Mid season trades to make run
Doug Armstrong doesn't make very many trades that he doesn't clearly win. He certainly isn't going to trade Tarasenko AND a pick to a Western Conference team just to trade him. If he was just going to dump him for zero value he would've done it already this offseason.

As a Blues fan who follows the Flyers, I totally understand why you'd want to add Konecny. There's no chance in hell that Philly trades him for anything less than an overpayment though.

Jeff Gorton the Miracle Worker
I think the Blues would require a Kratsov or K'Andre Miller level prospect involved to make that trade. I can definitely understand why you'd put those 3 players in the trade proposal. Those 3 players the Blues would give up definitely make the Rangers a strong team.

Realistic Pietrangelo
There is no reasonable way the Leafs can sign Petro and keep that top 6 and the 2 goalies you have listed. Those 8 players account for over $50 Million of the salary cap. That would strip the team of any depth they have and they still are at the cap. That's not feasible to win a Stanley Cup that way. I think the only way they sign Petro is if they make a trade or two from their core.

The return for Parayko isn't enough. We can get more than that IMO.

Komorav for Bozak
Not enough for Bozak. Komarov has a negative value at this point so a sweetener on the trade has to be better than Koivula and a 4th.

The Blues have zero interest in moving Thomas unless it's for a ridiculous overpayment. Denisenko is a talented prospect but doesn't move the needle for this.

Only way to get Kreider
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheEarthmaster</b></div><div>If you think he's worth giving up <strong><strong><em>a 1st, our best prospect, and our longest tenured player</em></strong></strong>, you obviously think he's the missing piece to win the cup again. I disagree, I think the Blues winning the cup and the Blues having Chris Kreider are very loosely related for a few reasons. One, there is no guarantee that his offense carries over to the Blues- we see this with rentals constantly, last year alone had Mikael Granlund and Matt Duchene significantly underform after the TDL on the new team (Columbus almost missed the playoffs!). Second, his expected goals against are terrible, which leads me think he won't be able to adjust to the defensive minded system the forwards play in the two months he would have here to adjust.
We won without Kreider, we've been winning without Tarasenko. I like Kreider I just do not believe it is worth blowing future guys who have years of cost controlled contracts such as Kyrou or whoever that first round pick would be to chase this fever dream of a repeat cup, and especially if we're chasing it like this. This is exactly part of the reason the Chicago Blackhawks became the Chicago Blackhawks.</div></div>
While I won't argue the point of bad contract decisions dooming the Blackhawks. I would also say loyalty to ineffective, overpriced players such as an Alex Steen or a Brent Seabrook, is just as culpable. First-round picks are crapshoots and for every Robert Thomas who has come through our system, we have a Ty Rattie. The risk isn't that great in giving up Kyrou and a 1st for a proven veteran scorer. I appreciate the articulate debate by the way. Not just verbal jabs because we are on opposite sides of the fence on this.

I don't think anyone thinks that Kreider is the savior of the Blues. However, Kreider's 24 goals would lead the Blues and we need goal-scoring not knowing how Tarasenko will look when he comes back.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheEarthmaster</b></div><div>People acting like Kreider is going to save this team or something.
No team has won the cup with a pure rental top six forward since the Kings traded for Marian Gaborik five years ago. And they only gave up a second and a third. High impact/ high priced rentals rarely result in a cup win, folks.</div></div>

Don't mind the trade but this seems like there has to be another move to be made. Does this make Petro or Parayko expendable? Do they move Petro in the last year of his deal? Bring back a kings ransom for Parayko? Bortuzzo is a good 3rd pairing RH d-man so this seems like a overload on the right side and weak on the left...

Hypothetical team 3 years from now
I wouldn't do the trade for an unproven Gusev. I'd rather allocate his 6.5 M plus other salaries towards an offer sheet for Matthew Tkachuk. I would keep Gusev in mind as a backup plan but with the cupboard full of draft picks why not shoot our shot on the STL boy.

That package from Philly gets Petro alone with an extension signed. RH #1 Defenseman who can play in all situations don't grow on trees. Just because the Blues are blessed with him and Parayko doesn't mean we will take anything less than an overpayment.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jpfite</b></div><div>I don't see that Tampa trade ever happening</div></div>
Tampa trades from a roster strength (forwards and LHD) to address a position of need (top pairing RHD) while not adding significantly salary wise. That was my mode of thinking in that proposal.

Not interested in an aging Quick or his contract and Thomas is not available for anyone on the Kings roster. Schwartz is worth a lot more than that offer. Schenn for Dadonov doesn't seem like something Florida wants as they want more cap space not less.

When Steen has only 2 more points than Maroon this year its pathetic. Oh and he makes 4 million dollars more a year than ole Patty. Lots of Blues fans were ready to run Maroon out of town when we should all actually be thanking him for not being Steen...;-)
