The Nylander Trade
Thats rough for a retooling/rebuilding Blues. And i know theres reports saying Nylander is after 10 mil... but thats nutts to me. I dont think he should even be getting 9. 8.75 seems like a solid number for Willy

2 - I like 1sts, too. I do not like overpaying for them. And that prospect is the exact type of player we are trying to move out. I'm not interested in spending trade value on things just because they have value out of context. Ya know what's worse than paying Krug 6.5M to play for the Blues? Paying half that for him to play elsewhere.
And he's not waiving for NYC anyway, so this is all moot. Army just pulled a ridiculous fleece, and we probably lucked out that Krug did not waive. Be patient. It's gonna be okay.</div></div>
Worth and not worse. Just my opinion. We'll see what happens though, just hope Doug pulls one more rabbit out of the hat today. All this agm stuff is pointless anyways lol we shall see and react

I would make this deal in a heart beat. A 24 1st and a decent prospect for 3.25 mil in cap space we otherwise wouldnt have...sign me up. Nobody is taking on Krug without retention, we could probably pay someone else to retain and flip him but that would be cost us assets. Ny declines this though

Yeah but Krug cant skate for **** other than dancing along the blue line on the PP which has fallen off a cliff this season anyways (understand theres multiple factors here) and while Leddy isnt great, i think he's more dependable defensively in an actual 2nd pair role, is cheaper+shorter term and isnt injured all the time. He's looked better lately even though he's still logging way too many minutes and hard match ups. Yes Krug to philly is weird with Deangelo there

Thread:
Krug and Provorov
I like moving Krug... and personally really like the fit of Provorov on this team but i think theres a better way to go about this and thats definitely steep for him. Buying out Scandella is worthwhile if you're looking to add this summer and could use the cap space. And retaining a bit on Krug is worth it imo to make his contract more palatable for another team. I dont think Philly is interested in Krug but their gm sure has made some blunders. Even so i dont think giving up 2 first to swap the two is worth it or the right approach rn for the Blues. If theres a swap i could tolerate one of the later 1st and some other pieces in a package (not Bolduc, Neighbours, Snuggie, Hofer, Perunovich)
Edit:thought about it a bit more. A late 1st + mid pick/prospect is more than fine for Provy imo. Im not sure im paying a 1st to dump
krug still though. Like i said id add other worth while pieces to a swap, but not an additional 1st or top prospect, no way jose.

Yes, for sure. Meant regarding guys that may take more term/money like ROR, Barbashev and Sunny. 1 year is fine for any of them imo but not likely other than Acciari.

I dont think its worth spending all the way to the cap with this free agent class unless we're doing 1 year deals. We absolutely should move Krug even if it takes up to 2m per retention. Scandy is worth buying out if we could use the cap space next season, otherwise flip at the deadline or let expire. And i dont think anybody is coming back other than maybe barbie unless its a 1 year with what Army is trying to build.

We have Quinn Hughes at home! His name is Scott Perunovich! Lol jk. While Hughes is likely a huge improvment on Krug defensively, im not sure its exactly what we need, especially at the cost. And Scotty could seriously replace Krug on the PP and more. We need a bigger do it all defender to replace Krug imo.

Dont think its worth signing an expensivish free agent like compher rn. Think we either hope someone in house can adequately fill the role for now or get someone on cheaper 1 year deal. We absolutely have to move Krug this summer imo. Scandella is worth buying out or just riding out until tdl or even just letting him expire.

Blues retool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Again, Provorov is disliked in the Flyers locker room and he has not played well since 2020. We can spend a lot less and get a a better fit. There's Orlov, Graves, Soucy, Gavrikov going free this summer, and then Hanafin goes free next summer. Plus, with all these recent trades and other ongoing situations, there could be a lot of promising young LDs available for trade around the league. Provy is not a wise option, especially before exploring all the other options.</div></div>
Idk much about their locker room, im not in it. And the other options im just not as big of a fan of theyre older (Provorov just turned 26 last month) will likely require more than 2 years to sign here (we've done this twice already, Dougs fault i know you wouldnt make those deals but could see this hurting us again) or imo just arent as good or as good of a fit as i think Provy would be. I think he's been in a bad situation and would excel here. 2020 wasnt like 5 years or a decade ago lol. His game could even still get better than it was... hes 26. He hits, skates well, is always healthy, has a good shot, moves the puck well and can skate it out. Maybe theres another trade option, obviously you look into all options. I like Hanifin, maybe we could wait on him but your crossing your fingers on that being a possibility where as we could get a guy this summer and get things moving in the right direction

He just seems like a fit to me and hes apparently available. 2 years is part of the plus of getting him o think, you have 2 years to make sure he can do the job and if he doesnt is an easy enough flip or if he does you could sign him to a reasonable deal. Fits the age group too and gives Buch another russian buddy lol. Who do you like in free agency? I feel like going that route could end up with another player that doesnt fit and is signed too long.

2 - All of these trades are rather bad for the Blues.
3 - It's easy to think the team looks better right after the real one traded away two lines worth of impact forwards and then you magically win the draft lottery.</div></div>
I know Dougs talked about him not magically maturing or Neighbours all the sudden becoming a top 6 stud. I do think theres a chance he makes the team or plays in the AHL though and is available to get looks. The Fantilli thing is just a dream scenario in this agm, ya gotta kind of roll with it lol if hes not there than its somebody else we already have or sign in free agency. I think the Vegas one should probably add a 2nd or something. The provorov value i dont think is terrible since the pick is late, but you get the idea of the trade anyways. Bottom six i think we can manage to fill with decent talent atleast until some of our prospects develop a bit more. I did leave us with some cap space to sign some 1 or 2 years

Not expecting it but ya never know. Think his game could translate to the nhl and possibly help sooner than later. I think this team could be good. Maybe the trades values are a little tilted but think this team is better. Minus the kids an extra season atleast we could make some decent 1 year depth signings A solid bottom 6 c for sure.

Considering contract terms/expected NHL arrivals, that's a lot of solid wing strength. It would obviously be ill-advised to spend so much capital on a winger right now when two other positions need major help. Something major has to be done with the LDs or we are not going anywhere. And we don;t just need a top 6 C, we need a top 6C and a checking 3/4C (which could be solved nicely by bringing back Acciari).</div></div>
Agreed. Id even look into moving Saad if theres interest. Maybe in that scenario you add a younger, better winger (Saad isnt exactly a strong play driver or play makers for a top 6 role imo) but probably better off getting a 2c and moving Schen to wing or 3rd line center. We have alot of wing depth. Fix the D, get a 2c is my vote... but who?

But since you asked, I think everything here fits into one of three categories: you're crazy overpaying, the other team scoffs or hellllllllnaw. Some of them fit into multiple categories. That said, the team you ended up with would be scary as hell in about two years... with some veteran leadership, which isn't in the team you ended up with.</div></div>

Which r the overpays? Id seriously like more info and details just so i can adjust and keep in mind for future agm's
