Normally would agree but three firsts from a team who won't contend in that window and getting out from Strome's deal? It's not nearly as bad as most Zegras offers around here.

THE REAL OFF BOARD AVS DEADLINE DEAL
To all the people about to comment "why not claim him on waivers", its because the avs have to make a trade to make the cap work. Also I know this trade isnt realistic but it would kinda make sense. gives 2 vets with no trade value and under contract next year a fresh start and i think there is a decent chance kuznetsov plays better on a good avs team. I am not sure if i got the pick right tho idk hwo much the caps would want for that retention

lol the suspensions only happened cuz the pics ended up on social media. As for the effort issues I think those are overblown by the media. Just an excuse for them to blame kuzy for the fact that the caps have been a declining team. I doubt he stays in the ahl for more than a week or two unless he plays like **** for the bears. Wouldn't suprise me if all he needs is a change of scenery

Both teams probably hate this trade lol. Mainly the retention kills us. But value wise, it's pretty close despite what homer leafs fans will say. Caps probably add like a second.

I mean...realistically...Wilson is pretty much exactly what we would want Knies to develop in to...so value wise it isn't terrible, particularly with the rentention...but as the comment above notes...Leafs need to hope they can ride Knies and his entry level deal to some quality top 6 minutes

TOR finally gets a young prospect on their ELC to play on the top line, and then trade him? Does not make sense. I feel like TOR management doesn't fully know Knies' full potential yet, but they got a taste and I don't think they will be interested in trading him away anytime soon.

would Washington sell Wilson given where the team is at
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BIGRUSS62</b></div><div>I mean granted he is injured right now, but Wilson really is so much more then points. He wins every battle, he creates a lot of space, he is a leader and BELOVED in the locker room, its hard to overstate how much he impacts games,. and yeah he can still produce on a top 6 level. I would only trade him for a huge haul otherwise I'd rather the caps keep him if just to be there as an example for the next generation of caps players.</div></div>
agreed. And maybe you do keep him through the next gen. But at the same time he'll get a big contract and generally speaking his style of game doesn't always age so well. Very well might get a better haul than this, but on a more general level I think WSH should stay decent for Ovie but also need to start thinking about the future. No offense, but the cup window is a couple of years gone at this point.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Randominoe</b></div><div>Canucks fan here with my two cents, Hagelin cap dump = 3rd rounder, Kempny cap dump = 4th rounder, Miller is worth the equivalent of 3 first-round picks without retention and 4 first-round picks with retention, in my opinion. We want Iorio because Coquitlam boy and right-handed defenceman need, otherwise let's do draft picks.
Canucks Receive:
Vincent Iorio
Carl Hagelin
Michael Kempny
2022 1st Round Pick
2022 2nd Round Pick (WPG)
2022 3rd Round Pick
2022 4th Round Pick
2023 1st Round Pick
Capitals Receive:
JT Miller
This likely never happens because it is a crazy price but we're talking about a bonafide top-line player who is strong at both ends of the ice as well as both special teams, while being a strong locker room character. So he better net an insane price if he goes at this deadline.</div></div>
This is just so bad. I’d bet they’d get JT Miller for 1st, 2nd, Vincent Iorio and Michael Kempny

Sprong is awesome but wouldn't fit with Ovi and Kuzy on line 1. Wilson is a perfect fit there, but I hope that Sprong gets more ice time, and I think we will see that once Backstrom returns.

I wouldn’t call Dillon a problem except for the fact that we couldn’t afford his cap hit. His contract is more than fair, given some of the terrible contracts given out today. But we we’re cap strapped. Agree however that Chevy overpaid.

You realize everyone in the NHL is an adult right? It’s not like we’re putting Kuznetsov in a locker room full of 16 year olds and he’s bringing baggies of coke to hand out to all the kids. This bad influence narrative is so stupid. Every NHLer can make their own decisions. And this is the same argument I use against caps fans who claim Kuznetsov is a bad influence on samsonov. Dude is 24 years old, he knows how to make his own decisions.

Like Crosby being a crybaby? He’s absolutely soft? Throw tantrums to get coaches fired? How about Malkin being lazy? Taking seasons off not giving 100%? Lol Kuzy got COVID 2x and was late to 1 meeting in his career in Washington? 7 nhl teams had massive covid outbreaks. Tampa had a party to watch the super bowl in a hotel conference room lol. so they have attitude issues? People love to make a minor issue or comment into these monster size issues. Like Kuzy attitude issue. Sheep believe anything

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheNiskyCap</b></div><div>But the thing that Washington needs more than anything else is cap space, Orlov is solid enough but not 5.1 million solid. St Louis and Washington are both taking risks on struggling players that need a bounce back with Tarasenko and Kuznetsov, Orlov is traded for cap reasons and then the caps acquire the rights to Dunn and sign him on a buy low contract</div></div>
I say this not to be condescending, but I’m legitimately asking if you watched much this season. Orlov is worth MORE than 5.1 million if you ask me. Dude is incredibly solid defensively, physically, and can provide offensive flair in clutch situations. Orlov needs to stay here long term.
Tarasenko is a much bigger unknown than Kuznetsov and we don’t have a way to replace the hole at 2C if we make that swap. This is just not a good trade for the caps.
