I don't mind that, but the way I look at it is if you don't have to take on any money or give up any extra assets to fill out the team with quality players than don't. Mayfield is a decent D and a RH shot but is he much better than anybody on the team now? is he really worth Brown PLUS a pick? IMO no, but some could disagree. Also, I wouldn't be in a rush to give up picks because you might need them to acquire players for another playoff run next year. I just don't think shedding picks is the way to "dump" salary

to address the "short roster spot" that's why I said with the the cap space left ($850,000) you can pick which of the farm guys you want to bring up, they all make less than that besides Engvall. Also, contrary to popular belief you don't have to start the year with 23 guys on your roster. As for Liljegren and Holl on the team....these guys need some time to develop in the NHL. With Liljegren being able to be sent down to the MArlies without hitting waivers you can send him don and bring up Borgman for example if need be or you find he's outclassed in the bigs.

2019-2020 roster thoughts
A few thoughts..... Nylander isn't getting traded. With that trade theres no way Carolina gives up a 1st and a 2nd. And no way Carolina takes Zaitsevs contract in that deal. They are already loaded with D beyond the guys they currently have in the NHL. If you trade for Pesce there's no reason to sign Coburn. Rosen will be on this team 100% next year so you don't need Coburn especially for 2mil per. at that price you could re-sign Hainsey and probably for less money. Why add Wallmark?? Gauthier will be a fine 4th line C next year just like he's been this year. And hopefully with another summer of improvement under his belt he's even better. i'm down with the Brown trade, but really, you could trade him just about anywhere for a pick. I'd also steer clear of Duclair. Hes not worth that money. Youd be better off to resign Ennis for maybe 800K or adding a guy like Brandon Tanev if Winnipeg doesn't resign him. He's got wheels, a little bit of grit and he's a great PK guy.

Sign Marner Last
And if a team offer sheets him he’s gone unless he REALLY wants to be a Leaf instead of securing his future

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tydini11</b></div><div>imo Johnsson deserves just as much as Kapanen</div></div>
He doesn’t IMO and the reason bring is Kap brings a defensive game that AJ doesn’t. Kap kills penalties so he’s more valuable. I’d actually rather they trade AJ instead of Brown. My reasoning is AJ will make more money AND they have too many of the same player right now. Not to say they are equal players but Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Kap, AJ, Marleau, Nylander all play very similar games where Brown and Hyman add a different element. I also think you’d get more for AJ than Brown.

Playoff Push
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kongol</b></div><div>To be fair I agree to an extent with the Kadri deal. My personal opinion is strong on this one. I've found him turning the puck over a lot more this season, most times on our side of center. That with his lack of back checking made me come up with the idea of trading him. Ideally to a western Conference as he has become a good shutdown center.
He’s become a good shutdown C but turns the puck over a lot and doesn’t backcheck?? That makes no sense</div></div>

simple answer is Matthews is a C and they typically make more money, especially a C that has 50 goal capabilities.
