What about Provy then
Go for a trade with the potential of an offer sheet working in our favour. Now that other GMs know Bergevin has the guts to send an offer sheet, they will be more incline to a trade.

Mine was more about value. Romanov ceiling is definitely higher but Poehling has a much better chance to reach his potential than Romanov in my opinion. In any case, can't wait to see this next generation in a few years.

3. Ryan Poehling
4. Alexander Romanov

8. Jayden Struble
9. Joni Ikonen
10. Cale Fleury
Having Cale Fleury as number 10 is just incredible.

Jake Bean for 15th Overall

Yeah, fair enough. I just thought it would be a better use of the assets for both teams. Montreal could clearly give Bean the ice time a top prospect deserves, and Carolina needs to add depth up front.

I get it, Montreal needs a LHD but Jake McCabe isn't exactly the kind of guy we're looking for.

Definitely better. We would be trading from a position of strength to a weakness. The value is clearly there but this is tough trade to make.

Well thought. You thought about each team's needs. I hear good things about Kylington and he would surely fit well in Montreal. Frolik would also fill a hole on a weak right wing. Good trade

Montreal passes. Byron is an important part of our team. He brings a lot a leadership and most importantly speed. I'm not saying the value is off but trading Byron for another similar guy would not make our team any better, so why trade him?

Martinez for Alzner and 15th Overall
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wqrrior</b></div><div>They get a top 4 defenseman on the side that they desire. And when the contract situation matters in two years, they don't need to worry about him there. Montreal is looking for a young LD. Martinez won't bring us anywhere closer to the cup... And Alzner's negative value will be much less in 2 years, with only a year left and a higher salary cap.

Yeah sure... and Ottawa should give CLB's 1st to get rid of Ryan because why not... Montreal has plenty of cap space, giving our first to get rid of Alzner is a stupid idea...

I'm also a habs fan and I disagree. We get the better player.... by miles.... Stop overestimating our players... I like Mete and Primeau but Mete will never be close to Theodore and Primeau is a very good prospect but still a maybe.

I would love to get Werenski but this is laughable. If I'm Colombus and for a weird reason I want to trade Werenski, I ask for Kotkaniemi. You don't get quality for quantity. Just think about this. Would you trade Kotkaniemi for Boone Jenner, Scott Harrington, Riley Nash, a 2nd and a 4th? I hope you don't...

Pretty fair trade for Danault. I like it very much. It would give Weber a partner and let Poehling and/or Suzuki play center. Good job on that trade.

I don't think Reimer has that much of a negative value. And I'm not that high on Brodie. I'd rather go for Maatta, which is cheaper, younger and signed for two more years.

I don't think Shaw is the one we should be moving. He is undervalued, found great chemistry with Domi last season and I love the grit they bring together + Montreal values him more than any other team (at least from fans perspective). In terms of asset management, I think Tatar would be the right move due to his very good value and contract, but that's a really tough trade to make. That would be a heartbreaker. In any case, we'll have to move one or maybe even two good forwards that fans like to make room for prospects coming up.

I'm not saying Ratcliffe won't be a fine NHLer if his skating keeps developing, but he's not at Romanov's level and Ds are always more valuable that Ws.</div></div>
Yeah, maybe. I probably don't know enough about Ratcliffe but he looked great with Suzuki in CHL playoffs. Even if you're right and Romanov has significantly more value, I don't think this is enough. We would need a PHI fan opinion on this one.

Montreal is not a player away to contend anyway (no matter how good you think Getzlaf still is). So we would basically look at this 3 years from now and wish we still had those 2 picks.

Don't worry, Montreal says no anyway. Why would we give a 1st and 2nd for what is now an old and overpaid center, when we have Domi, Kotkaniemi, Danault as top 3C

As a habs fan, I take the Ghost deal and run, but I don't think PHI entertains this. Ratcliffe and Romanov are two good prospects with similar values in my opinion. So you basically trade Shaw for Ghost and they add a second.... I think Montreal would have to add (a lot), not the opposite.
