Assuming we traded Dumba and Fiala for futures I'd rather just save the cap and target one of Miller, Horvat, ROR, Barbashev, or Larkin in free agency that next offseason (though I bet those last two sign extensions this offseason).</div></div>
If you're trading both I think you've gotta get the 1C right now though. Maybe it's a deal for Miller with extension or something. Kadri is an option this year as well.

Thinking of it as you guys would have 1 more season of Miller with the uncertainty of if he'll re-sign. Fiala and Greenway could be locked up for longer terms immediately since they'll be RFAs. I get that it's a downgrade but there's other factors in play here. I'd also upgrade the pick to a 2nd probably.

Cup Hangover
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TanSor</b></div><div>I said this in another thread yesterday, but I would be surprised if the Canucks move Miller after hiring Boudreau. Bruce is a guy you get if you want your team to make the playoffs and moving Miller for Fiala is a downgrade even though Fiala is really good. Maybe Greenway moves the needle for them with the way he has been playing lately, but the Canucks do have a huge logjam on the wing and little cap space to extend both of these guys next year. If the Canucks are trying to turn their season around (which it seems like they are), I don't think they take this deal.</div></div>
Looking at it as more of an off-season thing, he'd have 1 year left and they'd be able to negotiate Fiala and Greenway into longer term deals. I'd be interested in Boeser instead but only if Hartman continues to look like the real deal as a top 2 center.

The Parise buyout would require a lot of that cap space the next season, and I believe you can't have him stick around and be unhappy in that locker room without causing a divide.

But he is a #1 center. You have to give to get. I'd rather trade Fiala and a 1st to get Hertl than sell the farm for an Eichel.

Take out Adam Beckman or Alexander khovanov. You aren't getting both for yanni gourde</div></div>
He'd be the second best centre we have for now, and could easily play on any of the top 3 lines, depending on where Rossi ends up or if they want Ek in the top 6. You're right though I would take out Beckman and do just Khovanov and a 2nd.

I think Gourde is extremely underrated, and the contract really isn't that bad honestly. I think taking Beckman out is enough, the 2nd would probably have to stay to get it done.

Can't see them moving Boldy AND Fiala, that's two of the top six wings. Unless it's some massive deal with Olofsson also involved. Rossi would be more likely but apparently Sabres might not be interested in him? The eventual Eichel trade that goes down should be interesting, I don't think Buffalo gets as much as some people think, but we'll see.

MN shouldn't even think about trying this either. Parise might just get mad enough to outright retire and stick MN with the recapture.</div></div>
He’d have to allow it to happen. Also Russo mentioned the other day that any team that takes him will also deal with a recapture penalty if he retires. Though not as big of one, I’d still think no team would allow him to retire if they’ll also take a hit.

No problem with him sitting in the press box for 4 years either and having Seattle just take Dumba. The $1.5 million difference isn’t much and the cap will start to go up again once Boldy/Addison/Rossi need raises.

The motivation is the 1st round pick, and I’d probably also give up Khovanov and another prospect, and a 2nd if need be. Or they could just take Dumba alone. Either way helps the Wild.

Yes, no bridges. There still shouldn't be cap issues the following year, especially if Greenway slows down. Those 3 ELCs, plus a 4th if Beckman arrives eventually, really help the Wild during Parise and Zucc's contracts.

Let Us Dream
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jnowariak</b></div><div>I see everything you’re saying but I counter that if Barkov truly is on the block, very few pieces get to be off the table. I know we’d want to keep Boldy and Rossi but it would be very reasonable for FLA to insist on that. As for Fiala, I’m wondering if he gets a deal that walks him to UFA with the intention of trading him that last year. The Wild have a serious cap problem the next couple years and I would gladly give up Fiala in a package for Barkov.</div></div>
I think the cap problem is overblown. Soucy, Greenway, Hartman or Foligno are likely gone in expansion. If Dumba is moved to protect the forwards (for futures even), and Soucy is the guy that Seattle likely takes (unless they want Talbot?), you're freeing up $9 million there. They could keep Rask for the final year instead of a buyout if they don't go after Barkov or Eichel, and they have Rossi, Boldy and Addison on ELC for the entirety of Zuccarello's contract. Fiala, Ek and Kaprizov are easily affordable now, and Greenway and Kahkonen wouldn't be so tough to get under the cap the following season either. Parise is also a wildcard. Honestly I think the Wild just go hard after RNH in the summer.
