entire league. Fantastic AAV and term for a guy looking to become one of NHLs best defensive defensemen for the rest of the decade.

He'll be their most expensive goalie this year, but not next year. Jones is getting $2,916,667 next year to not play for them.
