Last year doesn't result in this years value. If that's the case, Wayne Simmonds put up 60 points 10 years ago, I think Leafs will get a 2nd round pick for him

Buying low means 3rd round picks or 4th round picks offered

Getting Bertuzzi for cheap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CoachCoach</b></div><div>Perfect, they’re happy to look elsewhere, Detroit is happy getting a decent return or trying to bring him back. I have stated I don’t believe he gets a first, and also have made ACGMs in which he got less than stellar returns.
To say he is a cap dump is funny. Saying Detroit should be grateful for “your” thoughts is even more so.</div></div>
Well it may be looking like you will have to either re-sign him, trade him for cheap to negative value, or just let him walk. 5 points in 18 games played doesn't command you value or else Leafs could be getting multiple firsts back for Alex Kerfoot. I don't even see the Leafs getting a 4th back for Kerfoot (who has better production than Bertuzzi and is way cheaper)

Also hilarious, every trade deadline Leafs fans like you come out in waves, making trades for Bertuzzi. So clearly your fanbase wants him, you just want him for a nobody and a 3rd round pick, which isn't gonna happen.</div></div>
I don't want him, I doubt the Leafs will want him. He's probably going to end up leaving regardless, get what you can

Sure, Leafs will be more than happy to look elsewhere. Bertuzzi doesn't net you quality that you may think he does. I'm overpaying for a cap dump, Detroit should be grateful

Just don't be upset the most you could get for Bertuzzi is a 3rd. Kerfoot has more value than that injury prone forward :grimace

Getting Bertuzzi for cheap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>Then do that. The point is that there will be a certain amount of interest in Bert as the market starts drying up. Especially since he can probably be acquired for well below what he was worth a year ago due to his 2 injuries this year. However I would be very surprised if he can't return at least a 2nd</div></div>
You just made a point why teams will be reluctant to trade fro him. If he is injury prone and teams know that he is one injury away from missing the rest of the season, why would there be a market for him. Why would teams want him?

Getting Bertuzzi for cheap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>So why doesn't that effect your team?</div></div>
We would just look elsewhere if the cost is high. Friedman reported that the Leafs don't even want to do a 2nd + B level prospect for Jake McCabe (who has term). We are super cautious of who we are trading and the assets that we are giving up

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>And why wouldn't many other teams think the same thing?</div></div>
Injury concerns and UFA, he doesn't have a big market that Red Wings fans think he does. If you honestly believe Bertuzzi could get you a 1st+ (or just a 1st), man I can't wait to get a ransom when we trade Kerfoot

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lancebmx</b></div><div>It has happened many times before with players requesting trades. No point in selling low on bertuzzi, especially to a division rival.</div></div>
Keep him then, Bertuzzi isn't even at the middle of the list of players that I want. If it's for a 3rd + C level prospect, I would still be hesitant but would consider. Anything more, Leafs will be happy to look elsewhere

A deal for Bert
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HockeyIsMyPassion61</b></div><div>Toronto's not the only team that has interest in him, Both Calgary and Dallas do. And i'm sure Yzerman can get more than a lousy 3rd that's still 3 drafts away.</div></div>
Red Wings will just have to let him walk then, no one is paying more than a 2nd for Bertuzzi (if the Red Wings are lucky to get a 2nd)

There will be at least a few teams willing to bid, which likely drives the price up closer to a 2nd, or a higher level prospect with the 3rd rounder.</div></div>
What is there to bid on a guy with injury history and has 5 points in 18 games played?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HockeyIsMyPassion61</b></div><div>:laugh :laugh That garbage doesn't even get Larkin at 50% let alone both Larkin and Bertuzzi at 50% to a divisional foe like Toronto. And no Larkin isn't waiving to Toronto to play LW You're at least a 1st and 2nd off you'd need to pay us to take Engval off your hands.
Knies and the 1st are the only decent pieces, Niemela is so overhyped it isn't funny. You're still at least 2 significant pieces off.</div></div>
You don't have to worry about it, Leafs don't even consider calling Detroit about those players
Bertuzzi is a cap dump at best, Larkin is a rental that's leaving Detroit hahaha
