Next Season
For skinner why not package for disgruntled, shine him up with this years first, and go get zegras, or somebody with a buylow and some years to make good, abundance of youth and recent elcs time for a home run gamble.

I never called you a troll, just a little self reflection, Buffalo grabbed a few Winnipeg ice guys, the junior franchise has moved on, but still pull for the young fellows, and for that matter the Sabres, possibly my east team. Or maybe I’m just a sucker for punishment and underdogs. Hopefully the right adds are there and the kids come quick for next year. They should make it easier for me and grab the younger geekie from Arizona, so all the old ice are on the same team. Good luck with the pegulas

I could see a no go to Arizona, Buffalo to California might be a different answer, with the assets accumulation and elcs ready to crack Buffalo, there actually could be a place here for a sell off a pick, 3 year elc along with the 27 million to convince the right team to try it out. Not sure the ufa market, makes it make sense though, with Reinhardt allready have been there, he’s probably not coming back. Buffalo has to figure out if 1c/2c is in house or if it’s a buy top c on the market to knock everyone else down one. Tending turning the corner, blueline the envy of the league going forward, just the right c and or winger to put this squad over the top would be something.

Still think we need to get a little more like a junior team, and attempt to pick our windows. Trade into 3/4 draft years, do everything we can for 5/7 years, and do it all again. Try to max out for 2/3 runs, and then sell to draft the next nucleus. Could get ugly if squad gets too old, or too mediocre/mid, and no ufas coming to save the day. But is what it is, lots of depth, legit tender and hopefully we score enough to keep playing.

Ducks have a cup, one cup by my jets and I would accept and not complain about hockey purgatory/hell for life. Trade remotely competitive for one cup. Not sure our fan base even thinks it’s possible

Sabres SHOULD be too, such a nice young group coming, tending starting to get there legs under them, blueline is envy of a lot of teams, forward group could use that elite 1c without losing any of the key cogs. But plenty of cap, and picks to go any sort of direction they want. Mighty frustrating I bet though

Buffalo in a place to shine up skinner with there first even, and go on a 15 million dollar spending spree, not exactly sure why they would trade away there kids to get in the way of that. That’s without even looking at ufa market.

Sabres pick enough to move on from skinner? Could be a rather interesting ufa season with 15/16 million, one wild roster coming. Tending starting to come together, such a great add in byram. Just a matter of the right adds up front and the cap to make it all work.

Does 10 oa get you able to move 27 million skinner on to a rebuilding sharks possibly. 15 million to splash around is probably more fun than dealing anyone away. Not sure what the ufa market is offering, but an improving goalie group, no need to spend on the blueline, other than reup who is all ready there. Not a bad forward group, but some cash could make it rather interesting very soon. Lots of youth time to add some vets that can be key for 3/5 years. Interesting squad going forward.

Moose need 6 months of mcgroarty and lambert together, possibly monahan/Toffoli replacements in time. Probably can’t extend demelo and go get pulock. For the right price I could get over a miller/stanley/heinola 5/6/7. Ehlers extension or trade most important news of the summer for me.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>I'd love to see Laine back with the Jets, I still believe in Patty even with his struggles, don't see the Jets bringing him back though so it's a moot point anyway.
My only concerns with Toffoli and Monahan is their ages, Toffoli will be 32 in April and Monahan turns 30 in October, what do these guys want to stick around Winnipeg?
Also Friedman reported the other day that Toffoli is looking for a Killorn type contract so $6M or so ×4 or 5... Idk man, good player but there's some risk there, age decline and injuries could make those contracts look awful sooner then later.
I see Monahan as more necessary to keep then Toffoli, no 2C in the system, maybe Lambert but this organization isn't starting a rookie at 2C so will need Monahan to bridge that gap if they want to remain competitive.
I think Ehlers is gone this summer, I'm a big fan but Bones isn't so I'm guessing you'll get your wish with a Toffoli and/or Monahan extensions.
I'm all for trading Perfetti for the right return.</div></div>
Perfetti/schmidt for a ducks second? Could really use that cap. Teams in trouble if they trade ehlers, I believe he’s the one that scares the other teams bluelines, might not show up as much on the scoreboard, but key cog in the wheel. 4x on both monahan and Toffoli would be quite the gamble, but kind of interesting, possibly creative with Toffoli, maybe shorter and a bigger number. Your probably right though, probably outbid or out termed on possibly one or both. Perfetti/schmidt off the books could make next year work and walk iafallo and Appleton to free agency, replaced with lambert/mcgroarty a year later. So possibly elc to make up difference.. ehlers trade a non starter for me unless they can’t come to term on extension

Make it all work
I wouldn’t mind keeping miller, I was kicking the idea of shipping perfetti with Schmidt, to attempt to upgrade this years draft capital, walk iafallo and Appleton to free agency and replace them from within in with lambert and mcgroarty a year later. Possibly need another year on demelo and monahan to not be outbid, but I would take my chances with this adventure.

Little too much term on monahan, might take a little more to dump Schmidt, kind of interesting point where they could in fact sell perfetti, dump Schmidt, possibly keep iafallo and maybe miller til they can buy at deadline. Couple moose to replace Appleton/barron a year later. Probably need an extension on ehlers and a plan on Connor, I like the idea of keeping Toffoli, finally a guy to replace laine.

Toffoli signature would be better than a laine return, cheaper/peaks and valleys not as extreme. Would be interesting to see what this offseason brings with a few guys getting closer to being able to walk for nothing, starting to hope for Toffoli and monahan signatures, just about at a ship perfetti/schmidt to ducks for a early second to buy some cap. Extend ehlers and take two healthy swings at it beyond this year. <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>Will be surprised if Perfetti can ever be a center in the NHL, maybe he can fill out his frame a bit but doubt he'll ever have the speed.</div></div>

testing the waters
Possibly a spot to dump Schmidt, Jets probably in a tough spot to match depending on number, believe there’s a rather large make it or move on for the first half of next year, on a short show me contract. Crazy that the ducks have been so bad and mediocre at best for so long it seems. Should be easy sell for free agency, just a matter of getting right nucleus together I guess.

Keeping some guys
Going to be an interesting offseason, with pionk/ehlers/iafallo a year out of free agency, and Connor a couple years out, along with some key guys in free agency. Lots of decision times, could see a Schmidt buyout, and possibly a good sized trade at draft, to find some cap for the possibility of keeping monahan/toffoli. Same token can’t put too much term on monahan and or Toffoli, can’t get too old. Isles look they have turned the corner with Roy, so much term and money so would be interesting on how they make moves, probably another monster extension with dobson, so possibly a sale, but tend to doubt it. Pretty good price on pulock.

What no pld for good measure, stay the course, bargain hunt your vets and time out some bad contracts and keep building with kids and picks. Taking time but going to come together in not so distant future, no need to overspend or add debacle contracts to delay or derail build.

Why? What’s best case scenario? Play to his contract, worse case way too big of risk over reward, might as well reward from within or have the cap for a ufa you can’t live without. Would need one hell of a gift to take that cancer on, how many cities til it makes it the player is the issue?

I'm not so sure, he's quite solid in a 3rd pair role but when higher up he looks a bit lost, maybe I'm wrong about that though.
I thought Stanley looked so much better in his last stint of games, I know I'm in the minority but I'd keep him around, he's a serviceable 3rd pair guy and as the saying goes 'you can't teach size.</div></div>
All depends on right side, morrissey/samberg/stanley/heinola I would get over if the right side is improved, throwing money at right side might not quite do it. Demelo/pionk/miller/schmidt might not quite get it done. Would like an upgrade somewhere, but cap looking like a bit of an issue going forward.
