Plus we don't have the capspace, wed have around 3 mil after signing our rfas, and got Hube and Weegs to extend next season</div></div>
Definitely wrong choice on my part then, interesting time when a lot of teams are built, with not a whole lot of wiggle room. Thanks for the help

Random team with cap room, he’s worth a 2/3 and somebody is playing him in top 4. My research isn’t very good.

Ya probably should have been more creative with a lesser pick or cap retained, both players probably going to be passed in not so distant future on depth. Not great to give them away, but I think toews could bring something that not many guys can, possibly settle the room, possibly bring a swagger back to the squad.

I’m actually kind of hoping for a toews appearance, maybe stack up 4 centers and see if a one and done sort of squad could entertain. Possibly new stastny with a bigger resume and influence. Cap could be a issue, but possibly a open up a spot for samberg and or heinola. Lots of random stone handed youth to move for toews. Anything but a first would be the negotiations and kids.

Why would Montreal pay sticker price on Dubois? Such a dumb move on his part or agent, zeroing his sights on one franchise 2 years out, especially when his dad works in the jets organization.

Same with 2017 draft.
Butterfly affect.
Quit crying over spilled milk. It accomplishes nothing.
But lets do it. Why stop after the 1st.
Lets take Connor
Take Chabot - despite being all offense/no defense in jrs - exact opposite of what they needed
Take a center - despite Bergy and DK being entrenched as top 6 for years to come - but take Aho - better choice
Round 2
Keep Carlo
Take Hintz over JFK
Take Dunn or Rasmus Anderson over Lauzon
Round 3. Take Nichols Roy over Vladar
Round 4 take Conor Garland over Jesse Gabrielle
Round 5 - don’t trade the pick to Minny and take Kaprizov themselves.
Phew. 🤷🏻♂️
There has never been a perfect draft…by any team.</div></div>
Lining 3 up in the first like that is like the Vikings swearing about Gary anderson or the 04 flames or 99 Sabres. Reminisce for a lifetime til there’s something new, Boston fans pre Kraft, 04 and 11 understand.

If we really want to get back into the playoffs
Prefer the complete sell high rebuild, tear it right back to the kids, but this is starting to grow on me a bit. Toews with the right hunger, drive, and health could be a interesting player to bring cup winning pedigree and possibly heal a room. Tatar type offensive veteran for top 9 never hurts, possibly straight grind line and save Appleton to have a role with toews or higher. Such a shrinking window with interesting contract decisions everywhere you turn around, I just wish they decide either way and not try to do both half assed.

Interesting idea, probably have to sell more of the future to secure it, chicago fanbase would be pissed. I say interesting if the jets willing to do absolutely everything possible to win a cup in two years, even losing a ton for free after it was all said and done. Sell out for one parade with no guarantees would be wild.

Real question is, am I wrong? I just don’t see a buffy reappearing along with a laine, possibly even throw in a little. 6 I believe is what you need to move the ship forward, and jets running on 3 and 1/2 maybe four. Depending on scheifele and Dubois combination. Helly/Connor/ehlers are at least 3 short of what is needed, and I got a one track mind that ends up on jets hockey more often than it should lol.

Heinen just declined the Jets who apparently made a more lucrative offer though who knows exactly how much more, if they can't get a Heinen to sign than Idk, I'd say they're pretty much screwed.
Jets need a culture change, is a guy who's made his intentions of leaving going to be good to have around for that culture change? I'd think not.</div></div>
I would out penguins the penguins for Lemieux or Magically Crosby. Time for the jets to swing for bedard. Get Ladd back a little nostalgia for the fanbase, piss off or alienate the Schmidt and wheelers to waive and sell high on helly/Connor/ehlers, sell medium on demelo/scheifele/Dubois, sell low on Schmidt/wheeler. Give morrissey and pionk the option. Fill the squad with vets and possibly a few kids, take the paper bags and boo birds in stride. Try to get as many 1sts as possible, then settle for some early elcs.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wpgman</b></div><div>Very good point about Dvorak and how long he will be here. Dubois >>>> Dvorak</div></div>
Somebody has to tell Chevy and the jets that they are a small market Canadian city, they can’t compete heads up with the ny and floridas of the league or even Toronto montreals. They took there swing in my opinion, it missed time to sell high on a few, sell middle and possibly sell low and move earth for whatever can be gained in first round in next few drafts. Getting swinging again in 25 when cap and age comes to colorado/st.Louis/Dallas. Awfully tough to push all in for 3rd to wildcard spot. There are not more physical than stlouis, not more offensively gifted than colorado, so awfully tough to get out of central. Tender may steal be able to steal one, 5vs5 probably a coin flip, special teams possibly jets, physical depending on team possibly jets. But jets don’t have the ability to buy on the open market, so delaying a sale is going to prolong the bubble and agony in my opinion, but jets haven’t got the memo, so hopefully a miracle or magic coming lol

I think jets either need to keep building and go all in for a two year window and risk losing a few guys for nothing or sell and sell large, not sure if there is a nucleus to be built without being drafted by Winnipeg and being a jet from the start. So firesale for draftpicks and possibly elc contracts, or double down on current and let the chips fall where they may. Whose to say that dvorak who is regularly moved to Winnipeg on this site, doesn’t want to walk in three years, and possibly have to move in 2 anyway. So why not just keep Dubois til deadline in two years and move him as a rental or hockey trade depending on playoff situation.

Your probably right and I’m more speculating on what I would want done, jets need another scorer like laine to be relevant again. Especially with the aging and uncertainty of scheifele and wheeler. Connor and ehlers can only carry them so far, so time to see what they have in samberg/heinola and anybody else in that category. Would rather gamble on samberg and heinola, then drop Schmidt to third pairing, demelo and Dillon would be on the block for me if your moving Dubois. It’s kind of a one foot in two canoe scenario and there going in different directions otherwise.
