Even though they already announced it a few weeks ago, I wonder if Seth Jones is still guaranteed a spot on the roster with Bowman out. In my opinion if you’re building this team on merit and not just picking him because he is a “big name” making big money he certainly shouldn’t.

Thats not fair or accurate. He has incredible gap control and mobility when he chooses to use it. He’s a good and underrated 3rd pair dman… I do agree that I’d be a bit nervous to play him 2nd pair minutes.

Also just realized Dermott isn’t even on the 2nd line in this lineup so I have no idea what you’re talking about lmfao

The leafs are most definitely not carrying 7 d this year. They have the advantage of Liljegren still being waiver exempt and will be looking for cap relief to make a trade at the deadline when they inevitably need to add a top 6 LW lol

I hope you’re right but you really should lower your expectations. Everyone on that bottom six has question marks whether it be age, coming off a bad season, what a guy really looks like when he isn’t shooting an ungodly 26%, etc.

I really like those first two lines. Tatar would be an incredible fit with Matthew and Marner and Kerfoot showed great chemistry with Nylander in the playoffs and is probably more suited to the wing. The rest of the forwards though… very underwhelming. Maybe it won’t matter if you’re limiting those two lines to 10 minutes or less a night.

There is one single contract on that entire team that is an overpay by about 1-1.5m. That’s it... literally one. And he is a truly elite RW in the NHL. Your stupid ass gm took on a player who’s only chance of finding a modicum of success is to be sent down to the AHL at 6m per year for 3 more years with a NMC. Anyway, have fun with that washed up defensive defenseman who looked like a shell of himself last year that your idiot GM just signed. The Leafs will gladly take your best dman from last year for 0.5m more.

Lucic is not a good contract, but the worst? Not since the Oilers are paying him 750K and he rebounded in play to be a fairly valuable asset in the second half and the playoffs..... oh and to get that bad contract, we moved out an equally bad contract. While overpaid, he's not the worst contract in the league, that honor is clearly bestowed upon Bobrovky.

See but another thing is, every GM signs some bad contracts, Dubas on the other hand, seems to like to give every player 2m+ too much and while you aren't stuck with an egregious contract, it hurts the trade value of all of your players and you end up having to dump multiple poor contracts rather than 1 bad one.

As for us losing 2 of our top 3 defensemen to free agency.... what the **** are you talking about? We are potentially losing 1 to free agency, as Rasmus Andersson was very clearly equal with Brodie last season and Hanifin was right behind them, both considerably better than Hamonic who fell off the map this past season, who is I assume is who you think our #3 defenseman is. We also have Valimaki returning, who was already looking like a top 4 defenseman prior to his injury and is already absolutely killing in in Finland on his COVID loan. We also signed Mackey who by all accounts is NHL ready. Then we have Kylington ready for a regular role too and Yelesin in the AHL also ready to step in. Also, shall I mention the irony of a Leafs fan talking defense? You guys have a #1 and a #3, you have a couple kids with potential that haven't shown squat. Your blueline is as barren as my sex life.</div></div>

And I thought most Leaf fans were delusional...
