Minnesota selling
I doubt Edmonton would have much interest in trading that package for such an underwhelming return. They're very high on Akey, rightfully so.

Edmonton has no reason to trade Desharnais, he's been fantastic. A couple replacement-level players wouldn't be of interest.

Enjoy the TDL bud. Maybe next season will be the Sen's year. Feels like we've been hearing that for awhile now, though.

Don't see Edmonton having much interest in this, as Foegele has been excelling in a top-6 role.

Why would Edmonton have any interest in acquiring Edmundson? The Oilers are set at LD and Edmundson is a lousy defender with chronic back issues. You're completely delusional if you think they'd offer up either of Lavoie/Bourgault.

Edmonton isn't trading their 2023 first for a mediocre, injury prone player who can't defend without relying heavily on cross-checking.

Just don't see any incentive here from Edmonton's perspective. JP is the better player with a higher ceiling.

No interest from Edmonton, they're already thin at RW. Pulju has been solid in his role and has top 6 potential. Jost for Foegele would be more realistic.

Optimized Oilers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>All of those guys combined aren't worth Tyson Barrie, and very likely none of them will have any impact at all on this Oilers roster. If your point was to stack the AHL team with old has-beens you've done a good job, but you don't trade a perennial 50 point NHL rearguard for that.</div></div>
I appreciate the dialogue.
To address your notes:
1. Ennis is an effective depth producer, Tippett's poor coaching isn't reflective on the player.
2. Nash; Irrelevant depth piece signed to fill a roster spot in the AHL. No impact on the Oilers salary cap.
3. Stone; Irrelevant depth piece signed to fill a roster spot in the AHL. No impact on the Oilers salary cap.
4. I included Virtanen because of the Oilers reported interest, he'd be fine as a depth piece.
The motivation to trade Barrie is:
1. To retain value in a trade and maintain our offensive depth, rather than selling low on Pulju or giving up additional assets to move Foegele.
2. Opening up cap space to sign McLeod.
3. Opening up cap space to allow for the addition of Holl.
4. Becoming cap compliant while fielding a complete roster.
I respect Barrie more than most on this site and can appreciate the elements he brings to the Oilers lineup. However, I think it would be in the Oilers best interest to consider moving him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>So you think trading Barrie for a next to nothing just to sign a bunch of losers is a good strategy? I just don't see it.</div></div>
I view Barrie as a cap casualty. His role has become redundant due to the emergence of Bouchard, as well as Broberg likely being promoted from the AHL. Trading Barrie for a modest return opens up cap space to sign McLeod and add additional depth to the lineup. It's a better solution than selling low on Pulju or strapping an asset to Foegele in order to move his cap hit.
Holl would be a solid partner for Broberg/Murray and would help to suppress zone entries, which the Oilers struggled to do throughout the previous season.
