If you really meant the #19 overall, I'm not so sure its that easy for CHI to move up unless VAN are looking to move down also...

Very Doubtful CHI would consider using a 2nd for a year of Beauvillier.

Value is fine, but why? you move forward a year and maybe a couple of spots in the order.... Doubt they would be doing this sort of move in the current off season.

Expected Moves

A little egregious although dumping cap does cost. Yam won't cost (2) 2nds though may be deemed to cost more than 11 spots in that region. Not a bad outcome if this is the result however as CHI may be able to deal him at the TDL.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RasmusDahlean2</b></div><div>Ruuta isnt that bad, Chicago needs to increase their cap hit to hit the floor, Yotes got a 3rd in 2025 for taking on 2.5m of Kane's contract, in which they didnt even get a player.</div></div>
The Yotes only took on very minimal Real $ and still got the 3rd! Ruuta has been at CHI so we know all about him and we don't need defensemen and don't have any issues reaching the cap floor. Again, I will reiterate that teams looking to take on cap dumps don't actively pursue mid to late round draft compensation as a priority when looking to weaponise cap space.
Maybe ship Rutta off to VAN, they got cap space now and could be open to getting paid to do so if they feel Rutta could fit...

Not sure Grz gets a 2nd, though CHI certainly aren't the team to be buying defensemen at this point in time.

CHI doesn't need to take on cap for the sake of taking on cap. The 4th is not the sort of compensation teams looking to take on cap, go after.

$6.5m in real money and a guy who will take up ~7% of your cap... Its no small detail for CHI.

The going rate for that sort of salary dump is a 2nd. Hawks hold the leverage on this and can stick to their guns. They don't need him so his portrayed value is non existent to the hawks. Its purely the draft capital and with multiple teams wanting to shed salary, the teams that can take it will have the ability to hold out firmly.

Agreed. 3 Forwards and 1 RHD with our first 4 picks.
Also doubt Willander falls that much and no point us taking Dragicevic when we took Rinzel last year.

Why not? Because CHI don't want to take on Mantha for a 3rd. A 2nd for that sort of money is the going rate.

Competitive but Rational
Garland albeit would get top 6 mins isn't a need necessarily and we don't need to be paying to reach the floor. Katchouk made a good impression at the end of last season to suggest he could be a very handy bottom 6 guy longer term or at the very least fetch a 4th at the TDL for a contending team looking to add some grit that can skate with a bit of skill to their depths.

Going to need to remodel that proposal for CHI if your intention is to land Murphy. He's a important part of our lineup and can play big minutes in a coveted RHD position naturally.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>IDKtbh</b></div><div>I agree with everything you said except for the part about needing to reach the cap floor. Signing a free agent RHD for $5m solves that issue/difference quite easily. I do however think if CHI did do something like this, I’d still do it from chicagos perspective but I’d want a lot more.</div></div>
Yes, the cap floor is a minor thing, the retention is huge and to give DET of all teams a top D man for 5m for the next 7 years as a CHI GM can get you fired.
7 years retention is far too long to even consider without a mammoth return which no team in the league would be willing or should do, the move can't happen.

Boeser isn't worth his cap, this is true. However, its not enough for us to move up 8 spots that high in the 1st round.
If we aren't adding another pick based on this proposal, we'd likely have to add a decent prospect. Its probably easier to part with a bit of draft capital seeing as we have so much and also still have the capacity to get more.

I could see a move like this happening with us. I used VGK in a previous rendition of ACGM but COL also meets the criteria.
