I can't handle another year of Tyson Jost. How many chances can you give this guy? 1 single point in 12 playoff games. Logan O'Connor outplayed him.

I definitely disagree with paying paper bones 4mil x 2, give him a "prove me" deal 1yr x 2.5mil. Stay healthy</div></div>
So he's worth more than a 2nd, but not worth $4mil? Which is it?

Yeah not sure what happened to the D pair. Supposed to be
Graves - Makar
Girard - Byfyglien
Byram - EJ
Cole
Forward lines are correct. Nuke isn’t playing 4th line, he’s too good.

2020 Playoffs - Taylor Hall
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xqb15</b></div><div>Personally I’d rather go a cheaper route in Toffoli or a cheaper more versatile one in Namestikov. I think that Hall like contract would be a serious albatross considering during it’s duration the Avs would have to sign basically everybody besides Mikko and Girard to extensions, especially with all the chatter of the cap being flat the next couple of seasons. Now if he would take a short term deal 1 or 2 years by all means.</div></div>
The thing is, I think all the contracts will work out long term. Erik Johnson, Donskoi, and Compher all finish their contracts just as MacKinnon comes up, so there's the money for him. Landeskog will probably get a ~$3mil raise, which would be opened up by the Calvert/Cole contracts expiring, and Makar will probably look for around $9-9.5mil. It's definitely possible to sign Hall long term, you'd just have to trade one of the 3rd/4th liners that are making more than they're worth.
Avalanche are in a very unique, and fortunate situation where they not only have the assets for a star player, but the cap room as well.

Killorn
I personally would rather avoid Killorn. This past season was somewhat of an anomaly for him, as he's never performed to this level. This was his first time hitting 20 goals, and he was shooting at an unsustainable 20%. He's also under contract for 3 more seasons after this one, and has a NTC which would give them issues if they ever wanted to move him.

Avs Acquire Palms In Offseason
Don't think you even move the needle on Palmieri without a 1st rounder at the very least. Guy was on pace for 32 goals, and I don't really see a reason for NJD to trade him. Probably going to be their captain at some point.

Good lines, I expect to see something like that. Though it wouldn't surprise me to see <strong>Namestnikov and Nichuskin switch places at times.</strong></div></div>
I could see that. I really hope they let Nichushkin loose in the playoffs. I feel like he was dominant defensively, and would show up big time in the playoffs!

Gibson will never, at any point, be worth as much as Rantanen or Makar. To stay that you need two of them to get Gibson is absolutely ridiculous.

Big Avs Trade Rumored
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>I think Newhook is a very good prospect, but let's not go off the map and think he's the next coming. <strong>15 GMs passed up on him</strong>, and while he's a ppg in the NCAA, there re 17 other guys ahead of him. Zegras being one of them.
Something is up between these two teams and rumor is a Crow or Lehner and a forward speculating Strome or Saad. Two of those players will not be cheap.</div></div>
When does that have any impact on how he's playing? He has 32 points in 28 games, same as Zegras, but has 5 more goals. Newhook is a top centre prospect, don't kid yourself.

Possibly, just an idea for a trade. Zadorov is a top-4 D and still has more upside. When he’s on his game he’s completely dominant. Shut down Pastrnak earlier in the season, don’t think Pasta had a single shot.

Exactly. Sakic has made it clear that their top-3 prospects (Timmins, Byram, Newhook) are completely off the table. I think the deal makes a ton of sense for both teams.

Yeah, but most guys took the 5-6 year deals this offseason. Rantanen, Aho, Marner, Matthews all took 5-6 years and kept the aav manageable. I think that's what they're looking at with Makar, very similar to Rantanen.

If Makar puts up 70-75 points in his rookie year as a defenseman, do you think his agent is going to settle for $7.5mil? Thomas Chabot signed last year for 8 years x $8mil, and he had 55 points in his second season.
Makar is a franchise type defenseman, and the Avs are well aware of that. He's staying long term to be their superstar blueliner, and he's going to be treated as such.

Justin Faulk has next to no value now that he's being paid $6.5mil per year. Rakell is worth a lot more than that, and he's young, Anaheim isn't trading him for nothing.

Avs already have a young good D core: Makar 20, Girard 20, Zadorov 24 and Barrie 27 (plus Timmins 20 on the way) they are young enough.
Drafting high end F prospects needs to be the next priority, not another D man. Avs promising F prospects after Bowers and Kaut isn’t that exciting.</div></div>
I just couldn't pass on Bowen Byram. I think he's got 1D written all over him, and regardless of whether you think they're stacked on D, I'm taking the best player on the board.
If I'm being honest, I think Chicago takes Byram anyway, so this won't be a talking point.

Kind of brings to light just how screwed they are. All these trades and you still only have $300k in cap room for next season. Zero chance you get Kapanen and Johnsson under $3m at this point.

That's a bad trade for Colorado. Barrie is much better than JT Miller, and there just isn't enough to offset the value that COL loses, especially since they're taking on an absolutely terrible contract in Callahan.
