Realistic? Re-toolish builderthings
so the detroit trade is fair due to the taking the entire datsyuk contract with no retained $.
yeah the ana deal is a little off, maybe eating a few more $s.
Benning has made less intelligent moves recently so i'm not exactly thinking its soo far off

Rangers reborn
That staal trade may be unrealistic, but the rest of it is pretty reasonable, coukd see rfas costing a bit more, but i see where u were going w term. I think the staal deal could happen, but wed need to take only a 7th and throw in a sweetener, goalie prospect or future pick.

Stepan (heads explode)
not for nothing, dont really think the rangers are interested in that trade at all, taking a #1c and giving up a bad contract + zucker -- would have to look more like high end prospect, low end roster player + 1st

Maybe this will work
Comparing a top prospect (by no means elite prospect) with the value of Rick Nash - yeah the guy might not score in the post season (the rangers need to do a shake up, he may be the victim) - nash was injured this year but 1 season removed from 42 goals - and by many metrics he actually out performs his contract - yeah though he isn't worth a prospect - thats bull.

I really like this roster construct - great job.
I have 2 gripes, 1 large 1 small - the small one is the same as above, i think we can get a little more for nash, throw in a 2nd and i think its golden.
That Staal deal though --- i think if you made it for only nichushkin and the 4th it might actually fly, this seems like too much for dallas to give up.

Thoughts on This
I see a ton of peple saying that nash isn't good anymore or that st louis has no interest in nash. ST. LOUIS WAS RUMORED TO BE A LANDING SPOT FOR HIM, inferring that they actually in fact DO have interest in that player. IF they were to "take care of backes" they would be stuck with a contract till the guy is like 38 years old, hes already a grinder/ PF, not a speed guy so will he be able to keep up in 1 or 2 more years? Thats a huge risk, at least nash's production is solid and only 2 years left, plus rangers will eat some $. Way less risk involved there.
Staal (retain 1.7mm) + rights 2 Kreider = ok return (3rd liner & 3rd rounder) something like that i'd think.

Rangers moves please give feedback
Maybe some of you should use some salary comparison metrics - rick nash is worth about 10% of the cap - compared to other forwards at that cap hit, he is a reasonable price, possibly a little overvalued. the difference comes in post season production, he does not produce well in the playoffs. (look at his p60, CF, CA60 - metrics that i'm using to justify his price).
I dont think the logic is that flawed in your trades, i think the value is just slightly off. I think in order to move staal's contract a sweetener will need to be added, that should be where jensen can come in. I think if we do a deal with the blues it would be more than 2 players involved in it.
I'd hate to see hayes walk for nichushkin straight up because i think the 2 of them together would be outstanding.

Kreider + Faulk
I'm not sure the rangers are looking to add salary like this deal now, rangers need cheap young talent, which b skej has in bunches. I dont think they would ADD kreider to that mix. This just doesn't make sense from their POV.

keepin yandle
The name of the game for creating this team was that the RFA's could be strong armed - in the rangers sense of the word, as they really do not have leverage, I am pretty sure both Miller & Hayes do not have arb rights.
I bought out staal in this scenario to assume that NYR can't find a trade partner, in which case, that gives NYR even more cap room to keep yandle.

i think all o your salary figures are pretty spot on for what should be expected pending decent years by hayes and kreider - a breakou year by hayes may cost a little more - honestly i'd be afraid, very afraid of an offer sheet for him, so i'd even up that figure a bit to avoid that shi7 show. -- only salary on here that is completely FUBAR is Dom Moore -doubt he would take it.

rangers rolling 4 skill lines
I def agree that they were by FAR the most high performing line last year. I did this as an exercise to play with what ifs. Part of that what if scenario is that stepan is really much better than brass but was dragged down by playing with MSL last season.
As far as Lindberg goes -i'm hopeful that he can be a 3rd line center/ winger and make an impact that way, I was just sort of shaking my head though with the line miller/lindberg/etem - as a too young, to little experience line - but i def see where ur coming from - besides stalberg/lindberg/fast - would be a very quick line, incredibly responsible defensively as a 4th line should be.

Rangers Thoughts comments
I dont see why you would trade hayes, especially for bergland who's cap hit is going to be what hayes will be for the next two years. AND getting rid of Yandle -- we gave up a LOT for that guy, would ideally like to see how he handles a full season in NY. Why Megna over Lindberg?
