Time to Go - Kevy
Domi probably stays in Toronto and Stamkos isn't signing in Buffalo.
The Sabres need some mean dmen and some mid/bottom sixers who are tough to play against, far too soft of a lineup.

Only $1.6M under the cap with the retention, not $5.2M, right?
Due to the way you did the deal.
They would be right at the cap limit for the 25-26 season, but would have flexibility after that 👍

Exploring A Skinner Buyout
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BUFF36</b></div><div>He could be, but we don't know that because they really haven't done anything with these prospects to see that. I am all for getting rid of him, but his Cap really isn't affecting this year from signing a good player or 2. There's other players that should hopefully be gone that where taking spots more than Skinner.</div></div>
I agree. I think next summer he's more of a buyout candidate to make space for Quinn/Peterka/Byram to get extensions.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BUFF36</b></div><div>Yes, I see that. But why take 3 extra years of Cap hit when you might not have to.</div></div>
Gets you better players now. I'm dealing with 3 years from now 3 years from now. Skinner is also blocking prospects who cost less than 1M who might be just as good if not better than him already.

Exploring A Skinner Buyout
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BUFF36</b></div><div>Skinner only saves you money for what 2yrs and then gets negative for a bunch. Just get past this year, his actual money owed drops to 7mill and then 5mill. Think Pegula would do 50% then when he's actually paying less than his Cap hit even at 50%. Hope he keeps scoring goals, think there will be Teams that would take him for 3.5mill and then 2.5mill the last 2 years.</div></div>
It saves money all 3 years and then the negative money is 2.5M for the 3 years after that. You can see the payout structure if you look at the Long Term Outlook

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BUFF36</b></div><div>Rather just give Montreal the 3rd myself for Kovacevic, and stay away from Manson</div></div>
I think Manson would be a nice fit there. I have seen other Sabres fans trade for him and like how the lineup looks with him added in.
Personally I think Manson's experience would be more beneficial to the Sabres than another young (or at least less experienced) player in Kovacevic.

I think I'd go get a 3c. I know some people want Krebs to get a longer look, I defended him for quite awhile, but I think we need production from our 3rd line, even if it's d zone starts and less offensive stuff. Adams did not sound like- kids learning on the job- was an idea he was open to.

Nah, he's a part of the core going forward. The Sabres moved mittelstadt for bo Byram, they made their choice.

its not just take my offer or you go to cap jail. youd have to outbid teams.</div></div>
Sure, other teams are going to be interested in him too. But they are also hopefully not stupid. They should know Vegas has no options to relieve their salary problems without taking the bad end of a trade, Or taking costly buyouts. Not to mention, most of the league is in salary cap trouble, so very few teams actually are fair suitors to take on money like that.

Bigger Wings
The Sabres are so physically and mentally soft that virtually any move needs to address these problems, unless the talent is just way too good to pass up. The Sabres few players that provide these traits- tuch, cozens, Greenway, and dahlin- I would have them just off the table completely.

There are maybe 5% of the players in the league that are untouchable but in this case I'll agree with <a href="/users/AntiAnalytics" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@AntiAnalytics</a>, UPL is untouchable until Levi proves he is ready to be our #1 goalie or a top veteran goalie is coming back in return for UPL. Right now I don't think UPL is going anywhere but we'll see this off season what the contract looks like in terms of term and money...that may be a telling sign what Adams is thinking long term

That's a good start. For their role on the team, Greenway would be a better fit than rosen (4th line checking and pk).

Stamkos
put yourself in Stamkos' shoes here. he's in a warm weather city with no state tax and a culture of winning, and winning a lot.
what would it take to trade that for cold, high tax, losing buffalo? I think a legitimate offer would be 3x12.5

Yeah swapping the picks in the trade is pretty easy but I understand his contract is a little heavy for the Sabers. Another destination seems to make more sense from what I've read
