Hayes Trade
San Jose lost out on Taveras. They are in a desperate need of a center. Hayes is someone they can sign long term after this season. Hayes fits the mold of a SJS center, big body, soft hands and plays good defense.

Rangers say no easily. Why would they give Tampa the 2nd/1st back? They are getting nothing of value in that trade

Why would the Rangers take Killorn and then give back the 2nd/1st pick and a 4th after taking Callahan's contract?

why would the Rangers want Nino. He is overpaid and the term is too long. Rangers will need that cap space in 3 years.
Rangers should keep it to cap dumps with 1 or 2 years left

Finally some realistic contracts. Honestly, Skjei could get even less.
Zuc should def be moved and a trade to Dallas could work too. Maybe take back Spezza contract and a high draft pick.

Adding the Martin and Maricin contracts only adds to the return for the rangers. Rangers can eat the Martin contract whereas if TOR holds on to him that will leave less money to pony up to Marner/Nylander/Matthews. No way you can sign all 3 without making moves like that.
TOR is in win now mode before they have to pay up

Done, but the first would be a higher first. Likely one from a Nash/Grabner trade. Or next years NYRs 1st

Ideal fire sale
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Spanky227</b></div><div>you could probably get more from WPG and hear me out.
Asking prices set by rangers as of yesterday
Grabner = 1st rounder in 2018.
Nash = 1st round pick, top prospect, lower end pick
McDonagh will go for more than nash, so figure a 1st rounder, 2-2nd rounders, absolute top prospect (also based on what Islanders got for Hamonic + a top prospect since mcdonagh is a lot better than hamonic, and he's still signed for another year)
Now the way you have that, you essentially have the rangers getting a top prospect that is just starting out in the NHL which is good. Two firsts is covered. But you have a second rounder going from the rangers to WPG which defeats the purpose of rebuilding. Plus you would be missing part of the rangers asking price for McDonagh (the second rounders).</div></div>
Yea, Rangers would get a lot more out of WNP for McDonaugh and Grabner. Take away the NYR 2nd and maybe add a WNG 2nd or two even

NYR Sellers (TBL/NSH/LAK/DAL/WPG)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hazard</b></div><div>Firstly, Youre only allowed to retain 3 contracts per season, so this doesnt work. Youre over valuing players mate. Grabner will likely land you a 2nd and something or a straight first but thats it. Nick holden is pretty doo doo so idk if Jets do this. I do like Nash trade tho. That Mcdonaugh trade is brutal tho...</div></div>
1 - I think Grabner will be a hot commodity and create somewhat of a bidding war. His cap hit / PK strength / EV goals stats make him a nice asset to acquire
2 - McDonaugh can bring that much if salary is retained. I understand that 3 is the max so some of the trades with players retained aren't necessary with their low cap hits. Nash is obviously a must though.
3 - Holden is playing top line minutes right now but he'd obviously play bottom 4 and help a contending team win. His play will most likely improve significantly not playing against top lines and off the NYR dumpster fire.
