One Goalie away from playoffs

Buffalo has the other pieces so it would be worth the chance</div></div>
Sabres defense isn’t good either. He wouldn’t get much support.

Gibson hasn’t been good since 2019. There’s no good goalies available.

Current Lines from Training Camp
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CuyahogaKid</b></div><div>Few observations if these line stick.
Scoring is obviously spread out, and all three lines have a strong play driver or two on it. If Benson does make it, it gives you a ton of flexibility with the Lines and with Tuch to move him.
The defense pairs have a lot more depth and each of the top three pairs have a strong defenseman with Dahlin, Power, and Samuelsson. My guess is that there won’t necessarily be a true bottom pair per se, but all 6 guys will see a fair amount of ice time.
I think they want to reduce the minutes of Samuelsson and keep Johnson’s minutes managed to keep them healthy and available. So maybe Sammy goes from playing 22 to 18-19 and will probably be out there with the veteran Erik Johnson in situations that need a shutdown D. So it’s not like they will be reduced to 15 minutes in a third pair role.
Victor Olafsson is the obvious sub in for Quinn, and I think he is traded as soon as he returns, I still think he will be a damper on that line, and I’m not thrilled about Jokiharju remaining with Power
Krebs also continues his incredible mentorship program from Girgensons and Okposo, but I hope he can eventually rise up a line and get a shot to play with more skilled linemates. But that will require Mitts or Cozens to move to wing as Krebs cannot play wing effectively.
I also have a hard time finding room in the lineup for Patrick Kane, unless either Greenway tanks, which I don’t think he will or if they plan on moving Quinn for a defenseman.</div></div>
Kane will replace Benson, unless he shows well enough to stay for the entire season.

Yeah I don’t like Power and Jokiharju together again, but they are going to be a pair.

Every defenseman is playing on their natural side Johnson is playing with Samuelsson on the 3rd pair.

He’s likely on opening night to be the 13th forward. Coaches don’t trust him and Benson has outplayed him.

Dahlin had 44 points as an 18 year old and 40 In 54 as a 19 year old. His 3rd season was bad, but everyone outside of Reinhart was terrible on the 2020-2021 Sabres.

Barkov is probably the best 2-way center in the league now that Bergeron's retired He should be way up on the list next to Matthews</div></div>
Pettersson is by far the best 2-way center in the NHL.

Kane is not better than any of those 3 it’s not really close either. Signing Kane is like the Bills signing an old former star running back.

I think it’s probably happening, but it’s going to be more of a 3rd line first power play type of player. He isn’t better than any of Skinner, Tuch or Mittelstadt.

Until Quinn is Back
I don’t think Ryan Johnson has much of a chance to make the team, mostly because Granato said in his press conference after free agency that he wants every defenseman on their natural side so that wouldn’t leave a spot open for Ryan. I also think they will keep 3 goalies again.

This team just doesnt survive the Atlantic sorry
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WN88</b></div><div>Based on individual players, you could certainly make a case that Ottawa is pretty close to having as good of a defence. I don't think they have anyone as prolific at 5v5 as McAvoy, but their top-4 is ELITE. Having said that, I doubt Ottawa is an elite defensive team this season. Defence is a team effort, and Boston lost the greatest defensive forward in NHL history, along with another very reliable defensive forward in Krejci. So, sure they might still have the best blue line, but whether they are still the best defensive team is up for debate.</div></div>
Ottawa will never live up to expectations as long as their current coach and GM are still in Ottawa. Chychrun is average and always injured Chabot bad defensively Sanderson is elite.
