LEAFS POWERHOUSE OFFSEASON
Giordano will make League min or he wont be on the Leafs.
Campbell at 4.5 mill ? He has done nothing to earn a raise of this caliber. By this logic Andrew Hammond is a 4.5mill goalie as he had a 50 game run with Ottawa where he was a top goalie. Campbell is a 2mill/year goalie.
Mikheyev will make 3.5+ mill off the UFA market from some team. In order for the leafs to keep him they will need to clear cap space.

offer sheet sandin- could be any team
What has Sandin done to deserve 3+mill and offer sheet consideration. He hasn't even played his way into being and everyday NHL player. I really like him and his potential but every NHL team has prospects like this.

Next Year After We Are One And Done Again
What in the hell has Jack Campbell done to deserve term and 4+million dollars. By this logic Andrew Hammond is worth 5mill with term as he had about a 50 game streak with Ottawa where he was one of the best goalies in the league a few years ago. Campbell is a 2 mill dollar goalie.

Off-season
I cant see the Leafs being interested in moving Robertson or any of thier top teir prospects. Dubas stated just last week that he wasnt interested in depleting the prospect pool especially after the Amirov cancer news. Im also not convinced that Dubas will trade Mrazek especially if they have to pay a price to do it.

What it would realistically cost to keep the same team
Blackwell and Mikheyev will get substantial raises. Lyubushkin Campbell Liljegren Sandin and Engvall will all get a small raise. Spezza Giordano will both be under a million as its not about money for them and Kase hasnt been able to stay healthy although he has been good i cant see any team giving him a raise due to this.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bc44</b></div><div>It all very complex. But yes the Clarkson deal is different. At the time the Leafs didnt have Marner signed. This is a very simple version. The way LTIR works is if a team has a cap on the day of 80mill and a player making 1mill is injured they would get 1 million in cap relief however if a team has 79 mill cap hit on that same day and a 1million dollar player gets hurt they receive no cap relief. This is why the Leafs dont receive Muzzins full salary relief. They did however make a few paper moves to get as close to the cap as possible before placing Muzzin on LTIR in order to gain as much relief as possible. In order to get cap relief a team needs to be cap compliant.</div></div>

I agree. All these major trades being posted are unlikely. If Dubas believes the team needs these major changes over half way through a season then he has failed as a manager and needs to resign. Clearly he doesnt believe this. At this point if major changes are going to happen it wont be done by Shanahan and Dubas.

If the Leafs need to get this desperate about improving their team in major ways over half way through the season then we all need to ask the question. Whos fault is this. If the Leafs need major changes then clearly there has been major mistakes made by management and its going to start with the firing of Shanahan Dubas and Keefe.
Personally i dont aggree with the way Dubas has built this team or how Keefe coaches it. They have a modern philosophy that i dont think will work in the playoffs. I could and would love to be 100% wrong.

You can't give the credit to anyone but Price. He was the difference in the Leafs series</div></div>
Yes Price was great last year but the Leafs couldnt get through the middle of the ice last year vs the Habs. They couldnt establish a 4check of any kind. This wasnt just the Leafs but every team the Habs played. When teams did get to the net they had to deal with Price. Clearly u and i would build teams differently and thats fine.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>That's ridiculous. The Leafs haven't broken through in the playoffs but to say they won't is silly. The core 4 will, or they will be broken up. It's on them to win, they certainly have the talent.</div></div>
They are arguably the most talented/skilled team in the league. I absolutely hope they break through this playoffs. I however do not have a short memory and i dont forget what teams/style of play the Leafs have lost to in the playoffs. CLB was a tight checking big team. MTL arguably had the slowest defence core in the NHL last year and almost didnt make the playoffs because of this. But guess what big slow and physical got them to the Stanley cup final. My point about all this is that the Leafs need to be able to play every single way not just skill skating and puck moving. The Leafs style of play wins regular season titles not stanley cups. The Leafs will either tweak their style or lose.

So maybe thats the problem with our disagreement. The system must change. The players that excel in the playoffs dont work in toronto/Keefe's system. Therefor Torontos system doesnt work in the playoffs.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>I agree on more depth but I also think most defenceman people see as better than Holl aren't better. He's very underrated and at this point his detractors just look for mistakes. Much like Rielly haters will ignore 100 things he does a game that are just terrific but point out 1 mistake to prove he isn't as good as leaf fans think he is. Some slow footed, big, stay at home defender who can't handle the puck or keep possession isn't going to do well in Keefe's system. Last year Bogosian just took it to centre and dumped it in all the time. He was by far the worst defender on the team. I would definitely upgrade Holl but this doesn't upgrade, it could very easily be a terrible fit. Muzzin benefits when his partner can move the puck and skate.</div></div>
I dont agree. I thought Bogosian was playing great down the stretch last year and then injured his shoulder just before playoffs. Sandin and Dermott were both liabilities against the habs. They struggled under heavy forecheck pressure. I also disagree eith ehat you say Muzzin needs with him. I think he would be better with a stay at home big dman Manson, Mayfield , Shenn types. I also think Holl may complement Sandins game however i dont trust it and would like to see the team aquire protection for this problem in case it happens again in the playoffs. I want to see the coach have two or three #4 #5#6 dman lineup options and the same goes for the bottom 6 fwd group

I didnt trade Holl, hes in my starting lineup. Whe i say "i dont agree" its about you saying his defensive numbers are bad. As i said there is a breakdown on youtube of him in reference to a Possible Leaf trade connection. It breaks his numbers down. I personaly believe these are the types of deals that make the Leafs a better team
