Chicago Blackhawks signed Philipp Kurashev (2 Years / $2,250,000 AAV)
He only scored 25 points and he was a defensive nightmare. Last year, his On-Ice Goal Differential was over 14 BELOW expected, so this is a bad performance on a bad team. Furthermore, this is actually worse than the year before, so it's not just that he's young and getting better.

lol give up a prospect, a high 2nd, and a potential first to help the Leafs with Murray, retain 14mm, and overpay a winger for 3-4 years of a rebuild.

Leaf fans have been spending their time at the cottages telling themselves that every day that passes Murray becomes a more valuable asset.
Nylander being a Toronto UFA to be has tremendous value. If Nylander was coming from a US team to toronto the offer would be murray, robertson and 3rd

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Knuckl3s</b></div><div>LOL, you actually thought he was gonna get that little in terms of total money?</div></div>
$6m x 8 = $48m. That is a lot of money.
There are only 32 dmen in NHL today that have gotten $6m on max term. That would put Dunn solidly in #2/#3 range. I think that’s fair.

San Jose is already at the contract limit with Karlsson out; Petry, Granlund, 1 prospect coming in (trade example).
Throwing a bunch of junk of SJS isn’t going to get the deal done, likely the opposite.

Barabanov isn't an add-on/sweetener type player. He's a legit top 6 winger on a 2.5 mil contract he'll get a solid return on his own at the deadline with no retention

Leddy Movement 2
Don't need him, too many LD already and his age doesn't fit our timeline. It would only make sense as a flip, but then we'd have to retain too and we only have two slots left. One for Karlsson and one reserved probably for a player on expiring contract (Like Duclair or Barabanov at the deadline).
The only way I see this happening is if he comes with a pick, and $7.5m in cap spread over three years should be at least a 2nd if not a 1st in compensation.
Also, big doubts that San Jose is on Leddy's approved trade list.

which offer is beter
SJ is flooded with LDs so not sure they have interest in LD prospects, but the ones being sent are quality so maybe it doesn't matter, just throwing it out there that they'd probably be looking for RDs or decent forward prospects. Both these returns are decent though but PITs is better

Sorry, what?
SJ Gets:
- 1st
- 2nd (not even in 2024)
- a cap dump forward
- a cap dump d-man with term (Petry and Granlund are a combined 11.25 mil)
- and a mediocre LD prospect in a system that has a LD logjam
While they give up:
- Norris winning d-man with 3.5 mil retained/8 mil cap hit
- Top/middle six forward (55-60 pt pace last season) with a 2.5 mil cap hit (worth a 1st+ by himself)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dk325</b></div><div>If they were tearing it down then it would be an amazing deal that they'd take in a heartbeat. That's just not where they feel they are right now which is why Jarmo didn't even take calls on Boone at the TDL. They want to compete and he's a part of their core that they feel they can make the playoffs with in the near future.</div></div>
Well I see your perspective but I highly disagree with the idea that Columbus is a playoff team in the "near future." The East is just too stacked for them to be a playoff bound team for another 3-4 years I'd say. I can absolutely be wrong. Columbus has a solid prospect pool and they have drafted really really well imo in the past few years. If Bedard lands in Columbus the trek to playoffs is cut in half, but that's not a sure thing
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gretzkyghosts</b></div><div>Skyraider112
The first three are certainly possible and fair.
Unlikely Jenner would be available.
So you moved two forwards who are prime candidates to be replaced by Savoie and Kulich next year and picked up 2 first round picks.
I am all over that future, sustain the pipe line.
Cozens, Power, Dahlin are worth much more right now than they were when they were drafted.
<strong>
THAT WOULD BE A GREAT FUTURE AND GREAT TEAM NEXT YEAR.</strong></div></div>
Thanks for your thoughts. I was vocal on CF about my displeasure with acquiring Greenway, especially at the price. I have not yet seen anything to change my view on my displeasure. To be fair however, he has only played 8 games for us, I'd love for him to have a great season next year, but hope its with another club. Savoie needs to be in Buffalo next season if he shows he is ready and he cannot be expected to be on a checking line when his immediate strengths are skill, speed, and playmaking. He'd be perfect on a line with Krebs (they got the Winnie ICE connection too)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>You do realize that Edmonton is the highest scoring team in the league, right? They have 12 players with 10 or more goals and 4 with 33 or more. And none of those 4 are named Evander Kane, who has 20+ in each of his past 7 seasons, and has scored 49 in just 92 games in an Oilers uniform.
They aren't looking for more scoring unless it comes with speed, physicality and defensive ability. Olofsson doesn't. There are teams that are desperate for goals who have cap space and will pay something for him, but I don't think Edmonton is one of them.</div></div>
Yes I do realize. The main point of this trade as I iterated is to dump Campbell's contract and therefore clear cap space for the Oilers moving forward. Buffalo takes a chance on Campbell coming back to form, at least to a form of a 1B goalie. I get your point of the Oilers not needing more scoring, so perhaps the trade is just Edmonton paying to move Campbell and FC going to Edmonton.

I don't think there's really much risk of the Yotes to be moved to be honest, the NHL is committed to that TV market and even if they do move them the next location is better off with a young team that could be on the rise instead of a patchwork of guys of different ages that as a collective would be going nowhere.

I mean getting a 1st in this draft would be awesome and probably could flip scandella with retention elsewhere

Doubtful Vlasic waives. People have speculated he might waive for Montreal because he's from there, but beyond that he's always consistently stated that he wants to remain a Shark.
As for the deal itself, the only real appeal for SJ is to save real dollars on his contract. This outcome would be better cap wise too, but we aren't really desperate for cap space right now. A buyout in his final year (or he just retires) is more likely if we end up needing the space. This is all before you take into account that we would be tying up a retention slot for 3 years when we are already using one on Burns for the next two. Overall I'd rather keep Vlasic and explore retaining salary on one of our other big contract veteran players.
