(LAK / PIT) - Hagelin for Pearson
I see this deal as much worse for the Kings than many suggest here - Hagelin didn't have a good first stint in the pacific. the heavier , possession style game doesn't suit him. he's a North-South player, PKer and secondary scorer at best. his best time in New York was when they were playing true Run'n gun hockey. I've lost count how often his stone hands cost him goals. could've easily had 25-30.read: he's not the kind of guy you can plop on your top line alongside an elite center and expect him to produce. for what he's able to do he was always overpaid. now the pens found a way to move him for someone who CAN be relied upon for that exact purpose while the Kings just piss away an asset (sorry but it has to be said in a crass manner) without even a mid round pick back. poor move

(BOS / NYR) - Kampfer for McQuaid
the Rangers didn't need another bottom pairing/fringe NHLer before and they don't need one now. the only benefit could be keeping McLeod out of the lineup if the Rangers see McQuaid as their tough guy now.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeastModeUnknown</b></div><div>I don’t see why re-sign him for just a year. You can literally just flip him for picks if he does an extension.</div></div>
because this is not an EA game.if the Rangers don't see him as long term part of the future, he wants to hit UFA if you bait him into a long term deal just to keep his trade value up you lose the trust of players agents.

he's the only one capable of filling the 1C role in the organization, so unless NYR win big time on futures he's untouchable IMO

Priceless
I think Price is untradeable - a) he's worth way more to MTL than he would be to any taking team and b) MTL won't sell him for cheap, but no will high buy him if they have to empty their farm system AND give up hight tier roster players - the risk is just too high.

The Leafs CAN keep all of Matthews, Marne, Taveres and Nylander in 2019-20. My thoughts on how.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DoctorBreakfast</b></div><div>Pittsburgh proved that you don't need to have a stellar blue line in order to win, and they did it two years in a row. You just need good goal-scoring (which they have) and a hot goaltender; Andersen is good enough to where he can steal games for them.
Even Vegas and Washington didn't have exceptionally strong blue lines; no clear number one defenseman, but they played in a good system and worked well as a unit.
(btw, you're not fooling anyone, we all know it's you Paul)</div></div>
the #1 most important thing nowadays is a strong 1-2C axis imo. judging by that, Toronto probably built a contender.

just not good enough. DeAngelo is still a question mark with not a lot of tradevalue probably, Lettieri is an AHLer /fringe NHLer and Vesey is a 3rd liner at best.

(CHI / ARI) - Krüger, Entwistle, Maletta, Campbell for Hossa, Hinostroza, Oesterle
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Daryl</b></div><div>It's true that the key to building a contender is through the draft. Signing the big names often handcuffs your team sooner or later.
Hossa's contract is pretty long though and Arizona's got several big names approaching RFA, also factor in the recent OEL signing and it may get tight. Then again, Hossa can be put onto the LTIR, so we'll see how it works out.</div></div>
with the Bolland contract expiring, they're probably playing this game exactly as long as they can. from a managing standpoint, they're doing fine. all that's missing is the players actually developing into players that NEED to be paid and that's something Chayka can't do.
