Its over
Take out Olausson/Foudy and Shea and add RyJo and I would consider it. (Think it is light for Pitt personally)
1.5 years of Crosby (and likely a few more on a vet deal)

Girard is truly not an offense first guy. He is a transition first guy. Someday this misconception will die out.
Don't see it as an upgrade at all for the Avs beyond the cap space.

but we get an injured Dermott too, and the Avs clearly need more defense if they even want to try and win

EJ is definitely not keeping Byram from "playing up" in the lineup.
Avs aren't paying a 2nd for a guy your own team won't sign when they could just toss a no compensation offer sheet his way.

Thinking out loud here
I'd be surprised if a Canadian team is on EJ's list nor do I think the Avs would move him for a player like Kerfoot after he helped win a cup.

As soon as I saw the Avs as the first trade I knew when I opened this Drouin finally becomes an AV.
2 picks is probably a bit much though.
We don't even know if he'd like Denver enough to stay on the entire season

They will need to at least address either their 2nd line (Kadri and Burakovsky likely gone) or 2nd pair RD (if Manson isn't re-signed) in a Girard trade.
Since Girard can play either side, they may as well keep him unless it is a hockey trade

Avs trade the more proven dman on a good contract as "cap relief" and get back an older fringe NHL dman AND a 4th round pick?
Seems like they should at least get a 3rd rounder out of that.

Cost to acquire vs value:
I think Pysyk would be a suitable #6/7/8 for the playoffs and helps with the Avs needs
and Pysyk is more typical of a Sakic TDL pickup than the big ticket guys.

I think there may be a little something headed back to the Devils on this trade, but not much.
Really depends on if the Avs are fielding multiple offers on Graves.
I think Graves holds value around 2 2nds, otherwise the Avs could just sacrifice him to Seattle.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Anus_McLeod</b></div><div>Compher is fine, but he is overpaid and it could be tough to move contracts. I would hate to lose Saad because of Compher, especially with the emergence of O'Connor, so this is an option.
JoJo is definitely re-signed. I just didn't do it here since it wouldn't show up anyway. As for O'Brien, I don't care about him so much as just having a relatively capable 13th forward that doesn't miss out on development by sitting in the press box. It could be anyone that's cheap.
Hopefully that at least explains some of the logic.</div></div>
I think we lose Saad anyway.
Between the younger guys coming up and this rumor of something "big" being worked on at the TDL, I think Sakic may be looking at another Burakovsky type move.
