I agree, I would expect more for that 5th round pick, especially since the Hawks will be solving Ottawa’s cap problem for them.

Playoffs here we come
This is pretty close to my thoughts as well. I think Ludwinski is going to be a legit NHLer, beyond that, I see him in a 4th line role. I don't see him overtaking Guttman, but I also see Guttman becoming trade bait. Also, Misiak might have been the best looking young player/prospect through prospect camp and training camp, before he was reassigned. I see him in a middle 6 role, likely 3rd line. If we get Eiserman, that would be amazing. Not sure I see CHI going after Nylander specifically, but I could definitely see them going after a young top 6 forward. I'm pretty high on the upside of guys like Mercer, Vilardi, Lafreniere, Dellandrea, and Jarvis, as possible targets over the next couple years.

Other than Soderblom in for Mrazak, I think they roll with the same lineup. Don't fix what ain't broke!

Blackhawks
This looks pretty much spot on. If the Hawks do carry 14 forwards, I think Katchouk gets the last spot over Reece. Just because Katchouk is a guy Kyle from Chicago traded for. I'd also like to see Phillips at 3RD instead of Zaitsev - who was just awful in pre-season. But I think what you have is how they go initially.

I really hope he gets a chance to play with Bedard. I dont have any analytics to back it up, just the eye test I think those two could have great chemistry.
Might be unpopular, I've also been impressed with Katchouk this preseason.</div></div>
Oh no I've been impressed with him for sure. I just wanted to toss Celebrini in here for fun. Realistically we won't have him and Guttman will be there on that 3rd line

Ideal Lines
I think RW on the Bedard line will be a revolving door the first half of the season. Raddysh, Johnson, AA, Kurashev all get looks along w/ Donato. Someone will grab it and make it theirs. The Reichel line was bad last night. Lots of speed for sure. But a ton of broken plays and turnovers too.

Year from now
Unlikely CHI would be interested, even for a 4th. There were some tires kicked on him last summer, but CHI has moved beyond the need for a player and contract like his. MTL would more than likely have to provide more incentive for CHI to take his contract.
Although, if guys like Nazar, and/or Moore don't graduate next year, there could be interest in a stop gap player that would eat up some cap space like Dvorak.

Lets Go
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BankersBox</b></div><div>I know this will be unpopular, but I don't think there is much left for Korchinski in the WHL.
I understand he can't go to the AHL, the only other option is the WHL where he will be a leader on his team, potentially play big minutes for Canada at the WJC.. but I do not believe the WHL will be the best place for him to continue to develop his defensive play.
He will have to earn his spot out of camp, with Kaiser, Vlasic, Philips nothing is guaranteed.
Being around Jones, Murphy and even some of the veteran forwards might be the best way to learn how to play NHL level defense, learn how to handle the demands of the NHL and take care of your body.</div></div>
Yeah. That is definitely a valid point. BUT!!! I think he can still learn some defense in the WHL. Seattle won't be nearly as much of a possession driven team this season. So, he will be able to get a lot more time in his own end. If he were going back to essentially the same roster, I would be more concerned with his defensive development. His offense could definitely take a hit on a less offensive team, and that makes me more worried about his confidence taking a hit and mucking up his development. Seattle's coach would have to be on the same page with getting him more defensive reps too. Otherwise the whole idea of sending him back to work on his defensive game is moot.
Regardless, there is always more to learn and it isn't going to hurt him or stunt his growth to go back. That entire notion is just leftover from the Bowman era of "rushing everyone to the NHL so they can help us win more cups with Kane and Toews." Two years in junior after being drafted is reasonable and normal. I think too many people look at his point totals and see a finished, or close to finished, product. Points are not everything and if you actually watched a lot of his play last year, he has a ton to learn. Which is great because he already very good and he isn't even done cooking. But, sure... he could learn some things at the NHL level if he stays... Or he could get in over his head, overwhelmed, destroy his confidence, stunt his development, and end up being none of the things CHI needs him to be. We'll see in camp, I guess.

No no no nooo Hron-ek
Why would Detroit trade their recent 1st round draft pick to Vancouver for Hronek, a player they just traded to Vancouver last season?
Why would Chicago then trade Moore, their recent 1st round pick; who if you saw the draft highlights; Kyle Davidson was desperately trying to trade up so he could take him even earlier than 19th overall?
Also, Detroit currently has eight d-men signed.
This proposal makes no sense on any level.

Yea I thought about that. It’s all hypothetical for now. I gave Kakko, Lindgren, and Schneider hefty pay raises just to see where things stand
If cuylle and Othmann are ready then they have their middle 6 right there

Hawks decline. I could see them maybe claiming Comrie off waivers at the end of training camp, but zero chance they pay even a 7th for him. Hawks would have no interest in Olafsson at all. Definitely not at the cost of a 2nd or a 3rd.

These thought experiments are fun, but you need to consider the impact on the standings and draft positions.

In one years time the Hawks will be closer to the playoff contention rather than draft lottery contention. I think that is a fair statment.

Hawks don't make either of those trades. They wouldn't give up either a 2nd or Raddysh for Brodie and Jarnkrok. And Hawks have plenty of their own LD prospects that need NHL ice time. They wouldn't be interested in the slow footed Stanley.
