Thank god we moved a player with no future in our franchise and got a draft pick. Finally. A future asset. Not many 5th rounders pan out but at least it’s a chance.

Hart well worth at least multiple 1st rd pks. RFA, played 3+ seasons as a starter, hes ready to blossom, and he can carry EDM to the cup for multiple seasons w/ McDavid and Draisatl

This trade clearly favors Philadelphia. Even with obtaining the buried Petersen cap, getting Clarke (8th overall, 2021) and Byfield (2nd overall, 2020) along with another 1st rd pick is simply too much to pay for anything on Philadelphia's Roster. Oh and Phoenix Copely is 16-3-1 right now.

There is no way in <strong>HELL</strong> the FLYERS are taking on MORE salary in exchange for JVR (4.5x2=9M, 9M>7M)...It makes no sense for the Flyers to clear cap space for this season...its not like they are competing this year...the Flyers need contracts OFF the book in their entirety...not to drag them out...AND PAY A 3RD RD PK ON TOP!?JVR is DONE AFTER THIS YEAR...we do not want to prolong that by having 4.5M on the books next season...itd be like having JVR under contract another year....

The Flyers give up on Ratcliffe and Ginning for a lateral move of 1/yr 7M for 1/yr 5M...JVR will hopefully score a few goals and get moved at the deadline for a 2nd or a 2nd and a 3rd after the Flyers retain half of his salary.

Abandon Ship
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>markus</b></div><div>Rare high-effort AGM.
I do think that if we're abandoning ship, there'd be no reason to make trades just for the sake of making trades, we should be trading players with actual value for futures.
The Hayes trade makes very little sense for both teams and is unrealistic due to Hayes' contract, but for the flyers why would they want to trade Hayes if they're abandoning ship? His 7m would help hit the cap floor given we actually abandon ship and he's a great leader/locker room guy for the young players.
A Laughton trade is also questionable due to the leadership he provides along with how undesirable he is (I'd want him as I think he's very underrated but I don't think any GM of another team would say the same). Same type of situation as with Hayes.
I think it'd make a lot more sense to trade guys like Konecny and Provorov. Although they're young enough to stick around through a rebuild, they carry high values and can net a 1st+ return each. Trading them would also help us stay near the bottom of the league for the sake of good draft picks and also allow us to take on bad contracts for more forward-looking assets.</div></div>
I understand your points. I would have no problem moving on from Konecny and Provorov, HOWEVER, trading these players WHEN THEY ARE ENTERING THEIR PRIME has MORE POTENTIAL FOR DISASTER. Simply getting just a pick might not be a good enough return for each them because they each have All-Star potential... rather than trading aging veterans like Cam Atkinson and Kevin Hayes. There is much less risk for a GM to trade these type of players, who :
1. Have value that is undisutable
2. Have a high salary, so if they are move the FLYERS get assets in return and
3. If future assets are. not on the table then the FLYERS should at least seek at bare minimum cap flexibility.
This is what we see in the deals I have put together. If not for the exact players. This is what they should be searching for. Players on 1 year deals with high salary that could be potentially flipped at the trade deadline for even more assets...

Yeah I agree, this trade does pose a salary cap problem. However, in my explanation I note that it is likely Sanheim gets moved at the deadline, however allowing a prospect to play NOW rather than later could be beneficial for player development. The idea here is that Hextall drafted Sanheim and at the Midway part in the season the cap hit on Sanheim would be much less and Sanheim should command a First rd pick somewhere, if not Pittsburgh for the discount at 1/2 Price.

How is Boston adding just under $4.5 million in cap space to their current roster?
Why would Boston help PHI get out from Hayes overpriced contract? Is their incentive the guy who you deemed "will NOT pan out" in your description? Doesn't seem like an enticing deal for Boston.</div></div>
You raised excellent questions. Cap space is definitely an issue. When using this trade feature it showed me Philadelphia's cap under Boston, and I couldn't see where Boston's cap was. This trade would have to be reworked for sure, but if the cap gets figured out I think Boston would entertain the idea of adding Hayes. C depth is obviously important, Hayes is a great teammate, he would be a big upgrade over Zacha, and he expertly controls the puck and the pace of the game.
As for Frost, Boston wouldn't really have a spot for him to develop...this is essentially adding a prospect who could get a call up if there are injuries..who has upside and can help build the prospect pipeline...I say that he won't pan out in Philadelphia, obviously i don't have a crystal ball, he could develop in Philadelphia or elsewhere, the point is that Frost does have value and that in a deal of this caliber where Boston is already getting the better player, there is more incentive to eat salary for an additional price...and that price is a prospect who was a former 1st rd pk and has potential to be a Top 6 player.

Additionally, the Flyers could entertain RETAINING some of Cam's cap in exchange for even MORE future assets from Columbus who is, without a doubt in WIN NOW MODES, which is EXACTLY what the FLYERS plan of attack should be.

Cam is only 300K more than Gus...so it is close enough that the Jackets will be able to maneuver the cap.

(CGY/FLA) - Tkachuk for Huberdeau, Weegar, Schwindt
How was Florida allowed to trade the conditional 2025 1st rd pk they traded to Philadelphia?
If Florida happens to get a top 10 pick in 2024, the FLA 2024 1st Rd Pk they traded to Philadelphia becomes the FLA 2025 1st Pk...
What happens then?.....because CGY just got the FLA 2025 1st Rd pk..is the Conditional pk status therefore waived and Philly gets the 2024 pk even if it is top 10?

CGY still lost an enormous future asset...just enough flair in this deal to make Flames fans buy-in and forget that they just lost Tkachuk and Gaudreau. Panther 100% won this deal.

Is that supposed to change my mind that your trade is dumb? Because it doesn't. Philly will have a chance to be #1 overall. They will not trade that pick to get rid of JVR. As bad of a contract as it is, it only has 1 year left, JVR scored 24 Goals last season. Murray has 2 years left at 6ish Million. I dont care about Ottawa but it appears they avoided making a horrible deal and made a pretty good one in trading Murray to TOR.
Again your trade is bad, it makes no sense. Thank you for your time.

<em>No central registry for trade clauses?!</em> Are you kidding me? That's an incredibly simple thing to keep track of, considering how much information NHL Central Registry already has to track of. If CapFriendly can do it, NHL Central Registry can, too!</div></div>
I am 1000% interested in Contract law and working for a NHL legal team and/or Front office and I would like to know if the 10 team NTC is a year by year thing, or if the 10-team list is due at the signing of the contract and is not allowed to change, because if it is the latter then this trade will most likely be reversed.

Voted for Anaheim for the sheer fact that Vegas didn't do due diligence for Dadonov's 10-Team NTC. Any team that doesn't do their due diligence are clear losers. What the F*** is going on in Vegas right now? Also, the Ducks just find a way to be competitive while rebuilding. I gotta say, I'm a fan.
