<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SK101</b></div><div>Zucker costs a first to dump in this market. So it’s kane half retained for poulin and a cap dump in mcginn? Yeah can’t see this happening at all. Take zucker out and it’s an okay offer that probably still gets beat</div></div>
Maybe but Kane has some leverage in where he gets to go... From things he has said in the past, I could see Pittsburgh making sense... And Chicago needs someone on that team who can score a goal this year.... I agree Zucker probably has negative value but he could be another TDL trade (with salary retained) for a contender looking to add depth in the middle-6. I could easily see them getting a 1st or 2nd for him at the dead line. But Zucker would have to go salary wise for Pittsburgh. But I agree, that to trade Zucker it would have significant negative value. But the blackhawks have plenty of cap space.
Kane will want to stay in the US. Chicago and PIT is pretty close. And he will be on a contender. I think it makes the most sense for Kane if he were to go somewhere before the season. Also, he spends his off seasons near Lake Erie. I could see the Rangers being another place. Rangers probably make the most sense.

I understand the idea but if you can trade Murrays rights for a player like Bouchard, why do you need to trade Letang for a bunch of stuff you dont really want? Neal and Larsson can't be where Pit wants to go. If Letang has one less year than Neal and even if you have to decrease his work load I would rather have Letang overpaid on a second pairing than Neal for almost 6 mil bouncing between second and third lines.</div></div> Because no way Oilers can do it without sending back a expendable RHD and a higher cost forward. Oilers want to win now and Letang is an upgrade on Larsson and helps them more now than Bouchard.

But given that Letang would only have 1 year left after next season.... you are getting a decade of Bouchard. I wish he had like 25 games to his resume but I feel like he is a can't miss prospect. Could be wrong.

Simon is a high possession guy who could be a real cheap option for the cap strapped Oilers. Can play on the top 6. Might not score at Neals clip (or even close) but he contributes in other ways for pennies on the dollar.
I would agree with you on that however apparently nobody agrees with me about that... But Bouchard I think is the future and a more responsible player. He'll be the penguins #1 D and he is a RHD. Bouchard/Marino on the right side is sick. I think Neal has positive value but only if the team has the cap for him. Plus I feel like Malkin needs a little motivation. Nothing gets Malkin going like playing with Neal. And we are taking back cap which is of value to the Oilers. We are also taking back money in Larsson to open up a spot and cap for Letang. But Bouch, Neal, and Larsson hold way more value than just Simon and Letang. So that's where Murray's value makes up the difference and fills the cap void created. I would also be for swapping 1sts (1 spot)... If we don't get 1OV, I think there's going to be some nice options at 15.

I don't like this tool I needed to add mike smith and conor sheary (UFAs) just to make it happen....
But basically. The penguins take much needed salary from Edmonton in exchange for Kris Letang (better than Larsson), pick up franchise goalie which can be paid for by shipping out Neal who isn't a bad player. In exchange for freeing up cap and providing a piece that makes losing Bouchard hurt a little less. Penguins set up their future blue line.
Guentzel - Crosby - Poulin
Neal - Malkin - Rust
Zucker - ????McCann/Hallander/Blueger??? - Hornqvist
ZAR - Blueger/Lafferty - Tanev
Dumo - Marino
JPO-Larsson
Petterson - Bouchard

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mhockey91</b></div><div>id love for him to develop into a Dumo Lite kind of player. I think its entirely possible</div></div>
In his first full season in the league he put up better stats than Dumo. His stats were right on par with Dumo this year holding together horrible likes with often a weak partner in Jack Johnson and playing less minutes. The biggest difference was Dumo was +14 higher than Petterson which is understandable. Dumo has a great track record in the playoffs though but Petterson hasn't really had the opportunity yet..... This is why I am not opposed to the risk of a long term extension, especially if one of those years is a lockout.

That's what you focus on..... And we are talking about GMJR. He just gave Tanev 6 years..... I went for higher AAV just to be safe in the cap standings I expect he'll get around 3-3.5M x 4 years. But IMO long term there's like 70% chance we look back and just wish we locked him up at 4 for 7 years getting him to age 30. He'll be another Dumo IMO.

Pretty sure he had like 17 goals this year.... He wasn't Crosby's winger either.

Buffalo Blow It Up
This team needs experience and leadership. Read RoR interview from today. Nobody even cared when they lost because it was normal. There aren't many options for this year but JC is going to be good for a while. He is like a Sergei Gonchar. As Dahlin gets experience and more ice time Carlson gets less. Mike Green will be gone by the time Dahlin or Middlestadt or Nylander get a big pay raise. If you suck like Buff, AZ, etc. you need to pay guys more. That is how you get anybody signed.

I know what RFAs are DA. Kuhnackel won't cost anything significant Grubuer is a pick. sue me for not trying to guess which one because likely depends on his playoff performance... But also Caps won't be able to match an offer sheet but that is like 5% chance of happening.

That is ridiculous. The only ones maybe going somewhere is Hunwick or Sheary. Maybe RFA's like Kuhnackel or Simon for a pick but later is unlikely. Great deals. Hagelin will be with us through his contract most likely. If we trade out Hunwick + Sheary we will have more cap space than we would know what to do with (hence maybe allow us to pick up guys at the deadline). But there is no reason to get rid of Maatta or Dumoulin.
If I had to trade them and this is with PGH having all the leverage I would trade:
Dumo for a top 15 OV pick + roster player + higher end prospect preferably on D.
Mattta = 1st + top d prospect + roster player
Hagelin = Top 4 rental dman or a top 6 forward
