(NYR/CAR) - Skjei for a 2020 1st round pick
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tormundgiantsbane</b></div><div>Skjei is a... serviceable... defenseman. But when you watch him he's incredibly frustrating. He's been out no. 1 LD the past two seasons and having come in with the hype of "McDonagh 2.0" it has been frustrating to see him barely crack the surface of what McDonagh was at his age. Also, I'm pretty sure I remember Skjei being a healthy scratch fairly recently because he was struggling so hard (either way this season or sometime last season). Beyond that, we have unreal D prospects (K'Andre Miller, Nils Lundkvist) and young D (Adam Fox, Anthony DeAngelo, Ryan Lindgren), in addition to Trouba, so we really needed to trade someone eventually anyway. IMO, Skjei was the weakest link of them all. And an expensive one at that.</div></div>
Really surprised his value dropped that much. I would have been ready to outbid this by a mile, from a habs point of view, but I guess you watched him play more than I do.

Laval Rocket Playoff Lineup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kotkaniemi15</b></div><div>Mete is waiver eligible. Suzuki cannot play for Laval, since he's an NHLer and he wasn't on Laval's roster at the deadline.
And I doubt Romanov plays for Laval this year, even if they last longer than CSKA, which is very unlikely. Caufield I'm not sure will sign this year.
And while I think (and Bouchard thinks) that McNiven is better than Kinkaid, Kinkaid will probably get more starts.</div></div>
I would expect Caufield to play in Laval next year so why not sign him this year. I doubt he returns to Wisconsin the way things are going.

Next year 2020-2021
I like the Laval roster. We really need to let the kids develop in the AHL, although one would hope KK shows enough confidence not to spend too much time there. As for the big club, I think there will be a big hockey deal comes draft day. Bergy has shown to make his big moves during the summer and with the draft in Montreal, I'm sure he'll want to steal the show.

(OTT/NYI) - Pageau for 2020 1st, 2020 2nd, conditional 2022 3rd
I don't get why people think this is an absolute steal for OTT. This is basically picks #23 and #54 (approximately) for one of the best #3C, that NYI really needed, in a seller's market. I think people have a hard time evaluating the value of late first (20+). There really isn't a big value difference between the prospects you can get in the 20-45 range. I'm sure if this trade was for 2 2nd (let's say #34 and #40, essentially the same value), people would call it a fair trade, like it is. Don't get me wrong, this is a good return for OTT, but if I was a NYI fan, I wouldn't mind this trade at all.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blazingbat11</b></div><div>Well for one, only throwing away Danault and Tatar for picks probably still has MTL being a bubble team. Habs can still internally replace those guys. So you'd have to ship out at least over half of the Habs core to realistically start tanking.
Not to mention the draft lottery is a crap shoot. When the highest possible odds at winning the lottery is 20%, Not great odds. Last year COL (*cough* OTT's pick *cough*) had the best odds and they end up picking 4th overall.
Could you imagine giving up on an entire season, letting go of half your core players, all for an 80% failure rate... and end up picking 4th overall...</div></div>
Give me Cale Makar for throwing the season... I do it in a heartbeat. 4th overall isn't exactly a bad spot to pick.

Is Domi avaliblie QUESTION MARK
No, I think Domi is untouchable at this point. Marc Bergevin is looking to build a team around character guys like him and Gallagher. And Montreal wants to make the playoffs this year so the return would have to help us now... Therefore, your protected list just doesn't make any sense.... We would also like to get one of your top players without giving any of our 10 best players. This is like saying we're interested in Ekhlom but we won't include Price, Weber, Petry, Kotkaniemi, Domi, Drouin, Gallagher, Tatar, Danault and Byron.

Suzuki to Laval Question mark
I agree with you. Our second line should be Drouin Domi Byron, like it was at the end last night. I would try Suzuki on the third line with KK and Lehkonen for at least the next 2-3 games and if it doesn't work out, then I would send him down. I don't think sending him down now would send a good message. We don't want him to be constantly scared of making mistakes at the NHL level.

I think everyone is just scared of his career trajectory, and that affects his value. It amazes me that a guy that's been putting good numbers everywhere he's been only has 155 games played at the age of 27. That's why I wouldn't do it 1 for 1, but he would definitely be a good fit with Weber.

Mtl trade

I see. I was a huge proponent of a Leddy vs Tatar trade before the Chiarot signing, which I don't really like to be honest. Now this signing makes it difficult to find a partner to Shea Weber. I like Kulak too much to leave him sit in the press box, but I doubt a team would be willing to give fair value for him, as he is too unproven yet. Anyway, this deal makes too much sense to be passed on, for Montreal.

Great value. It's true that it would be a couple months late but I would still make the trade and try to move someone like Kulak in another trade. What makes islanders fan want to move Leddy all of a sudden? Bad camp, prospects coming up?

Top 25 U25
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy739</b></div><div>Poehlings top 3 ahead of Suzuki for sure.
Poehlings rare
challenged on his skating year 1 , adjusts and fixes it
challenged on his Power and Strength year 2 , puts on 40lbs of muscle over the next year
challenged on his Stamina and Scoring in year 3 , he gets surgery after his tonsils come out because they found a flap of skin partially blocking his nasal canal .
Challenged this year on whether or not he'll be ready for a full 82 game season
he chooses not to take the summer off again this year to work on his preparations with Coach Olson in Minnisotta while playing in the DBL summer league with Pro NHL players .
the guys got a drive to him we rarely see
he's a pure Athlete with a chip on his shoulder and the drive to be the best his state produced .
Poehling's years ahead of Suzuki and even Kotkanemi for that matter who couldnt finish the year due to lack of conditioning and chose to take the summer off .
KK is a stud dont get me wrong , but Poehlings work ethic is Superior much like Rod the Bod Brind'Amour his conditioning is unmatched .
KK plays a Barkov style by his own words Draft Day and that takes time , Even Barkov took 4 years before hitting his stride as a complete all around All Star.
Poehling is on years 4 of preparing for the NHL on North American Ice so he's got a clear leg up on KK
Poehling might not win rookie of the year but he will be top 5 with his former teammate Jack Hughes IMO living in Hughes shadow the past few years and Clayton Keller's before that i suspect you see Poehling dominate the rookie race .</div></div>
I agree with everything you said about Poehling and I love him as much as you do but my ranking is about asset value and upside. I personally think Suzuki has a higher ceiling than Poehling even though Poehling is pretty much a sure thing at this point. KK is by far #1 in terms of asset value.
As for Brook, I doubt he'll be able to play LD in the NHL, as most D playing on their off side in junior end up switching back in the pros, but I would be more than happy if he can play LD. He would fill a huge need, sooner than our other LD prospects. I admit Fleury might be a bit low.
Hudon is done with the Canadiens. I don't see him playing one more game on this team and would definitely take a prospect like Hillis for him if the offer was presented. Wouldn't think about it one second. We have to stop thinking guys will keep getting better when they are 25 and still can't crack the line up. Other than that, I agree with all your other statements.

New D pairing
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Poehling</b></div><div>Kulak is better than Mete for the moment and Mete-Juulsen were a good pairing in the preseason last year. Mete needs a break, we need to give him time, he’s only 21yo. Kulak can play 20+ minutes on Weber side IMO</div></div>
I totally agree. As of now Kulak is the better player and I think Mete would benefit a lot. If someone has to be in a bad chair, I'd rather it be Kulak et let Mete be where he should be in the lineup. We already put way too much pressure on a 21 year-old 4th round pick. Playing against 3rd/4th lines with Juulsen, he would be in a better position to improve his offensive game. And Kulak has shown he's ready to take more responsibilities.
