2020-21 Pietrangelo 85 million Cap
1st line of Kyrou-Thomas-Tarasenko? Yes please! With 1 more year of growth/development for Kyrou and Thomas, that could be so frightening. That would be must-see tv.
I completely agree on Steen. Best chance of Steen retiring would be to win the Cup and he leaves on top. Even then, it’s hard to pass up what $5 million? Would be incredibly selfless if he does. We all know what a great person he is, but that would just cement his legacy. Subtracting Steen and Bouwmeester is losing some quality leadership and class. Average age would drop considerably as well. Lol!

Repeat
As badly as I want Kreider, 2 things solidify that from happening. 1. We just traded our 2nd rounder. We ain’t trading our 1st too. That’s just irresponsible. 2. Doug Armstrong’s comments yesterday strongly suggests that Tarasenko will come back before the playoffs so we won’t have the cap room.
He said he did have conversations with teams for potential “hockey trades.” He didn’t say that they were for sure done, but if anything is done, it would be a hockey trade.

If Eichel Requested Trade
Thomas is 20 years old to Eichel’s 23. Eichel was not Eichel today at 20 if I’m not mistaken. Thomas in 3 years will be in the same league as Eichel, imo. If not, pretty darn close. Thomas’ 2 more years of ELC sure is nice too as opposed to a 10M AAV when that would obviously mean Pietrangelo is no longer a Blue. Obviously Eichel is an MVP type player and the original trade is pretty fair but considering Thomas’ potential is what makes it difficult is all I’m saying on top of the likelihood of losing Captain Pietrangelo. Even with all that, even I admit it would nice consolation. :)

If Eichel Requested Trade
Make it a 2nd and it would be tempting honestly. Losing Thomas would hurt. He’s gonna be a superstar, possibly in the same stratosphere as even Eichel. I think if we could substitute Thomas with Blais then keep the pick a 1st would be less painful. I think the value may not be as much as Thomas and a 2nd, but it would be close along with the rest of your package there.
So Dunn, Blais, Kostin and a 1st would be more palatable , especially since Eichel would be requesting the trade in this hypothetical.

When was the last time the Blues and Hawks made a trade? As a Blues fan, I can’t imagine us being trading partners. But I guess anything is possible. Is it blasphemous to imagine Kane in a Blues sweater? :)

I think you’re spot on with Pietro, and depending on how Dunner plays, I think he could fetch at least $4-4.5mil.

Trade with Rangers from Rangers Fan
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vosse9</b></div><div>They should dominate at a prospect camp that’s for sure, but I do really like both of them as prospects. I can understand your willingness to want to keep them being a Blues fan. Great run last year but you think they can repeat without a move?</div></div>
I completely agree with your assessment. I think Fabbri is a good starting point then if it takes one of Bokk/Kostin plus a pick, as much as I want to see what Kostin can do for us, I think Bokk has more upside. Plus it would seem since Kostin is closer to the NHL he would fit in the short term plans better for you guys. If we want to repeat, I definitely think we have to make a move and for you to see that is a true testament to your knowledge. Kreider would be the perfect guy to add with his experience over a guy like Gusev. It looks like we’d need to trade Edmundson first though cuz we wouldn’t be able to fit Kreider on top of Eddy and Barbashev. From the Blues perspective, GMDA has said he’d like 1.5-2 mil in cap space entering the season so if that’s the case, it would seem the writing is on the wall for Eddy to get moved. If that happens and Kreider is still with the Rangers, It would seem more plausible of a reality. It would be yet another brilliant offseason by Doug Armstrong and maybe after we win back to back Cups then he’ll get the award for best GM that belonged to him this year.

You have Vegas taking on more money than getting rid of. Isn’t that the complete opposite of what they’re trying to do?

Don’t you think that’s way, way too much for Gusev? Vegas would run away before they were caught for theft. Lol I think Fabbri is enough. Even he might be too much for an unproven NHLer

The reports are that’s exactly what teams are offering for him. That or either a 2nd and a lower level prospect according to the reports. So they may be able to but that’s what the market is at right now apparently.

I hope that’s what it takes, but they both showed their value in the playoffs. They were the best line many nights. And crazy coincidence but we lost both games when Sunny and Barbie were suspended against Boston. Imo I just think they’re worh $2 and $2.5 respectively. If they sign for what you say, they’re home run deals for the team that gives us more flexibility.

As a Blues fan, I honestly think it’s a good deal and I think Zach made that money in the Cup final. With that said, if he’s getting $1.5 mil, what’s Oskar Sundqvist and Ivan Barbashev gonna get? At least $2.5 mil right? Maybe $3? Those 2 will be interesting to see let alone Binnington and Edmundson. Most Blues fans think Eddy’s gotta go.

I like the trade, but the buyout period is over so no buyouts will happen, which makes the trade impossible with the cap space.
