why not? only long term contracts they have are Barkov, Tkachuk, Bob/Knight. Could easily see them attempting to move on from one of Bob/Knight since having $14.5M tied up in goalies isn't the wisest. I understand Verhaege/Lundell/Ekblad/Reinhart will have to be resigned in the next 2 years but still plausible to add a $6.5M LHD to a team that is lacking LHD options longterm

Whatever
Moving Krug and a 2nd round pick for Mantha who only has 1 year remaining would be amazing. Don't think signing Graves helps though. I think if you are going to commit to anyone over $3-4M on the defense it HAS to be a 1a/1b LHD to pair with Colt55. Graves/Leddy/Krug/etc are good not top line pairing guys

Don't actually even want him but had to trade another (less) bad contract for one additional year in exchange. Saves STL from using more picks to move Leddy. Though I doubt Army moves him in year 1 of a 4 year deal.

Leafs Go Blues
You are giving up a lot but I still don't think it's enough. Kerfoot/Engvall are cap throw-ins. Might be able to flip Kerfoot for a 3rd to another contender.
Topi + 1st = ROR
Knies + 1st = Probably not enough for Buch/Barbashev. Buch is young and controlled for 2.5 seasons at $5.8M for a PPG player that is probably 2 1sts and an A prospect. Barbashev is probably a 2nd round pick.

For the life of me, I will never understand his reluctance to give a NMC but will give NTC to guys like Leddy, Krug, Saad, Faulk. I understand the other NTCs as they are core guys and have been around a while and won the cup but my god he should have given Petro his NMC and the statue outside Enterprise.

Apologies. I forgot that Kakko's 76 points in 3.5 years in the NHL is worth way more than someone who put up 82 points last year.

The math suggests offseason is done
I agree that we likely won't see any big moves but I would be surprised if one of Mikkola/Scandella/Krug aren't moved. Doubtful we keep 8 one-way contracts on D along with Rosen getting paid $760k in the AHL. Obvious preference to dump Scandella's contract but the cost for that is TBD.

It is really hard to build a team around 1 year deals due to the impending cap crunch with the aforementioned players next year. I'd love to sign Geno or Giroux for a year and call it good but that isn't feasible. All of this AGM is under the assumption of DA only wanting to commit to players for 1 year. Ideally, we'd resign Perron and trade for a top 4 LHD D but that might not be possible. Also, Stastny is not a 4th liner. He put up nearly 50 points

Pens - Interesting Move
STL definitely needs a LHD - but someone who can play 20 minutes a night with Parayko. Don't think Pettersson is that guy nor would we retain on a 1:1 swap. PIT would be adding in this very unlikely scenario.

Hahah I agree. His contract isn't great but he is basically the perfect Bouwmeester replacement for Parayko. I thought about trading him to a 3rd team to retain 50% but that seemed too costly for a team to retain for 4 years. Works for this year in my world above but also likely forces us to lose one or two of Kyrou, Thomas, Tarasenko, O'Reilly next year with no replacement besides internally.

Somewhat reasonable from STL's end but feel that Army will not want to have no pick until #58. Would only give up the 1st rounder if SEA is also taking Scandella back to clear some cap.

In the notes, Barbashev is the main piece. Scandella is likely sent to a 3rd team. I think Barbarshev for Edmundson is a good base for the trade. Other pieces could be added.

Despite the fact the value is off, how many NHL teams want to execute a four for one deal? Do you have need of those three players and one middling prospect? I can't imagine anybody wants a deal like that.</div></div>
"4 players we don't want"?? Loof is a solid LHD prospect, Barbashev is 25 and just put up 60 points, Kostin is mostly a throw-in, Scandella is still a solid bottom pairing guy (slightly overpaid). We can add a second round pick or something but it's not that far off.

Next Year
Our team already has too many RW as is...Buch, Tarasenko, Perron, Kyrou are all natural RWs. I understand all of them but Tarasenko can flip sides when needed but I don't think trading for Puljujarvi and signing him for 5 years is a smart move. We are trending towards a team that has an expensive top 4D and top 7-8 forwards. We won't have a lot of money to spend on depth 8-14 forwards. That was part of the reason to move Sundqvist.

All early signs point to Perron wanting more $$$ than the 3.5M you have proposed here. Also have just enough cap for the 14th forward here. Some big decisions to make this offseason for sure.</div></div>
I could see Perron signing for 1 year, $5-6 million this year and then taking a very team friendly deal next year when we have to re-sign ROR, Vladdy, Kyrou, Thomas (at least 3 of the 4).

Schenn has full NTC - doubt he waives for DET, but otherwise STL would have to take that deal purely as a cap dump. Schenn's contract won't age too well.

Top 4 LD
In order of who I want: Lindell, Sanheim, Chychrun, Provorov, Gavrikov, Graves, Petterson
In order of reasonableness both in terms of what we would have to trade and opposing team's position: Gavrikov, Graves, Provorov, Petterson, Sanheim, Chychrun, Lindell.
Basically, I feel like ARZ wants a fortune for Chychrun and DAL won't trade Lindell in division (if at all). PHI seems to love Sanheim/Risto pairing - probably bc Sanheim actually plays two ways unlike Risto.

Offseason time
If we sign Leddy for 5 years, I will cry. At max 2, maybe 3 years if the AAV is lower. His skating/speed is his biggest asset and that will slow as he ages.
